Gagnon, William

Passed away peacefully at the Knowlton House, Knowlton, QC, on June 3, 2011, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Eva Newberry, predeceased by sisters Florence and Maggie, survived brother of Jiggs (Albert) and Irene, many relatives and friends and his best friend Nutzoff, his cat. Jim was a proud veteran of World War II. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Ste Elizabeth Catholic Cemetary, North Hatley, QC, Rev. J. Potter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the SPCA, CP 10, Succ Snowdon, Montreal, QC H3X 9Z9.

Tweed, Arnold

Passed away peacefully at the CSSS Memphremagog, Magog, QC on Monday, September 5th 2005. Arnold Tweed, in his 94th year, beloved husband of Ethel Nutbrown.At Mr. Tweed request, there was cremation and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Gordon Wood, Alma

Peacefully at the Wales Home on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 at the age of 85. Alma Elizabeth Gordon beloved wife of the late Leonard Wood and loving mother of Grant (Patricia) of Mississauga, Ont., Cameron (Yoon Hyun Jung) of Seoul, South Korea, and Catherine (Allan Marshall) of Lennoxville. Cherished Nanny of Sean (Josée), Bryan (Sylvie) and Heather, and proud Great-Nanny of Madison and Tristan. Alma is also survived by her sister-in-law Doris Gordon, nephew Robert Gordon, niece Sandy Williams and her cousins Mavis Smyth and Ross Wood. Alma will also be sadly missed by her many loving caregivers at the Wales Home. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St., Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), 819-564-1750 where friends may call on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 1 – 3 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m., the Ven. Turnbull, Robert

Peacefully at the Argyll Pavillon, Sherbrooke, Que., on Friday, August 19th 2005 in his 84th year. Robert Turnbull beloved husband of Beulah Vintinner of Lennoxville, Que, and dear father of Dave (Mary-Ann), Robert Michael (Adele), Bruce and Andrew; Robert was the cherished grandfather of Christopher, Craig, Brian, Jennifer, Melinda, Christina and Diane; and great-grandfather of Derrick, Shane and Mia. He is survived by his sister, Peggy (Glenson Vintinner), also many nieces and nephews. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 6 Belvidere St, Lennoxville, Que., where friends may visit on Monday, August 22nd, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Lennoxville United Church on Tuesday, August 23rd 2005 at 11 am., with the Rev. Barbara Willard officiating. Interment in the Lakeside Cemetery, Bishipton, Que. As memorial tributes, donations to the Lennoxville United Church or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be appreciated by the family.

Tait, Ian

We are all saddened at the news of Ian's passing at CHUS Fleurimont Hospital, on Thursday, April 21st 2005 at the age of 57. Ian was raised in Granby, the son of the late Thomas Tait and the late Kathleen Eadie. Beloved husband of Ginette Bernard. Ian leaves to mourne his dear sister Joyce, his aunt Joyce Love and cousins Sally and John all of B.C. His brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mario and Johanne Bernard and Charlotte Bernard. His dearest friends: Brian Higgins and Jan Draper; his godchildren Molly Higgins and Dany Hickie; his nieces and nephews: Mélanie, Patrick, Nancy and Jeffrey and their spouses, also many other relatives and friends. Although Ian traveled extensively, he always called the Townships home, and he returned to complete his studies at Bishop's University and l'Université de Sherbrooke. Ian joined the staff of Champlain College where he was a popular teacher and colleague. Ian's many interest ranged from First Nation peoples to local folklore. He was a regular contributor to CBC radio where his local knowledge added to Townships lore. In 1976, Ian met Ginette Bernard who became his lifelong love. Together they nurtured their interest in Eastern culture. Wherever he went Ian touched the lives of people he met and he will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Bishop's Campus Hangar Building, on Saturday, April 30th 2005 at 2:00pm. The family will be at the Hall one hour prior to the service to receive condolences. Ginette would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors: Eve-Reine Gagné, Bertrand Scalabrini, Pierre Charon and Xavier Mueller for the exceptional care and also to all the professional staff of the CHUS and home care givers of the CLSC. As memorial tributes, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and to the Kidney Foundation would greatly be appreciated by the family. Passed away peacefully at the Wales Home in Richmond QC, on Tuesday March 21st, 2006, Margaret Walker in her 93rd year. Daughter of the late Langford and Annie Walker, and sister of the late Claire, the late Hilda (Angus Morrison), the late Kathleen (Doug Mackay), the late Thomas (Bea) and the late Helen (Harry Evans). Margaret also leaves to mourn, her nieces, Ann, Sylvia "Pat" (the late Norm Stafford) and Diane (George Clark) along with many other relatives and friends. A celebration of Margarets life will be held at the Cass Funeral Home in Lennoxville at a later date. Kathleen Patricia Unsworth at the age of 77, beloved wife of the late Louis-Gui Papineau-Couture, dear mother of Suzanne (Michael Lloyd), Montreal, Bernard (Paulette), New Brunswick, Rose Mary (Thomas King), Ontario and Elizabeth, Sherbrooke; cherished grandmother of Paul, Stephen, Kevin, Michael, Brian, Linda, Eric and Patrick; great-grandmother of Grace, Elijah, Lukas and she also leaves to mourn many other relatives and friends. Proud grandfather of Simon, Tristan and Caitlin Wright, Alexandra and Mathieu Fecteau and Jason Côté. Loved step-father of Laurie, Shelley, Marlene and Steven; dear step-grandfather of 9. Dear brother of Murray, Mildred and Edward and the late Anne and the late Eric. Peak Wright, Thelma

At the Connaught Home, North Hatley, Thelma passed away peacefully on September 11, 2011. She was predeceased by her parents Albert Peak and Ruth (nee Elliott), her husband Arthur and her brother Grant. She leaves to mourn her life her brothers Wayne (Fran), David (Celine) and Keith (Heather). Thelma will be greatly missed by her children David "Skip" (Diane), Valerie "Cindy", Jane and Shawn, her grandchildren Andrea, Todd, John, Amy, Christopher, and Victoria, and her great-grandchildren Emma and Larkin. Thelma leaves many other relatives and friends. Resting at the St. George's Anglican Church, 84 Queen St. Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 1 to 3 pm followed by the funeral service at 3 pm. Ven Dean Ross officiating. Passed away in the presence of his loving family in the Palliative Care Unit of the Magog Hospital on Monday, October 10, 2011, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of the late Diana MacKay and cherished father of Christopher, Alexander and Lucy. Jan will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Special thanks to Doctor Valiquette and nurses Sylvie, Chantal, Christine and Diane in the Palliative care Unit for the kindness and compassionate care given to Jan. Forest Wright, beloved husband of Marcella Flanders and dear father of Hilda Heckley (Robert Bond)and the late Gertrude Heckley (Rodney Bennett). Cherished grandfather of Ashley, Tanya and Jeremy and great-grandfather of Taylor, Nicholas, Dana, Kayla and Amy. Forest is survived by his brothers Robert (Doris), Douglas (Fran), Richard (Linda) and Edwin (Zed) (Barbara) and by his sister-in-law Sylvia Flanders (Wayne) and brother-in-law Larry Flanders (Susan) also by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
