DAUB, Karen Ann
Passed away suddenly on Friday, February 25th, 2000 at Brockville General Hospital. The former Karen Ann Bradley of R.R. 4 Prescott; beloved wife of Rodney Daub, loving mother of Jason and Jaelene, and stepmother of Stephen. Dear daughter of Joan and Robert Bradley. Karen is lovingly remembered by her sister Catherine Collette and her husband Karl; by several nieces and nephews including Jordan and Nicholas Collette; by several aunts and uncles including Anne and James Baxter and Robert and Janet Kuske; and by Rod’s parents Carl and Pearl Daub. She was predeceased by her sister Susan, and by grandparents Victor and Lily Kuske, and Walter and Evelyn Bradley.
A private family visitation was held. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 8th, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. for a ceremony in celebration of Karen’s life in the Chapel of the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to an education trust fund for Karen’s children will be gratefully acknowledged.

RHODES, Eva Viola
Peacefully at Bendale Acres Nursing Home, Scarborough on Sunday morning February 27th, 2000 the former Eva Viola Pattemore, age 89 years, formerly of Oak Leaf and Toronto. Beloved widow of Norman Rhodes. Loving mother of Barbara Anne Stanley of Courtice, Ont. Proud grandmother of Keith Stanley of Scarborough and Ralda Pearce (Brent) of Courtice, Ont. Loved great-grandmother, of Kayla and Carly Pearce. Predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters, George and Charles Pattemore both of Oak Leaf, Florence Pattemore and Bertha Brown both of Mallorytown and Olive MaGill of Ottawa. Also predeceased by a son-in-law George Ross Stanley of Scarborough.
Friends may call at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens on Tuesday, February 29th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, March 1st, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Lillies Cemetery. In memoriams to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

WARREN, Michael Arthur
(Ontario Public Service 1973-1997)
With great dignity as he had lived his life, Michael died peacefully at age 63, on Friday, February 25, 2000 at the Brockville General Hospital following a two year battle with cancer. Beloved and most precious husband of Anne Theresa (nee Reid). Loving brother of Yvonne Washford (John), Kent, England, brother-in-law of Thomas Reid, Mallorytown and his cousin and close friend Arthur Barrett of Hednesford, Staffs, England, as well as three nieces and three nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Gladys May (Barrett) and Arthur Herman Warren of Warley, Worcestershire, England and his parents-in-law Brendan and Eleanor Reid of Gananoque, Ont. Honorary life member and long time executive member of the Toronto Naval Club. President for 21 years of the Toronto Whiskers Club (A Comradeship Group within the Naval Club); and member of the Toronto Black Watch Association. Past member of the Naval Officers Association of Canada, Toronto Branch, and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92, Gananoque. Parishioner of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Gananoque where he married Anne in 1972.
Family and friends will be received at the Tompkins Funeral Home, 63 Garden Street, Gananoque on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 29 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in the family plot at St. Brendan’s Cemetery, Rockport, Ont. in the Spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. John’s Restoration Fund would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Rev. Fr. Flurey and to our fellow parishioners for their masses and prayers on Michael's behalf. To Dr. Wm. Irwin; Surgeons, Dr. Wm. Redmond and Dr. Lars Thompson for their professional attentive care over the months and to brother Tom and to Jim and Joan Reid and their family for being there for us every step of the way.

Elaine Travis, 66
PRESCOTT -- Elaine Travis, 66, died May 15, 2004 at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital.
She was born September 14, 1937, in Cardinal to David Steele and the former Nelda Patterson, grew up in Cardinal and at the age of 15 began working at the Kincaid Bag Factory in Prescott. She also worked in a couple of restaurants and then at Cardinal Starch Company.
On June 11, 1955, she married Theodore "Ted" Travis in Cardinal and the couple settled in Prescott.
Mrs. Travis worked for a year at the RCA plant in Prescott, then became a homemaker. She babysat for a number of years. When her own children were in school full time, she started working at the Double D store in Prescott.
She was a member of the Rebekahs and Odd Fellows. She enjoyed bowling, volunteering, camping, playing cards, dancing, and attending muzzle-loading shoots her husband was participating in. She also loved travelling to Florida and particularly enjoyed an Alaskan cruise.
She is survived by her husband Ted, son David and wife Donna of Prescott and daughter Susan Mack of Prescott, as well as two grandchildren, Rob and Kailee. Also surviving are her brother Bill Steele and wife Marie of Cardinal and sisters Marylin Kroone of Prescott and Shirley Gunther and husband John of Brockville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers Leonard and Wesley "Buck" Steele.
A memorial service was held May 18 at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, with Rev. Gerry Ring officiating. Burial was at Maynard Cemetery on May 25.
Memorial donations went to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care and to various churches.

Herman Kaldeway, 56
Herman Kaldeway, 56, died May 31, 2004 in a car accident at Centeen Park.
He was born in Soest, Netherlands, on June 22, 1947, to Johannes Kaldeway and the former Imkje Siderius.
He came to Canada in October 1951 with his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He was educated in Brockville schools and married Dirma Moraal on July 17, 1971.
For the past 30 years he had worked at DuPont Canada, Maitland site, as a millwright.
Mr. Kaldeway was a very active member of Centennial Road Standard Church where he was involved in many projects and ministries.
He was an avid bird carver and belonged to the St. Lawrence Wildfowlers Association. He also enjoyed gardening. His main interest was his family and he enjoyed many memorable times with them.
He is survived by his wife Dirma of Brockville and three children, Angela Suzanne Haggett and husband Paul of Athens, Emily Marie Margaret Castle and husband Andrew of Brockville and Daniel Eric John Kaldeway and wife Lisa of Lindsay, as well as four grandchildren, Connor and Sarah Haggett and Sophie and Evan Castle.
Also surviving are three brothers, Martin and wife Alice of Brockville, John and wife Sylvia of Brampton and Peter and wife Annette of Mallorytown, and two sisters, Dianne Termorshuizen and husband Bill of Grimsby and Mary of Rynfield, South Africa. He is also survived by special friends Darren and Pascal Gallacher and their son Braeden.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Friends were received June 2 at Centennial Road Standard Church, where the following day the funeral was held, with Rev. Laurence Croswell officiating. Son Daniel Kaldeway gave the eulogy. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
The pallbearers were Daniel Kaldeway, Darren Gallacher, Andrew Castle, Paul Haggett, Brian Davis and Bill Hardy.
Funeral arrangements were with Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville.
Memorial donations to Project Reach Out (Centennial Road Standard Church) or Athens Christian School will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Ronald Dixie, 72
ATHENS -- Ronald Neil Dixie, 72, formerly of Addison, died June 1, 2004 at Smiths Falls District Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1932, at RR 3, Athens, to Harold Dixie and the former Ferne Spence. He was raised and educated in the Addison area and played ball in his younger days.
He worked at the Automatic Electric plant in Brockville until the mid 1960s, when he retired for health reasons.
Mr. Dixie is survived by his brother Raymond Dixie and wife Myrla of RR 1, Addison and by three sisters, Madeline Ashton and June Kennedy of Brockville and Jeane Moore and husband George of Addison, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are sister-in-law Marlene Dixie of RR 4, Brockville, uncles Borden Dixie and Gerald Miller, and aunts Kathleen Egan and Dorothy Dixie.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Howard and Guy Dixie (who both lived in Addison).
Friends called at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, where on June 4 the funeral was held, with Father Roy Nixon officiating. Burial followed at Glen Elbe Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Rodger and Dave Dixie, Dale and Robin Ashton, and Grant and Garry Moore.
Memorial donations were made to Christ Church, Athens; Trinity Anglican Church, Addison; Oakleaf Holy Trinity Cemetery; Maple View Lodge and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Noble Henry, 83
Noble Wilson Henry, 83, of RR 2, North Augusta, died May 21, 2004 at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1921 in Stone, Que., to Matthew Henry and the former Irene McUen. He moved to the Brockville area in 1944 and settled at RR 1, North Augusta.
He made his living as a farmer and truck driver, retiring 17 years ago. He identified with the United Church and enjoyed farming, gardening and wood cutting.
Mr. Henry is survived by his wife, Opal Harper, whom he married in 1975 in the United Church in Brockville. Also surviving are three brothers, Percy and Lester, both of RR 1, North Augusta, and Albert of Brockville, and two sisters, Muriel of RR 1, North Augusta and Vivian Quinn of Brockville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Other survivors are his sister-in-law Mary Ohman of Perth and brothers-in-law Gerald Quinn of Brockville, John Harper of Kingston and Allan Harper of Hamilton.
He was predeceased by his parents, six brothers, Lemuel, Thomas, Herbert, Charlie, Angus and Edgar, and one sister, Florence Clarence.
Friends called at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, Brockville, where on May 25 the funeral was held, with Rev. Marion Johnston officiating. Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery, just west of Brockville.
The pallbearers were Harold Herbison, Gene Beauchamp, David Clarence, Corey Beauchamp, Gerald Quinn and John Ohman.
Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Margaret Miller, 88
EAST NOEL, N.S. -- Former Brockville school teacher Margaret Miller died of an aneurysm May 29, 2004 in Truro Hospital, Truro, Nova Scotia.
She was born December 30, 1915 in Middle Stewiacke, N.S., to George Taylor and the former Henrietta Fulton. She grew up in her birthplace and earned a diploma from Truro Normal College, N.S.
She taught for 19 years in Nova Scotia and then moved to Brockville, where she taught for another 25 years, at Spring Valley School, Riverview School (Sharpe's Lane) and Toniata School, on Scace Avenue. She retired in 1981.
She was married to Wilmot "Bill" Miller and they lived on Ormond Street and Stewart Boulevard.
She returned to Nova Scotia and lived in Lower Selma at the time of her death. There she identified with St. Paul's Anglican Church in Northfield, N.S.
Her special interests were gardening and writing poetry.
She is survived by three brothers in Truro, Douglas, Rupert and John Taylor and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, brothers Arnold and Byard Taylor and sister Ethel Davidson.
The funeral was held June 2 at the Withrow-MacMillan Funeral Home in East Noel, N.S., with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, Northfield, N.S.
The pallbearers were Greg and Larry Hennigar, Teddy Laffin and Wade Taylor.

Cecil Ross, 74
ATHENS -- Cecil Asa Ross, 74, died May 11 at his home after a three-year illness with a heart condition.
He was born August 4, 1929 in Westboro, Carleton County, to Asa Ross and the former Pearl Buckland. His family moved to Brockville and he was raised in a small two-storey house on Chemical Road.
He married Winona Roberta Hodge in Lyn in the early 1950s. They moved to Addison, where he built a house, and they raised two children, son Lyle and daughter Marlene.
During his working years he held numerous jobs. He drove milk trucks, fuel trucks and even, for Alan Peterson, a tractor-trailer into the United States. He was a jack of all trades, skilled as a carpenter, mason, plumber and mechanic.
He had a sense of humour and also was musically talented. He taught his daughter to play guitar and they performed together in benefit jamborees in Leeds and Grenville, hosted by his brother-in-law Con Darling, the famed local clown.
Mr. Ross also enjoyed hunting, fishing and automobile driving. He participated in some of the earlier stock-car races held in the U.S. and taught his children to drive on an oval track at the end of their rural property.
He eventually built a new home on the Town Line, where he lived until his death.
He is survived by his son Lyle Ross and wife Debbie of RR 2, Addison, and his daughter Marlene Poelstra of Brockville, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and sisters Hazel and Luella. Also surviving is his close friend of the past four years, Shirley Gardiner. He was predeceased by his brothers Earl and Gerald Ross.
Friends called at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, where on May 14 the funeral was held, with Rev. Michael Bury, of Christ Church, Athens, officiating. Burial followed at Lyn Cemetery.
Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Diabetes Association.

Tessie Wilson, 87
Marie Theresa "Tessie" Wilson, 87, best known for the child care she gave over the years, died May 28, 2004 at St. Lawrence Lodge after a long illness.
She was born July 23, 1916 in Ottawa to Onesime L'Anglais and the former Marie Louise Gauthier. She lived in Ottawa until her family came to Brockville in 1918.
On May 16, 1936, she married Gerald F. Wilson in St. Francis Xavier Church, Brockville, and they raised a large family.
She contributed to the family income by working as a seamstress - she designed and created many complete wedding outfits - but she is primarily remembered for offering day care for many children over the years.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband Gerald Wilson; five sons, Thomas F. Wilson and wife Doris, John Gilbert Wilson and wife Arlene, Neil Dennis Wilson and wife Alie, Phillip Gerald Wilson and John Guy Wilson and wife Donna; one daughter, Janet Yvonne Coughlin and husband Bill; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as a niece Christine Anderson and three nephews, Armand L'Anglais, George Moore and Douglas Moore.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Marie Louise Bush and Marie Denise; two sisters, Simone Guerin and Betty Moore, and one brother, Armand "Harry" L'Anglais.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, on May 30 and 31. The funeral mass was celebrated June 1 in St. Francis Xavier Church, with Father Brian Price officiating. Burial followed at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
Her pallbearers were seven grandsons, Scott Taylor, Grant Hoogwerf, Steve Bush, Greg Bush, Glenn Wilson, Dustin Wilson and Caleb Wilson.
Memorial donations were directed to the Alzheimer Society.
