Steeman, George, 84 years, beloved husband of Sedina (nee Bekaan) of 61 years, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. George was a devoted family man who will be sadly missed by his daughter Ariana Deehan of Maidstone, his son Henry and wife Susan of Edmonton, Alberta, his son Ted and wife Carrie of Wheatley, grandchildren Edina (Deehan) Driver and husband Dean, Christina (Deehan) Unis and husband Ron, Diana Deehan and fiancé Will Clements, Samantha Steeman and fiancé Jeryn Pinsonneault, Sara Steeman, Jacqueline Steeman, Zachary Steeman, and great granddaughter Olivia Driver. George is also survived by several nieces and nephews. George was born in Borkum, Germany. He emigrated with his wife and young daughter to Canada in 1953 and lived in Merlin. George and his young family built a home and moved to Mersea Township in 1961 where he resided until his passing. A very special thanks to Carrie Steeman for the compassionate caring and support to George and Sedina throughout George’s illness. Entered into rest with her two children by her side at the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday, 16th July 2013, Mary Scott Wang of Brockville, aged 94 years. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Peter Wang and loving mother of Susan Kingwell (Paul) of Ottawa and Erik Wang (Catherine) of Brockville. Loving grandmother of Laurie Hanley (Tom) of Halifax, NS, Daniel Kingwell (Jee-Youn Shin) of Toronto, Adam Wang (Rachel Davies) of Victoria, BC, and Stephen Kingwell (Sunita Nayar) of Ottawa. Great grandmother of Kaatrina, Madelaine, Rohan, Shaan, Anika and Kieran. Also survived by sisters Jean Stauble (Bill) of Cobourg and Jocelyn Fyfe (Stewart) of Kingston and their families.

OAKLEY, Edward “Ted” George - Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital, London on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father Edward “Ted” George Oakley in his 97th year. Son of George Edward Oakley and Mary Ellen (Murphy) Oakley. Beloved husband of Ruby Lorraine (Gill) (1991). Proud father of Wayne (Cathy) Oakley of Southhampton, Ontario, Debbie (Jim) Somerville of Glanworth, Ontario and Barb (Lorne) Seaton of London, Ontario. Grandfather of Tracey (Mike) Kelly, Tim (Marcia) Oakley, Tina Oakley, Carrie (Chris) Reed and Jamie “Chubby” (Cathy) Somerville. Great Grandpa to Cody Emerson James and Rebecca Ann Reed, Ella Catherine, John Edward, and Brady James Somerville and Kelsey Wilcox-Oakley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Nellie Shearme and Alice “Ciss” Monks. Step brother of Jim and Harry Oakley. Half-brother of Fred Taylor, Walt Taylor, Reg Taylor and Edna Plank. Dad was very proud to serve in the Second World War as a gunnery instructor for the Royal Canadian Navy. After returning home to his wife Ruby, they settled in Old South London where they raised their family. Dad worked at Labatts for 38 years and had many interests including hunting and fishing as well as his boat and trailer in Port Glasgow. One of Dad’s greatest gifts to his family was his love and his zest for life. At Christmas time his standing joke at the dinner table was “please go easy on the butter guys, it’s 5 cents a pound”. Dad we will truly miss you, your sense of humor and your smile. We love you Daddi-O. Now go drop your line and go fishing “Cheerio and a Pip”. NANTAU, James Gregory
On July 5th, 2013 we lost a great man. It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Jim Nantau, at the age of 49 years. Jim passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. His loving wife Tammy (Dumas) and their children Michael, Aryn, and Heather. Jim was very close with his brother Bill Nantau and sister Christine Perryman (Nantau). Jim also treasured his relationships with his sister-in-law Kim Nantau and brother-in-law Dale Perryman. Son in law to Gary and Sally Dumas who loved Jim and always thought of Jim as their son. Jim has had many successful accomplishments. He was a graduate of the University of Windsor and University of Western Ontario. He received his MBA from the Ivey Business School. Jim has had a long career in banking with Royal Bank of Canada and Bank of Montreal. Jim served on the Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. He taught business at the Nipissing University. Jim also enjoyed being a published writer. He has been published in the Montreal Review, Windsor Star, as well as with Aquarius Press. Family was very important to Jim and he will be greatly missed by nieces and nephews Lauren Nantau, Ally, Ryan, and Jack Perryman. Loving brother-in-law to Gary (Dumas) and his wife Margey and their children Jayson and Chloe. Jim enjoyed traveling from China across Canada to Mexico. He especially enjoyed going to his cottage in Michigan with his friends and family where he spent time golfing, hiking, sailing, and outdoor living. He loved his steaks on the open pit barbeque and enjoying the view of the lake. Special thank you to Lori Bachynski who made it possible for Jim to pass graciously and with dignity. Reaching down from heaven are Jim’s parents Nadia (Cebrynski) and Bill Nantau who have embraced him into heaven and will together look down on his family. Mrs. Sophie and Nadia Lafrance from St-Isidore passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the age of 17 and 19. They were the daughters of the late Jacques Lafrance and of Nicole Coderre; the dear sisters of Jean-François (Isabelle Guertin); the beloved granddaughters of Rosaire and Lina Lafrance also of the late Laurier and Eveline Coderre. She survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and friends.
