ATKINSON, Maxine Olive After a brief illness at Kingston General Hospital on Monday May 29, 2000. Maxine Atkinson, age 75 years, beloved daughter of the late James Douglas McAdam and Laura Agnes McAdam. Loving mother of Douglas (Angela) of Toronto and Lynn (Jack) Walsworth of Fredricton, New Brunswick. Loving grandmother of Phillip, Tom, and Diana Walsworth. Friends will be received at the Central Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 49 Colborne St. (at Clergy) on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. prior to brief committal rites at 3:45 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Carleton Place, Ontario on Friday, June 2nd at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband David Cameron Broom. Survived by daughters Anne Currie (John) of Toronto; and Jenifer Wartman (Doug) of Kingston; her sister-in-law Elizabeth Newman of Montreal; her three grandchildren Michael and Jeffrey Wartman of Kingston and Jonathan Currie of Toronto; and her three step-grandchildren Christopher (Toronto), Carolyn (Phoenix) and Amanda (Vancouver) Currie. COOPER, Howard Frederick With earthly chores complete, Howard Frederick Cooper, in his 86th year, left our presence early Monday, October 2, 2000. Recent resident of Maple View Lodge, Athens. He was loving father of Bruce and Connie of Elgin. Dearly devoted son of Rhae Cooper, residing at Carveth Care Centre, Gananoque. Predeceased by his father Arthur Thomas Cooper in 1968. Brother of Lloyd (Laura) Cooper of Sand Lake. Survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Howard will be lovingly remembered by godchild, Miranda Edmunds of Delta. COTE, Claude (R.C.M.P.) It is with great sadness we say a premature goodbye to Claude, in his 52nd year, who passed away suddenly on Friday, September 29, 2000 at his home in Orleans. Claude is survived by his loving and much loved wife Pat (Patricia Green), his beloved daughters Jennifer and Lyn-Anne (her fiance Joe Fournier), his loving mother Cecile Cote of Niagara Falls, brother Dan (Micheline D'Amours) of Montreal, sisters Lise D'Alfonso of Niagara Falls, Mona (Fred Witte) Japan, Annie (Kevin Kennedy) of Waterloo and brother Robert (his fiancee Jennifer Emmett) of Kingston. Claude is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, Sabrina, Natasha, Sarah, Dominique and Phillippe. Claude also leaves behind his dearest friends of more than 30 years, Bob and Denise Livingston of Orleans and close friends Cliff and Bonnie Driscoll of Kingston and Joe and Isobel Black of Sault Ste. Marie and their children and grandchildren. Claude is lovingly remembered by the Green family, Mrs. Shirley Green of Branford, Glen (Carolyn Kearney) of Ottawa, Dana (Norma Johnson) of Richmond and their children, Karen Hubbard (Rob) of Hamilton, and their children Colleen (Dan Killeen) of Delta, B.C. and Kimberley of Hamilton. He will also be missed by his co-workers who respected him, and last but not least by "Ozzie" his faithful dog. Sister-in-law of Yvonne Smith. Predeceased by brothers Edward, Raymond and Kenneth, sister-in-law Noreen and brother-in-law Ken Mooney. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. MCALLISTER, Betty Jeanne (nee Senn) Just before noon on Monday, October 2, 2000, Betty-Jeanne (B.J.) reached the end of her time with us, surrounded by members of her family. In her 73rd year, she joins husband Ron McAllister who predeceased her in June 1991. There are many who already miss her, including family members: sister Cass Sangeter (husband Graydon); sister-in-law Bettie Thomas (husband Keith); daughters Catherine and Susan; nephew Malcolm Guthridge; son John (wife Pauline Phillips); and granddaughter Aurora. In keeping with B.J.'s wishes, there will be no visitation and no viewing. However, cremation will be followed by a Memorial Service at a later date which will be held at "The Chapel on The Corner" at the Robert J. Reid & Sons Funeral Home, 309 Johnson Street, (at Barrie Street), Kingston, Ontario. Friends of B.J. and her family are invited and welcomed. Interment in the United Church cemetery in Westport, Ontario at a later date. During most of the past three years, Betty-Jeanne was a resident of Fairfield Manor (West) in Kingston. Her greatful family thanks Fairfield's special and caring staff, and Dr. D. Marcassa. In Septembershe moved to Extendicare Kingston. During her brief stay there, as well, a wonderful staff cared for B.J. and made her final days as comfortable and dignified as possible. Her family thanks the staff at Extendicare for their compassionate care, as well as the kindness and understanding shown to B.J.'s family members. Very special thanks to Dr. F. Paolucci. Her family believes that Betty-Jeanne is now free from pain and at rest in peace. Family members hope to be with her once more when the time comes, in the place where no shadows fall.104119
