GOTTLIEB, Erich Astor
May 17, 1920 - October 9, 2006
Gottlieb Erich Astor passed away peacefully at 86 years of age on October 9, 2006, from natural causes at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital.
A service will be held on Friday, October 20th, 2006 at 12:00 Noon in the Doric Masonic Hall, 475 Kingston Rd. W., Ajax - (between Westney and Church Streets) followed by a light lunch.
He will be missed by a host of family and friends in Canada, Germany, and the USA,
Survived by daughter, Trina Astor-Stewart, son-in-law, Breck Stewart and grandsons, James and Arthur Astor-Perrin.
He was preceded in death by his beloved second wife, Gertrude Maria, nee: Wurz, by his first wife, Charlotte, nee: Schreger: his parents Jakob and Magdalena Astor; his dear sister, Ilse Petrie, as well as his favorite aunt, Elise Trost.
He is survived by his dear sister, Kathe Wagenblass.
Many nieces and nephews in Germany who also mourn his passing, among whom are his sister Ilse's children - Waltraud Freudenberger, Giesela Hauck, Friedericke Wettstein and Roswith Mager.
He is also mourned by his sister, Kathe's children, Jurgen Wagenblass, Rudiger Wagenblass, and Roland Wagenblass. Gottlieb founded Astor Studio and was the family photographer and memory maker for an entire generation of families.
A founding member of The Oshawa Camera Club and The Oshawa Movie Club.
He was a church soloist for 30 years, many will recall his avid interest in flying as well.
He retired and lived in the Barrie area for several years.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gottlieb Astor Photography Room - a history and teaching facility for children within the future Whitby History Museum and Children's Centre Complex.
Donations should be made to The Whitby Historical Society, 123 Brock Street South, Whitby Ontario Canada L1N 4J9.

GYIVICSAN, John
(former owner of Uxbridge Tannery for 43 years)
On Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at age 78.
John beloved husband of Margit.
Dear father of Zoltan and Katalin. Grandfather of Jennifer, Nadia, Darrel, Khristopher, Drew, Ryan Westley, and great-granddaughter Hailey.
Survived by his brothers, Geza and Istvan.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 59 Centre Road, Uxbridge, on Friday, October 13, 2006 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

KIWIOR, Maria
(1926- 2006)
Maria passed away peacefully after a short stay in the Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital, on Monday, October 9, 2006.
Maria was predeceased by her husband Joe of 58 years in 2000.
She is also predeceased by her brother Nick from the Ukraine.
Maria was dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by her only son Joe and his wife Kathy, as well as her grandson, Chris (Yvonne) all from British Columbia. She leaves behind her only surviving brother, Paul and his family in the Ukraine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church (411 Olive St) on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 10am.
Visitation will take place at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Friday 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Prayers 8pm.
Memorial donations in Maria's memory to a Charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Rest in peace Mom

OSBORNE, Rev. Gordon Edward,
(Chaplain of EMS Toronto)
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on October 9th, 2006 at the age of 73.
Beloved husband of Rita (nee England) for over 50 years, he will be greatly missed by his daughters Lorraine (Schroetter) and husband Scott LaPointe, and Ruth (Berry) and husband Blair Hitchings and grand- daughters Danielle and Chantelle.
He will also be missed by his faithful boxer, Winston.
A celebration of Gordon's life will be held Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 at 6:30 pm at COMMUNITY PENTECOSTAL CHURCH, 416 Taunton Road West, Oshawa, with service to follow at 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sick Children's Hospital, Toronto or a local Humane Society would be appreciated.

STECKLEY, Hilda
Passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates in her 101st year of age.
She is survived by her dear daughter, Patricia and husband, Mike.
Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Leslie and husband, Jason, Karen and husband, Chris, Barney and wife, Angela, and Eve and great- grandchildren Veronica, Nathan and Sophia, Jamie and Emma, and Caitlin.
A private Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 7p.m.

SUTHERLAND, Phyllis Mae
Peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Oshawa General Hospital in her 79th year.
Loving mother of Rick (Cindy) Babcock of Whitby, Gail Raczkowski of Whitby, and Janet Babcock of Rosebank.
Cherished grandmother to Derek, Kelly (Phil), Ryan (Mary), Christopher, Andrew (Cassie), Michael and great-grandmother to Mason, True and Zoe. Survived by her brother, Clifford. Predeceased by her husband, Robert Sutherland.
Phyllis was an active and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Family and friends will be received at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby (just north of Hwy 2) from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Thursday, October 12, 2006.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (southwest corner of Thornton Road North and Rossland Road West in Oshawa) on Friday, October 13, 2006 with visitation at the church from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm.
Donations in Phyllis' memory may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation

MACDONELL, Marilyn Anne (nee Finley)
With courage and grace at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, Marilyn went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the age of 77.
Beloved wife and best friend of Charles for 53 years.
Loving mother of John Charles, Mary Louise, Joanne (Owen Phillips) and Cathy (Michael Brown). Loving grandma of Kate, Eryn, Veronica, Andrew, Ian, Emilie, Cameron, and Alison. Dear sister of John Finley and his wife, Freda and the late Charles Finley and his wife, Diane.
Marilyn will be missed by an extended family and friends in the Toronto, and Uxbridge, areas.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (70 Toronto Street North, Uxbridge) on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.
If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

MacMASTER, Alexander (Alec) Hugh
(retired 40-year employee of Coca Cola; member of Tamarac Golf & Country Club).
Peacefully with his family by his side at St. Joseph's Hospital, Palliative Care, on Monday, October 9, 2006, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, in his 69th year. Dear husband and best friend of Margaret (Jobin) for 42 years.
Loving father of David and his wife, Jessica of Chesley, Ontario, Christopher of Peterborough, Donna and her husband, Joe D'Ovidio of Ajax, and Lorraine MacMaster-Price of Ajax.
Grandpa to Graham, Grace, Ainslie, and Aaron MacMaster; Alicia and Evan D'Ovidio; and Brianne and Kyra Price.
Son of the late John and Mary MacMaster.
Dear brother of Marie MacDonald (Duncan), Bernie, Albert (Teresa), Gerard (Ann), Sharon Wilson, Betty MacGillivray (Leonard), Julie Davis, Donald, Earl, and the late Angus and George.
Brother-in-law of Helen and Jerry Smith and Basil and Edith Jobin. Sadly missed by many good friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends may call at the HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/RECEPTION CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd. (at River Rd. S.) on Wednesday, October 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held in the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS on Thursday, October 12, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation.

MATTINGLY, George Edward
Suddenly on Sunday, October 8th, 2006 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 87th year.
Predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Margaret. George will be fondly remembered by his children, Bob (Betty), Wayne (Beverley), Barry (Jayne) and Peter (Gail).
He will be sadly missed by a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Should family and friends so desire, donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be greatly appreciated.

WOLLA, Peter Johan
(Served as a Member of the King's Guard in Norway, 36-year Member of Labourer's Union Local 183 (597), Past President of Local 597, Member of Oshawa Downtown Taskforce and Oshawa District Advisory Council for Economic Development)
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa after a recent illness. Peter Wolla, at the age of 75.
Beloved husband of Mona-Lisa Wolla for 47 years.
Devoted father of Peter (Ellen), John (Kim), Stein, and Brian (Angela).
Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Mellisa, Nadine, Tyler, Dylan, Petra and Storm.
Predeceased by his sister, Anne-Lise Torp of Norway. Peter will be sadly missed by family and friends in Norway and Denmark.
Upon Peter's request, a Private Family Service was held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2 Courtice (905-432-8484).
