Naomi Kahane

KAHANE, Naomi Riva of Montreal died on Friday, February 20, 2015. She was born on August 25, 1932 in Montreal to Jenny and Morris Signer. She lived a full life, nurturing others and growing all the way through. She earned a Master’s degree in Library Science at McGill and was children’s librarian at the Fraser Hickson Library. She married Bernie Kahane and raised three sons, Adam, David, and Jed. She was a weaver, creating beautiful hammocks, rugs, and Jewish talleissim and hangings, and co-founding the Farfelu Artist’s Cooperative in Knowlton, Quebec. She and Bernie restored a farmhouse in the Eastern Townships, farmed the land, and preserved, froze, and cooked its bounty. Later she went back to school, got a Master’s in Applied Human Sciences, and reinvented herself as a facilitator, coach, and teacher. She built rich friendships and was there with love for those around her, offering laughs, opinions, curiosity, compassion, and unrelenting determination to enjoy her life. 1928 - 2015. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hyman Zetovitch, on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the age of eighty-six. He was a long-time top life insurance agent and retiree at Sun Life Insurance, where he was very proud to have earned a Commercial Life Underwriter's Certificate (C.L.U.). Hy was a man who loved to discuss politics and finance issues enthusiastically, followed opera with great devotion, and could sing just about every hit song from the 50's and 60's with great ardor.
