SCHULZ, Magda (nee Grossmann). Passed away peacefully on September 6, 2003. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Frantisek for over sixty years. Devoted mother of Jan and cherished Grandma of Caroline and Matthew. Very much loved aunt of Jarmila, Natalie and Daniel. COURTNEY, Kathleen (nee Keenan). Kathleen Mary Courtney, eighty-seven, of Montreal, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 20, 2003 at the Ottawa General Hospital. Born September 2, 1916 in Johnville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Mary (Sweeney) Keenan. Kathleen was an active member of her church at St. Monica's where she performed as their organist for over fifty years. She is survived by her husband Thomas Francis Courtney; five children, Donald, Keenan (Debbie), Mary, Margaret and Joan (Joseph); six sisters, Beatrice Ross (Jim), Evelyn Catterson (Dr. Alistair), Lillian Bibby (Jim), Marie Gallagher, Joan Kenny (Robert), Monica Jurosky; a brother, Robert (Margaret); grandchildren, Marc, Chantelle, Stephen, Christine, Melissa and Steven, great-grandchildren Marriah, Sean and Briana; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Helen Mahoney, Olga Hewitt; brothers Alvin, Henry, Avery, Frank and Frederick Keenan. Funeral service will be held at St. Monica's Church, 6405 de Terrebonne St., on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at 12 p.m. (noon). HANDFIELD, Steven M. Passed away suddenly in his sleep at his parent's home on December 22, 2003 at the age of forty-seven. Loving son of Nancy and Mike, brother of Thomas (Helen) and Ronald (Ingrid). He is also survived by four nieces, four nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. Husband for sixty-one years to his beloved wife, the late Margaret Ellen Lavery (nee Cooper), brother to Dan Lavery (Eileen) of Danville, Ill., and brother to Margaret Wilson (Bill) of Toronto; father to Mike Lavery (Susan) of Calgary, Donald Lavery of Stockholm, Sweden, Jane Lavery-Leja (Ted) of Belleville, and John Lavery (Claire Dionne) of Gatineau; grandfather to John, Will, Oliver, Charles-Eric, Madeleine and Catherine Lavery, and to Alison, James and Alexandra Leja; step-grandfather to Thomas and Andrea Fogh and proud great-grandfather to Marcus, Lucas and Kaia. Graduate of Victoria College, retired Senior Partner of Deloitte & Touche, Past President of Rotary Club of Toronto Eglinton, sometime elder of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Past Captain of Royal Montreal Golf Club and member of the Roger Bacon Society; avid golfer, curler and friend, he will be remembered for his sparkling dry sense of humour, his work ethic and his sense of fair play. Special thanks to the caregivers at the Belmont Longterm Care Facility and Bridge Street Retirement Home for their care and patience.
