KARICH, Katherine, passed away peacefully at the Windsor Regional Hospital at the age of 81 years. Late of Essex. Katherine was a resident at the Essex Manor Rest Home and dear friend to Ted Sargent and Helen Siefker. Daughter of the late Christopher & Christine Karich. Visiting at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot Street North, Essex, (776-7378) on Monday from 2 4 PM and 7 9 PM. Funeral service to be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at 10:30 am. Edward Sargent officiating. Interment in Greenhill cemetery , Kingsville.

She will be greatly missed by daughters Jessica and her fiance Darrin Rutter, Leamington; Crystal and special friend Darren Trudell, Leamington and Nicole, at home. Loving grandmother to Corrina, Carlotta, Robert, and Courtney. Susana was married for 17 years to Henry Redekopp, who now resides in Mexico. Loving daughter to Gerhard and Susana Penner, Langton. Beloved foster daughter to John and Patricia Nyssen, Leamington. Adored daughter-in-law to Anna and the late Peter Reddekopp, Stratfordville. Loving sister and helpmate to Dave and Mary, Trudy and Pete, Nancy, Marie and John, Ann and Jake, Abe and Nettie, Kathryn and Eldon, Helen and Frank, George and Katherina and Jake. Dear sister-in-law to Jake and Mary, Neil and Annie, Susan and Jack, Anna and Bill, Tine and John, Aggie and George, Ben and Margaret, Bill and Marianne, Mary, Dave and John. Fondly remembered by best friends Helen and Jake and cherished aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Roath. Cherished mother of Donna Tyndall and her late husband Blaine, Gary and wife Mary, Sandra Wilkins and husband John, Mary Taylor and husband Richard, and the late Wayne Roath. Dearest grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Special sister of Claude and Joyce Ebbinghaus, Frances and the late Keith Ebbinghaus, Lloyd and Evelyn Dewhirst. Predeceased by her siblings Donald Ebbinghaus, Virginia Jones and Burniece Kigar. Visiting from the Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Avenue East, Essex (776-4233) on Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Byrne, Edward Joseph

BYRNE, Edward Joseph (Ted) 88 years, July 21, 1914 December 25, 2002.passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus, Windsor. Late of Country Village and formerly of Essex, Ontario. During his retirement years, Ted spent winters in Pinellas Park, Florida. Beloved husband of 42 years to the late Clara Mae Kavanagh (1984) and 17 years to Ellen Kavanagh Dunn. Son of the late Rose (Chittle 1985) and Joseph Byrne (1959). Loving father of Maureen and Jerry Kuzak, Ed and Ann Helen, John and Yvette Byrne all of Essex. Rosemary Byrne of Windsor, Estelle and Jerome Collins of Tecumseh, Clare and Blair Clark of St. Joseph Michigan, and Kathy and Vic Bellaire of Maidstone. Stepfather and friend to John and Gayle Dunn of Stratford, Pat and Kay Dunn of Montreal and Mike Dunn of Alberta. Grandpa of David, Kelly and Kristen Kuzak, Teddy and Tara Byrne, Erin, Lauren and Ryan Byrne, Jessica and Robbie Manuel, Caitlin and J. J. Collins, Brian and Steven Clark, Sara, Amber and Tyler Bellaire, Chris, Mike, Susan, Mark and Julie Dunn.Predeceased by his brothers Jim (1998), Don (1973), Gerald (1940) and sister Julia McCarroll (2000). Survived by brothers Louis and Patrick and sisters Bertha and Charlotte and many nieces and nephews in Ontario, Michigan and Arizona. Ted enjoyed an active life playing baseball, bowling and shuffleboard, raising his children, attending school board meetings and in his retirement years was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and euchre player. He was also a farmer in the Maidstone/Pleasant Park area until 1994 and a very proud 1974 retiree of Chrysler Canada and of CAW Local 444. During his busy life he also found time to serve as chairman of the Maidstone School Board from 1949 to 1963 where he supervised the remodeling of SS#2 Sacred Heart School (Pleasant Park), SS#6 & 8, St Joseph s (Six Corners) and was instrumental in the planning, funding and construction of the current St Mary s School in Maidstone. He also served as president of the Essex County School Trustees and Ratepayers Association. Ted was also a Knights of Columbus member for over 50 years serving as Grand Knight and District Deputy. He belonged to both Essex Council 3305 and Woodslee Council 4555 as well as 4th Degree Dean Wagner Assembly No. 862. Besides his family, he will be missed by his many card playing friends at Iler Lodge Essex and Golden Gate Community in Pinellas Park Florida where he spent over 30 winters. Visitation at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot St. N., Essex (776-7378) on Thursday from 7 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 5 p.m. and 7 9 p.m. Parish, 3rd & 4th Degree Prayers are to be held Friday Evening at 8:15 p.m. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28,2002 at 10:30 a.m. for procession to St John the Evangelist Church, 1688 County Road #46, Woodslee for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Rev Chris Quinlan celebrant. Interment St. John s Church cemetery , Woodslee. In kindness memorial donations to the Hospice of Windsor & Essex County, or the Palliative Care Unit at Windsor Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

Chartier, Nancy (nee Gunning) passed away with her family by her side at the Windsor Regional Hospital- Metropolitan Campus on Saturday December 7, 2002 at the age of 56. Late of Essex. Loving wife to Donald. Dearest daughter and daughter-in-law to Ruby and the Late Chester Gunning; Leo and the Late Joyce Chartier. Loving mother to Michelle, Craig, Erik, and Brandon. Predeceased at birth by daughter Melissa. Dear sister to Wayne and his wife Katherine Gunning, Dorothy and her husband Bob Brown. Sister-in-law to Nancy and Jack Simpson, Mary Anne & George Poirier, Paul and Helen Chartier. Nancy will also be dearly missed by her Aunt Jeanette Doan along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy was a hairdresser for many years in Essex, Cottam and Kingsville. Family and friends may gather at the Stewart L. Kennedy Funeral Home 128 Talbot St. N. Essex. (776-7378) on Monday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate Nancy s life will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday December 10, 2002 at 10 a.m. Rev. George Cox officiating. Beloved husband of 30 years to Marguerite (nee Sheardown). Loving father of Patrick Van Daele & wife Audrey, Tara Van Daele & Daniel Frontera, and Gabriel Scott Van Daele. Predeceased by his parents, Jules & Maria Van Daele, and brother, Daniel Van Daele. Also survived by Daniel s wife Dorothy, sister Lena and husband Andy Verstrate, brother-in-law Bruce Sheardown & wife Cathy, sister-in-law Brenda Sheardown, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting at the Stewart L. Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot Street N., Essex (776-7378) on Wednesday evening, 7 9 PM, Thursday, 2 5 PM, & 7-9 PM. K of C Prayers to be held on Thursday at 8:00 pm. Wilson, Sgt. Thomas Russell

Wilson, Sgt. Thomas Russell Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at home in Essex at 49 years. Tom was not only a beloved husband for 26 years, but also a best friend since highschool to Mary (Frederick). Loving father of Stephanie and Russell, both at home. Son of the late Kirby and Theresa Wilson. Dearest brother of Wanda Krzewski and husband Dan, Burlington and Wendy Marcelloni and husband Franco of Windsor. Son in law of Catherine Frederick. Dear brother in law of Albert Frederick and wife Simone, Windsor; Margaret Graham and husband Gerry, Windsor; Gail Hope, Windsor; Russell Frederick and wife Leslie, Ottawa; Elaine Dorman, Hamilton; and John Frederick and wife Mary Ellen of Oakville. Tom will be fondly remembered and missed by many nieces, nephews, The Essex Police Service, neighbours and many many friends. Tom became a Police Cadet with the Toronto Police Service in October 1973, and in August of 1975 joined the Essex Town Police Service as a constable. On July 1st 1990 he was promoted to Sergeant and through all of his hardwork and dedication was appointed Chief of Police of the Essex Police Services. Upon amalgamation on January 1, 1999 Tom took the position of Sergeant of Essex Police Services. In his career of almost 30 years Tom demonstrated leadership qualitites and endless enthusiasm in volunteer pursuits along with many others in his community. In 1985 he received the Police Community Relations Award, in 1986 he was given the Law Enforcement Award and in 1993 received the Police Exemplary Service Medal. Tom sat on the Board of Directors with the Essex Emergency Health Education Program, was a member of the Essex Optimist Club, the Board of Directors for the Essex County Crisis Intervention Program and Chair of the Board of Essex Community Services. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Ave. E., Essex (776-4233) on Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass to celebrate Tom s life will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 180 Talbot St. S., Essex on Wednesday February 5th at 11:00 am. Fr. Larry Brunet, Fr. Chris Quinlan and Fr. Michael Parent officiating. Parish Prayers Tuesday 7pm. Mary and her family would like to thank The Essex Police Service for all of their tremendous support and time, along with the entire staff at Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). Special thanks to Mary Schmidt, Kathleen Schartner, Maryanne Laframboise, Lynn Dunn and Faye Lajore, Dr. Jones, Dr. Alam, Dr. Schneider, Dr. Abdullah, Dr Aphin, Dr. Yoshida and Maureen Dorion for their assistance, compassion and care. Ferriss, Mary Lou passed away with her family by her side, at the Windsor Regional Hospital - Metropolitan Campus, on Monday, March 17, 2003. at the age of 72 years. Wife of the late Melvin 'Soupy' Ferriss (1988). Daughter of the late Frederick & Hazel (Thomas) McDermott. Loving mother to Shelley & husband Brian Renaud, Susan Ferriss, and Judith & husband Steven Bedford all of Essex. Dearest sister to Patricia & James MacPherson, Ronald & Gladys McDermott, Helen Buskar, all of Essex, Frederick (Mickey) McDermott of Chatham, and Donald & Bonnie McDermott of Essex. Caring grandmother to Trevor McDonnell, Justin & Kyle Renaud, Rebecca Ferriss and friend Derick, Ashley, & Emily Ferriss, Bradley, Brandon, & Brittany Bedford. Also surviving are her aunts Georgina Riffenburg, and Joan Thomas and by many nieces and nephews. Dear sister-in-law to Leona Snyder of Brussels, Gordon & Lillian Ferriss of Maidstone and Ken & Ina Newman of Cottam. Mary Lou was a former Reeve, Deputy Reeve and Councillor for the Town of Essex. Dear brother of June McPherson and husband the late Duncan, Jack Bridgen and wife Donna, Bill Bridgen and his wife Bernice, Marjorie Keeley and dear brother-in-law to Mabel Bridgen, & Bonnie. Wesley was a retired Major with the R.C.A.F with 25 years of service, former instructor at St. Clair College and also a member and Secretary to the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association. Memorial service to be held at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot St. N., Essex (776-7378) on Saturday, February 22, 2003, at 1:30 PM. Rev. Doreen Canavan officiating.
