Cherished Bubby of Allison and Benjamin, Adam and Darleen, Jordan and Nicole, and Jessica; Thomas, Alex, Emilie, and Geneviève. Proud great-grandmother of Connor, Jaiden, Ava, Noah, Owen and Liam. Robert Henry Klein
Klein, Robert Henry. December 28, 1942 - March 3, 2015. Peacefully in Los Angeles on Tuesday March 3, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children. Beloved husband of Marian. Loving father of Randolph Klein, and Laura Klein Lipson (Jeff). Stepfather of Lori Kaminsky, and Joanne Dossick. Proud grandfather of Sasha and Jaden Lipson. Big brother of Bonnie Billick, Sandra Klein, and the late Vivian Rabinovitch. Favorite uncle and great-uncle. Formerly of Montreal, Robert was successful entrepreneur and advisor, known for his honor and ethics. He placed family above all else (even golf, skiing and world travel). We will miss him but he will always be in our hearts.
Immanuel Braverman
BRAVERMAN, Immanuel. Peacefully, at home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the age of ninety-two. Beloved husband of Shirley Pripstein for sixty-four years. Proud father and father-in-law of Ronnie, Neri and Aron (Tischler), Sharon and Gilles (Brassard). Cherished “Sabba” of Daniel, Jesse, and Jonah Braverman; Yael, Ben, and Raphy Tischler; and Toby Sirzyk. Brother-in-law of Moishe Pripstein. Uncle of Jeremy, Laura and Dylan (Aster), and the late David Pripstein. Cousin of Itzik Pripstein, Raph and Alex Lipski. Born in Poland, Immanuel served in the Polish army during WWII, and survived brutal conditions in a Soviet prison camp. Despite his terrible war experiences, he volunteered to fight in the 1948 Israeli War of Independence. In Canada, he was a scholarship engineering student at McGill University during the era of quotas on Jewish students. An avid outdoorsman, Immanuel was a downhill and cross-country skier, mountain hiker, rock-climber and sailor. He was one of Quebec’s oldest white-water kayakers, still paddling at age ninety-one. He was a firm believer in education and sharing what he learned, whether it was intellectual knowledge or the latest kayak-rolling technique. He volunteered and taught people of every race and religion. His last act was to bestow his engineer’s ring on his grandson. Heartfelt thanks to CLSC nurse Katarzyna Mis and the home Palliative Care Team of NOVA. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jennifer Friedmann, Dr. Lama Sakr and the Pulmonary-Oncology Team at the Jewish General Hospital.
