Sarah Besau Green - 12/11/2003

Born in Schenectady, New York, 1936, died in Ottawa, December 6, 2003, was the beloved wife of Paul, mother of Rebecca, Gretchen, and Amy, and grandmother of Madeline, Simone, Sarah, Adam, and Lili. She was the daughter of Marjorie Besau and the late Frank Besau, and sister of Margaret Zuccarini and the late Ellen Angus. Receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1958, Sarah performed and taught flute for many years. She earned a Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Western Ontario in 1995, through which she rekindled her lifelong interest in Native history and culture. After moving to Ottawa, Sarah was active with the Ottawa Newcomers and shared her love of literature as a convenor of one of the book clubs and as a Newcomers publicity director. She spent many happy summers at her camp in the Adirondacks with family and friends. Sarah will be remembered for her devotion to beauty, goodness, and truth. Throughout her courageous three-year struggle with ALS, her spirit remained vibrant, and despite debilitating physical handicaps, she became an activist in raising awareness about this destructive disease. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Friday, December 12, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 13 at 2 p.m. Donations, for those wishing may be made to the Champlain Regional Office of the ALS Society, 225-250B Greenbank Rd., Nepean Ontario, K2H 8X4, at www.alsontario.org

Peacefully at home in Gloucester after a short illness. Beloved daughter of the late Adrien Jobidon and the late Mary Raymond. Loving sister of Mary-Louise Jobidon and Angeline Albert (Roger). Predeceased by brothers Riel, Prosper, Louis and Eugene, two sisters Ernestine Jobidon and Adrienne Shellhorn. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the Annunciation of The Lord, 2414 Ogilvie Road at the Aviation Parkway on Wednesday, December 10th, 2003 from 10:30am until Funeral Service at 11am. Beloved husband of 55 years of the late Carolyn (nee O'Malley). Predeceased by infant son Joseph, his brother George and sisters Peggy Johnson and Isabel McWilliams. Beloved father of Julia (Dick), Hilary (Terry) and Greg (Michaela) and much loved grandpa of David, Diana, Bryan, Alexander and Elena. Dear brother of Ted (Anna) and Audrey Boyd and dear brother in-law of Marie O'Malley. Sincere thanks and appreciation for the care and compassion of Dr. Bloom, the staff of Rideau I South and Emily at the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre. Beloved wife and companion of Roger. Loving mother of Chris and Beth. Dear sister of Lisa, Catherine, Beth, Mary Kate and Amy. Flo faced cancer and found through it opportunity for personal growth and understanding. She died at home in peace with the love of her extended family and friends. She and her family received unfailing support from numerous health care workers at all levels. In particular she wanted to thank Sheryl McDiarmid and Rita Blattman. It is difficult to express the full extent of Flora and her family's gratitude to Dr. Vince Young for his fifteen years of skilled care and compassion. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. November 15, 2003 - November 27, 2003.passed away peacefully at home at the age of 12 days. Loving daughter of Jason Kelly and Irene Armstrong. Dearest and loving granddaughter of Gerry and Kathy Kelly, Doug and Adele Crich and John Armstrong. Reily will be sorely missed by the great-grandparents. Dear niece of Joe Kelly, Shawn and Amanda Neuman, Kathryn and Allison Armstrong, Jarrett and Jordan Crich. Reily will be sadly missed by many other relatives and friends. Friends may visit at the McGarry Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel, 139 Valley Road, Wakefield on Wednesday, December 3, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. A Service of Angels will be Celebrated at St. Camillus Roman Catholic Church, 44 Plunkett Road, Farrellton, Quebec on Thursday at 11a.m. Interment Parish cemetery. Longtime employee of the Ottawa Journal Suddenly on December 2, 2003, at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband of Mary Jean. Loving father to Julie (Frank) Sculland, Bruce (Diana) Kerr, and father-in-law to Barbara Kerr. Dear Grandpa to Jason, Erin, Kimberly, Katrina, Melissa and James. He is also survived by his brother Ronald (Lyn) Kerr and sister Marjorie (Peter) McGann. Keith was predeceased by his son David and his sister Jean. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Wednesday, December 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Capital Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute.

William Thomas James (Bill) King - 12/04/2003

Loving husband of Judith, son of William Edward King, nephew of John Thomas (Jack)King, cousin of Ken King, passed away on December 3, 2003 at 59 years of age at the Queensway Carleton Hospital from complications related to his battle with cancer. Bill was predeceased by his mother Peggy Lillian (Frost) King. Born in Cambridge, England, Bill was raised and educated in Canada where he began his career with Bell Canada as a coin collector. After moving successfully through sales and management positions in several Bell companies, Bill retired in December 1997. He always enjoyed life and retirement allowed Bill to devote full time to what was important to him, sharing his love for life and his good humor with his wife, his family in Canada and Martinique, and his many friends. Bill was always busy with his new building projects using his collection of tools and his gadgets. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors and gardening, despite his constant (losing) battles with squirrels and racoons. Bill's written messages were a joy to receive, full of the latest news of his and Judith's activities and always expressing concern about, and interest in, the person to whom he was writing. No one ever crammed so much information onto a postcard! Kind, loving, generous Bill, always ready to help in any way he could, his family, friends and neighbours. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Judith, his father, his family and many, many friends in Canada, Martinique, the United States and Mayotte. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue on Sunday, December 7 from 12noon until service time in the chapel at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

John Kenneth (Ken) Kitching - 12/09/2003

1925-2003. Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, December 8, 2003. Beloved husband for 53 years of Margaret (Peggy). Dear father of Gillian Cullin (James) of Florida, Peter (Sylvie) of Ottawa and Steven (Ann) of Dubai, U.A.E. Cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Allison and Simone. Dear brother of Margaret Parodi of Arizona. Born and raised in Manchester, England, Ken arrived to Canada in 1956, where he worked for Bell Canada for 25 years as a professional engineer in Hull and Montreal. Until the age of 75, he travelled the world for United Nations, C.I.D.A and C.E.S.O. Private cremation. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 154 Somerset St. (at Elgin), Ottawa, on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements in care of the Memorial Funeral Home of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.

Loving mother of the late Gertrude Gobbi, Conrad (Marguerite Grenier), Monsignor Gilles, Rita (Barry Cale), Lucile (Claude Tourigny), Gérard (Suzanne St. Germain), Denis (Carmen Richer), André (Bernadette Prud'Homme) and Jean (Joanne Lalonde). Dear mother-in-law of Geno Gobbi (Betty Marlow). Also loved by her 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Marguerite (Jean-Roch) and Gilbert (Cécilia) and sister-in-law of Berthe, Cécile, Antonine, Claire and Lucille. Predeceased by her brothers and sister Ovide (the late Aurore), Léo (the late Yvette), Alusia (the late Ludger), Jean-Louis (Lucille), Emile (the late Rhéa, and Roland(the late Simone). Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway, on Thursday, December 4, 2003 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9pm and Friday, December 5 from 9am followed by a Funeral Mass at Ste. Geneviève Roman Catholic Church, 825 Canterbury Avenue at 11am. A private interment will be held in Saint-Paul cemetery , Plantagenet. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Room H2-1 40 Ruskin Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1Y 4W7 would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank the devoted staff at Camilla Gardens Residence.
