DOUGHERTY - At Sarnia General Hospital on April 11, 2003, RONALD 'RON' ALAN BRUCE DOUGHERTY, age 70, of Sarnia. Beloved husband of Barbara (Walker) Dougherty for 36 years. Dear father of Mark & Lorrie, Kevin & Lorraine, Toronto, and Derrick & Cindy, Bolton. Grandfather of Cameron, Steven and Samantha. Brother of Joanna & John Moore, and brother-in-law of Don & Audrey Walker, Sarnia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by 'his little girl' Spook. Predeceased by brother Charles and parents Charles & Frieda (Wise) Dougherty. Ron worked at Tank Truck Transport, retiring in 1993, and was a member of the Esso Central Annuitants Club. Ron enjoyed many years of camping and more recently, boating in the Sarnia area, making many great friends and will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home Chapel, celebrated by Tina Bax. EVERS - MELVIN (SPIKE) EVERS, suddenly at home on Wednesday, July 9, 2003, age 67 of Sarnia. Loving father of Patricia Bernard and husband Ed, Kapuskasing, Daniel Evers and wife Kim, Kimball Twp., MI and Nancy Cole and husband Drew, Timmins. Dear grandfather of Michelle, Richard, Cheyenne, Ryan, Matthew and Sean. Brother of Hugh, Don, Terry, Stan, Philip, Clem, Larry, Vincent, Randy, Eleanor Selinger and Judith Evers. Also surviving is the mother of Spike's children Leona (Lauzon) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Julius Joseph Evers and Rosealia Beachy. DEMERS - Suddenly on April 11, 2003, DR. PAUL JOSEPH DEMERS, age 44, of Sarnia. Cherished husband of Maureen (Quann) Demers. Dear brother of Philip & Lesley Demers, Churchill, ON and Christopher & Theresa Demers, Dorchester. Beloved son of Richard and Alice (Schoen) Demers, Baden. Uncle of Richard, Michelle, Benjamin, Jessica and Thea. Good friend of Mark & Karen Dixon and family, Brian & Danielle Hynes and family, Dr. Mario Moscone and family and Dr. Harold Gretzinger and family. Paul served for 20 years in the military with rank of Lieutenant Colonel, including active duty on the USNS Mercy Medical Ship in 1990 during the Persian Gulf War. Dr. Demers has held teaching appointments at Dalhousie University in both under-graduate and post-graduate teaching programs. He was an examiner with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. He practiced in partnership with Dr. Harold Gretzinger for 6 years. Friends and family will remember him for his love of guitar and music.
