BLACH, Prof. Dr. Adolf. Sadly passed away on the 2nd of October at the Montreal General Hospital, at the age of seventy-three. He will be deeply missed by his wife Irene, his sons Wolfgang, Peter and Stephan, his daughters-in-law, his six grandchildren, his sister, his brothers and his sisters & brothers-in-law, as well as by all relatives and friends. Our many happy memories of Dolfi (Opapi to his grandchildren) will help us all through this sorrowful time and through our grief. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont, (514) 279-6540. BOIRE, Gerald. On October 1, 2003, passed away peacefully at eighty-four years, surrounded by family at L'Hopital Sacre Coeur de Montreal. WWII Veteran, retired from Hydro Quebec, life long member of Boys Scouts of Canada, former Commissioner St. Laurent Catholic School Board. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee McLaren). Will be sadly missed by son Michael (Catherine) from Kingston, daughters Frances (Robert) from Ottawa, Karen (Frank) and Barbara Ann from Toronto and grandchildren Steven, Annemarie, Benedicte, Matthew, Elizabeth Ann and Allison. Brother to Yvonne, Anthony, and Albert (Thelma). Brother-in-law to Louise (Bernard), Donald, Ann and Dorothy. Predeceased by Cecilia, Marin, Bill, Francis, Charles and Bernard. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home, 1640 Cote Vertu, St. Laurent (514) 331-1104 on Sunday, October 5 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish, 11775 Filion, on Monday, October 6 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery. CHAPMAN, George Ernest. 1916 - 2003. Died peacefully on September 28 at the age of eighty-seven, surrounded by his family. Born in Bath, England, the decorated WWII R.A.F. Veteran is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Marie Emily Draper, his children Lynn (Victor), Philip (Jo-ann), David, Peter (Irene), Christopher (Corine), Richard (Liza), Suzanne (Michael) and grandchildren, Ashley, Stephanie, Kerry (Tim), Krista, Shannon, Aylish and Jake. He was a devoted husband and father, was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The family deeply appreciates the exceptional care he received at the CHSLD Vigi Reine Elizabeth and sends a special thank you to Anne Bibor. She leaves to mourn her daughters Annie (Jean), Isabelle (Eric) and Valerie (Nick), her grandchildren Emily, Christopher and Valerie, her sister Nini (Pierre), her brothers Michel (Louise) and Denis (Denise), and her companion Don MacKinnon. Visitation at Aubry & Fils Funeral Home, 434 Main Rd., Hudson, Quebec on Sunday, October 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, located at 413 Main Rd. in Hudson. ARNOLD, Douglas William. Veteran WWII and retired Air Canada. At the Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines, Ontario on November 29, 2003 after a lengthy illness, aged eighty-one years. Doug leaves his beloved wife Helene, son Bill (Ellen) and predeceased by daughter June (Dave Bell). Also survived by sister Joan Nebbs of Winnipeg. He was most proud of his grandchildren Carolyn and Christine Bell and Eric and Mark Arnold. He will be sadly missed by them. A private family service will be held at a later date. Helene will receive friends and neighbours at her home on December 14 between 2 and 4 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Lung Association.

BAUER (Adolf), Else (nee Vogel). Born November 15, 1920 in Brienne, Romania, passed away peacefully December 1, 2003 at the Jewish General Hospital. Daughter of the late Theresa Vogel (nee Lang) and the late Otto Vogel. Else Adolf set sail with children Sig and Linda from Germany arriving in Quebec City September 18, 1953 as landed immigrants to Canada. Subsequently married to Ludwig Bauer in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario, Else Bauer became also mother of Peter, Luise (Monika) and Rodger (Lothar). Survived by husband Ludwig, she will be sadly missed by immediate and extended family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Germany and California. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Jewish General and Lakeshore General Hospitals, Doctor Howard Cohen, Residence Ducharme, the Hunkeler family and friends Margaret and Gerty who all offered their generous support. BOURNE, Maria (nee Haapalainen). In Ottawa on November 29, 2003, four days after her ninety-fourth birthday. Beloved wife for 59 years of the late James Douglas Bourne. Dearest mother of Diana Halpin (Robert). Survived by her dear sisters Aino Tjader, Elvi Ronkainen of Finland, and Ida Green of Seattle. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, loving friends and their families. Born in Sotkamo, Finland, she immigrated to Canada in 1928. After studying to become a couturiere at Madame Cotnoir-Capponi's Academy, she operated her own small fashion boutique in Montreal. An extraordinarily talented person, her creativity ranged from clothing, needlepoint and sails, to boats, decorations and health-conscious cooking. She sailed for 30 summers here and in Finland, skiied cross-country until 9 years ago and recently still was walking with her ski poles. Her "sisu" carried her courageously through her life until the end. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Michael's Finnish Church, the Ottawa Heart Institute, the V.O.N. or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held in January, 2004 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 400 Sparks Street, Ottawa.
