CUTT, John Ross Of Kingston, Ont., passed away peacefully at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital on Monday, July 30 at the age of 85 years. John is survived by his loving son Brian (Sandra) and his grandson and granddaughter Darrell and Amanda, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his half brother Bob Cutt (Carly) of St. Catharines and his cousin Kathleen Phillips of Dunvegan, Ont. John was predeceased by his loving wife Edith and his half brother Irving Cutt. John was born in Dunvegan, Ont. to John and Christine (Ross) Cutt, but on the early death of his mother he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Frank and Bethia Phillips. John met his wife of 56 years while attending summer school at Queen's, they were married in 1942 and began a rich and rewarding life together. John taught in both the elementary and secondary school systems but pioneered teaching programs in Special Education for special needs students. He and his wife also taught English to new Canadians for many years. John was a Mason and a 50 year member of the Royal Edward Lodge, he was a past patron of Frontenac Chapter O.E.S., he was a Scottish Riter as well as a Shriner. John was an active member of Princess Street United Church. John will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by friends, associates, former pupils and family. John's remains will be cremated and a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at James Reid Funeral Home at a time and date to be announced later. If friends so desire, donations may be made in his memory to Princess Street United Church, 484 Albert Street, and or the Alzheimer's Society of Kingston, 100 Stuart Street. MCCARTHY, Mark Terrence Suddenly at the Kingston General Hospital, on Tuesday July 31, 2001 in his 9th year. Mark, beloved son of Elizabeth and Eugene McCarthy. Dearly missed by his grandmother Mrs. Amelia McCarthy, his great aunts Mrs. Florence Tucker and Mrs. Florence Smith, and his uncles Trevor (Brenda) and Barry McCarthy, and his aunt Brenda (Douglas) Jarrell, and cousin Hilary, and other relatives and good friends. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Drive (Waterloo Village) on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Service in Our Chapel on Monday August 6 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment service will be held on Tuesday.
