BEATTIE, Albert Dawson passed away in Victoria, B.C. on April 6, 2000, aged 95. He was predeceased by his wife, Daisy in 1999. Bert was a teacher in Ottawa for 40 years, retiring as a principal. He was involved in a youth group for those who needed help in learning discipline, as well as very active in the Boy Scouts movement. Bert was a long time member of the Prince of Wales Masonic Lodge No. 371 in Ottawa and the Scottish Rite. Graveside Service will be held at Hatley Memorial Gardens, 2050 Sooke Road, Victoria, B.C. on Monday, April 10, 2000 at 10 a.m., with Reverend Laura Butler officiating. Also loved by his seven grandchildren; Brooke, Steele, Finn, Reed, Knoll, Nelson and Landon. Predeceased by sister Erla Morrison (Russ) and brother Mervyn (Jean). Arden will also be dearly missed by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, many friends and colleagues. He will be sadly missed by his wife Verda (nee Greene), his daughters Dawn (Dell) Hachey and Janice and Verda's sons Terry (Valerie) Wall and Jeffrey (Gail) Wall. He will be remembered as a kind and loving grandfather by Jennifer (Bill) Anderson, Jamie Wall and Tommy Wall, and great-grandfather of Nicklaus and Melissa Anderson. He is survived by his brother Glen (Clara). Predeceased by his dear first wife, Annabeth Christine (nee Wellman), his parents, Eleanor and Rowan and his brother George. As a WWII RCAF pilot, he will be remembered for his contributions to his country. He will be remembered by his family, as a kind and loving husband, father, grandparent, guide, craftsman, and as a source of inspiration to all who knew him. Services will take place on Monday, April 10, 2000, at 2 p.m., in the Pinecrest cemetery Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, followed by an inurnment and reception. In lieu of flowers, donations will be kindly accepted by The Hospice at May Court or The Canadian Cancer Society.
