STRUMPF, Phyllis (née Batist). In New Brunswick, New Jersey, on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014 at the age of seventy-six. Beloved wife of Manny with whom she would have celebrated her fifty-seventh anniversary on December 22. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Lori and Ron Dritz of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Jeff Strumpf of Springfield, NJ. Cherished grandmother of Scott Dritz, Beth Strumpf, and Jennifer Strumpf. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Philip and Gertrude Batist, and Lionel Batist. Predeceased by her parents Louis and Bessie Batist, and by her sister Harriet Batist. Phyllis will be fondly remembered by many cousins throughout the U.S., Canada and in Europe, and by many adoring friends from wherever she lived and traveled. She touched the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact. Born in Montreal on November 3, 1938, she and her husband lived in Mount Vernon, NY, and in Milford, CT for over fifty years before relocating to Monroe Township, NJ four years ago to be closer to her family. She also accompanied her husband to North Carolina during his two-year tour of duty with the U.S. Army. Prior to retiring in 2000, she was an Administrative Associate in the Endocrinology Department of the Yale University School of Medicine, where she worked for over twenty years. Mrs. Strumpf was graduated with high honors from Albertus Magnus College, New Haven, CT. A member of Congregation Beit Shalom, Monroe Twp., NJ, she was a former long-time member of Congregation Or Shalom, Orange, CT. October 10, 1954 – December 17, 2014. Dearly beloved father of Jennifer (Andrew), Andrea and Michael. Son of Evelyn and the late William Borsuk. Youngest of four brothers.
