Hill, Lawrence
Suddenly at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital on Monday December 14th, 2009, at the age of 76 years. Lawrence Bernard Hill, beloved husband of Linda Irwin and dear father of Cindy, Cynthia Marie (Paul Garbutt) and Scott (Laurie). Larry was the cherished grandfather of Matthew and Sean Garbutt. Larry is survived by his sister Kathleen (Tootie) Fisher (Bob). Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St. Sherbrooke (Lennoxville) (819)564-1750 where family and friends may call on Thursday December 17, 2009 from 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday December 19, 2009 from 2 to 3 pm followed by the funeral service at 3 pm with the Rev Heather Thomson officiating. Interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2630, rue King Ouest, Bureau 150, Sherbrooke (Québec) J1J 2H1 would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Nicholson Drew, Florina

DREW, Florina Peacefully at the Grace Christian Home on Wednesday, September 7th 2005, surrounded by her family at the age of 84 years, passed away Florina Beatrice Nicholson, beloved wife of the late Stanley Drew and loving mother of Ronald (Cynthia), Marilyn (Kirke Wells), Malcolm (Denise) and Robert (Nicole). Cherished grandmother of 8 grandchildren and of 15 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Edna (late George Soutiere), Leona (Leslie Cook), Doris (Ellie Cunnington), Alice (Harvey Malcolm), Marion (Gilles Desmarais), Ernest (Marilyn Gilmartin) and Shirley (late Roger Desruisseaux). She was predeceased by her sister Ida (late Garnet Howes). Resting at the Huntingville Community Church, 1399 Campbell avenue, Huntingville on Friday September 9th 2005 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday September 10th from 1 to 2 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm, Pastor Terry Lapointe officiating. Nelson, William (Bill) Robert

Passed away peacefully with his loving wife and family by his side, at the CHUS Fleurimont on Thursday, June 23rd, 2005, Bill Nelson at the age of 75. Beloved husband of 50 years, short one month, to Shirley Hebert and cherished father of Trenholm (Pauline Antink), Douglas (Francine Béliveau) and Judy (Michael Morin), " Papa " will be very sadly missed by eight grandchildren; Lee Ann, Tiffany, Kira, Adam, David and Sarah Nelson, and Katelyn and Jacob Morin. Son of the late Edwin and Kathleen Nelson. Bill also leaves to mourn his brother Kenny (the late Patricia), his brother-in-law Bobby (Myrna), sister's-in-law Gail (Peter) and the late Velma (Howard) along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 295 Principale St, S.Richmond (819) 826-2502 , where friends may visit on Monday, June 27th from 1 to 2:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:30pm in the Melbourne Ridge Church, followed by the interment in St-John's Cemetery, Gallup Hill. Pessig, Ferdinand
Passed away peacefully on Friday July 8, 2011, Ferdinand Pessig, at the age of 91. Loving husband of the late Anne Schroeder, dear father of Henry (Pepi Pessig) and Valerie (Roger Cyr), grandfather of Tony, Lisa, Patricia, Roger and David and great grandfather of 8. Fred was a commissioner of Boy Scouts of Canada and a leader over 50 years. He retired from Ingersall Rand afer 35 years of service. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St., Sherbrooke, where friends may visit on Wednesday July 13, 2011 from 1 pm to 2 pm followed by a memorial service in the Funeral Home at 2 pm., with Ven. Dean Ross officiating. Interment in the Waterville Cemetery at a later date. Smith, Andrew
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Andrew Smith on May 5th, 2016, at the age of 72 years old. Son of the late Andrew Smith and the late Joan Marshall.

Beloved husband of Gail Young and dear father of Janet (Keith Hadley), Tracey (Peter Jacklin), and Erin (Marc Lussier). Cherished grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his brothers, David, Ronald (Joan), Micheal (Benita), Gary (Sue), Randy (Brenda) and Brian (Pauline). Andrew was predeceased by his brother Geoff (the late Gloria). He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242 North Hatley, on Thursday, May 12th 2016 starting at 3:00 pm. All welcome.

Sisco Vachon, Dorothy
Peacefully at the Connaught Home on March 31, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Everett Vachon.

Dorothy will be remembered fondly by her sons Derek (Eleonore) and David; her grandchildren Stephan, Karen and Marc, and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Charles (Suzanne).

Passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the age of 83. Cherished wife of Gordon and precious mother of: Sandra (Carl), Wendy (Brian) Kimberley, Karen (James), and Scott (Trudy). Loving grandmother of : Jeremy, Stven, Stuart, Rebecca, Christina, Gordon, Victoria, and William. Strickland, James M.
James Maxwell Strickland passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 in his 94th year.

Son of the late James and Dorothy Strickland and predeceased by his sister Alice (Thissen). He leaves to mourn his cousins: Alfred and Gertrude Jean (Gilmore) Whittier, Annie Whittier (Hébert), Grace Whittier (Armstrong), George Whittier, and Carol Whittier (Hall); as well as many friends and associates.

LCol. Strickland will be remembered in military circles as Commanding Officer of the Sherbrooke Hussars during the unit’s centennial in 1967. He was active in sports, drama and cycling.

By arrangements with Cass Funeral Home, visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at St. George’s Church, 84 Queen, Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), from 1 pm to 2 pm, followed by the funeral service. Interment at the Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.

Stratton Wing, Rita
1921 – 2015 Rita Stratton Wing passed away at the Connaught Home on December 19th, 2015 at the age of 94. Rita is predeceased by her husband Alton Clayton Wing and son Richard.

She leaves to mourn her sons Douglas and Mike (Marie-Paule Champagne), her ten grandchildren and their children as well as numerous other relatives and friends. To honour Rita wishes a private funeral service will be held at a later date.

Meigs, Guy
Passed away at his residence in Ayer’s Cliff, QC., on Friday August 21, 2009, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Edna May Salter and loving father of: Donna (Dennis), Edward (Sylvie), Margaret (Myles), Jack (Gayle), Frances (Todd), and Alison. Dear grandfather of eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Guy will also be sadly missed by his sisters Frances (Gordon) and Betty. He was predeceased by his brother Earl. MacDonald, Malcolm
Passed away peacefully at the Connaught Home in North Hatley on July 12, 2009. Malcolm(Mac) was born to William and Annie Donoughy (MacDonald) on September 13, 1917 in Stornoway Quebec. He was educated in Quebec and in 1940 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Ottawa. Following training in Canada and overseas he was posted to 76 Squadron Bomber Command in England where he met and married his beloved wife of 65 years, Joan D. Hemingway. As a pilot, Mac flew 40 missions in the Halifax Heavy Bombers over heavily defended targets in enemy occupied Europe. His skill and valour merited the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mac exemplified the 76 squadron motto "Resolute", Following the war, Mac worked with The Royal Bank of Canada and later Butterfield division of Litton Industries where he retired as treasurer-comptroller. Mac served as District Governor of Rotary International and President of the Rotary Club of the Boundary. He was recently honored for 60 years of service by the Mason' s Golden Rule Lodge. He was a trustee of Stanstead College, President of the Historical Society, member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Founder and President of the Border Curling Club. Mac loved spending time with his family and friends. Mac was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed many sports including playing semi-pro hockey, golfing at Dufferin Heights, and continued cross country skiing after becoming blind. He will be sadly missed by his adoring wife Joan and his children: John (Lise) of Swanton Vermont, Heather (Douglas) of Rancho Mirage, California and Keith of Phoenix Arizona; along with his grandchildren Katie and Derek MacDonald of South Burlington, Vermont, his sister Bernice Crawford of Stanstead, many loved nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated caregivers who provided wonderful care over the years, in particular Wendy Johnson and more recently Sandy Klinck and her staff at the Connaught Home in North Hatley, Quebec. Mac was predeceased by his brothers Stanley and Wilbur, sister Merdina Davidson and his infant son Donald. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009, in Christ Church, 550 rue Dufferin, Stanstead, QC. ;

Passed away peacefully at the C.S.S.S. Memphremagog on Friday, July 10, 2009, at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Ronald W. Wilson and loving mother of the late Ronald A. Wilson. Dear mother-in-law of Francine. Alice will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Joanne (Robert), Patricia (Edmond), and Steve; along with her great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Adam, Thomas and Mathieu, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. There will be visitation in the presence of her ashes at the Advent Church in Beebe on Friday, July 17 where friends may visit from 1:15 to 2:00 p.m. followed by the service.
