Rickey (Rubin) Hirsch
At the age of ninety, on Friday, January 31, 2015, with his much loved companion, Beatrice by his side. Predeceased by his devoted wife, Alice. Father of Pierro (Debora) and Annabelle. Grandfather of Jamie and Elise. Brother of Marcella and Marianna. He will be greatly missed by his niece, Shula, nephews, Rony, Moshe and Adrian, his many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, great-great-grandnieces and great-great-grandnephews, and a legion of friends. Rickey was a Holocaust survivor. A man with flair, he had an interesting and dynamic personality, with endless enthusiasm and curiosity. Rickey spent many years championing driver education and road safety. For many years he attended courses in the Psychology Department at Concordia University through their Seniors Study Program. Rickey was an energetic and dedicated supporter and volunteer with Hope & Cope and with Entraide Bénévole Métro. He was also a Governor of the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and a member of the Jewish General Hospital Foundation. Rickey was an accomplished artist (painter), working in studio with Ross Shorer for many years. At the young age of fifty-one years, on Sunday, February 1, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Beloved son of Sylvia and the late Gerald Potofsky. Stepson of the late Jack Rottenberg. ARONOVITCH, Gale (née Gluz). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gale on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Daughter of the late Riva and the late David Gluz (Holocaust survivors). The most loving mother of Dov and Aviva Aronovitch. Beloved wife of Joseph. Cherished sister and sister-in-law of Arnold and Eileen (Haimovitz), Annette and Eric Ittah, Jacob and Judith (White). She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Eran, Mychael and Tamara Ittah; Ilana and Adam (AJ) Gluz; Jasamine, Alissa and Brahm Gluz; as well as her cousins, and aunt and uncle. Gale will be fondly remembered by her special cousin Annette Burlin. She was the heart of our family that bonded us all together. We will always remember her smile, humor and positive outlook on life. Our memories of her will live on in our hearts and she will be greatly missed in all our lives. It is with great sadness that Bernard’s family announces his sudden and peaceful passing on Monday, January 26, 2015. Loving and devoted husband and soulmate of Bernice Berg for fifty-nine years. Devoted and respected father and father-in-law of Brahm, Derrick and Luana (Fruchter) and the late Leslie (Fish), Sheryl and Bryan (Altshuller), and Bruce. Adored and cherished Zaidie of Jamie and Jason (Leb), Jared and Lisa (Vesely); Aaron and Erica (Green), Jonathan, and Michael; Ryan Blumenthal, Ariel, and Leigh Gantman; Shaun and Daniel Altshuller.
