Frances Kucharsky

KUCHARSKY, Frances (nee Yaffe). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Kucharsky, on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, after a lengthy illness, at the age of ninety-two. Beloved and devoted wife of the late Norman. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Cyndi and Max Mintzberg, Judy Kucharsky and Arthur Hiess, and Danny Kucharsky. Cherished grandmother of Kara, Joelle, Jaclyn and Benjamin Mintzberg; Rebecca and Jordana Hiess. Sister of the late Saul Yaffe. Daughter of the late Bessie and the late Joseph Yaffe. Frances was a true original – an independent woman and a progressive thinker with an incredible zest for life. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, September 7 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Russian Polish Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Alvin and Karen, Robert and Sharon. Cherished Zaidie of Brooke, Jill, Andrew and Max. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters who perished in the Holocaust. A Holocaust survivor himself, Kopel will be sadly missed by his family, many friends, and all of those whose lives he touched. Predeceased by her adored brothers and sisters Bill, Sammy ,Ben, Michael, Paul, Irving, Adele, Bettie, Freda and Zena, and in-laws, the late Abe Carson, and her dearest sister-in-law the late Billie Solomon. Survived by her brother-in-law Leon Carson (Dorice). Lillian will be very sadly missed by her many special nieces, nephews, their children and grand-children. Daniel Lazare

LAZARE, Daniel. Peacefully, in his sleep, on Thursday, September 20, 2012, in his eightieth year, attended to by his beloved wife of 47 years, Luca Lazare, and by his children Stephan (Steph), Eric (Ricky) and Michelle (Micha) Lazare. Daniel is also survived by his brother Jack, sister-in-law Harriet, sister Susan, brother-in-law Otto, his grandchildren Matthew, Erin, Avery and Stella, many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Having graduated from McGill University in 1956 with his Law degree; Daniel practiced as an attorney until 1965 when he and brother Jack founded Gamma Records Ltd. In 1970 Daniel partnered with Terry Flood, Donald Tarlton (Donald K. Donald), Bob Lemm, and Jack Lazare to form Aquarius Records Ltd, another independent Canadian label. He enjoyed travelling to both Vermont and Florida where he pursued his love of skiing and tennis. He will be dearly missed by all. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. Shiva at his home from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Sunday and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday.
