Ruth Lander

LANDER, Ruth (née Schiller). After a brief illness, on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the age of ninety-seven. Predeceased by her husband Arthur Lander, and by her parents Anna Serchuk and Charles Schiller of Quebec City. She is survived by her daughter Sybil June, and son Philip (Bonnie Shore), grandchildren Anthony (Stephanie Whiteman), Jonathan, and Michael (Maanit Zemel), and by her great-granddaughters Sophie, and Mika. Predeceased by her sisters Sylvia, Ethel, Loretta, Sybil, and by her brother Wolfe. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Special thanks to Rosemarie Williams, Anna Mylonas, Jasmin Connelly, Dena Castello, Mary Collado, and the staff of Manoir King David. Graveside service on Sunday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m., at the Jewish Assistance Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. The family will receive condolence visits at 2174 Sherbrooke St. W., on Sunday following the graveside service until 5:00 p.m., and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Mitzvah Meals Program c/o the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors, (514) 343-3529, ext. 7373. Itzhak Rosenberg

On Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Zlata. Devoted father and father-in-law of Freda and George Kreiner of Brooklyn, New York, Michael and Rebecca (Heitner) Rosenberg. Cherished Zaidie of Daniel and Erica, Matthew, Samuel, Rachel, Devorah, and Sarah. Proud great-grandfather of Alexander and William Kreiner. Predeceased by his sisters Pearl and Henia. Itzhak will be sadly missed by his niece Tova in Israel, his family, and all of those whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank the staff of Steger Residence for their loving care and compassion. Funeral service took place on Thursday, March 14. Shiva strictly private. Norman Krane

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in his eighty-first year after a courageous battle with cancer. Most beloved companion of Beatrice Kastner. Son of the late Leah and the late Ben Krasovitsky. Loving father and father-in-law of Tracy and Shawn Werbitt, Harry and Helen Krane. Cherished grandfather of Ryan Werbitt, Joshua Krane and the late Ruth Goldie Krane. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Murray and Francie Krane, Shirley and Jack Sibalis, the late Helen and the late Lou Krane, the late Evelyn and the late Srulie Israelovitch. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Eleanor Croll, his many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family is grateful to the staff of 7NW at the Jewish General Hospital. SILCOFF, Maurice. Peacefully, on Monday, March 18, 2013, in his one-hundred-and-fifth year. Devoted husband of the late Beatrice. Cherished and uniquely adored father of Joel (Janice Greenberg). Beloved Zadie of Elliott (Orit Hanannia), and Mireille (Michael Kronish); and treasured Great-Zadie of Noam, Maya, Libby, and Beatrice. Maurice was loved, and will be fondly remembered by Yaffa Handel (Alan), and Alison Silcoff. Predeceased by his brother Joe, his sister Annie Rosen, his sisters-in-law Clara Silcoff, Sybil Wolff, and Lylia Zuker, brothers-in-law Louis Rosen, Ben Herman, David Wolff, William Zuker, Calman Levy, and Gerald Kaushansky. Survived and sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Toba Herman, Frances Kaushansky, Margot Levy and by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Loving great-grandmother of Yuval, Gilad and Amitai Farkas; Kinneret and Ayala Zukor; Shaya Stotland. Dear aunt of Catherine Matyas. Sister of the late Julia Grunwald Holzmanova and the late Elza Vernova. Predeceased by her brother Erno who perished in the Holocaust. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Hymie and Sally Rothman, the late Chuma Rothman, the late Betty Rothman, the late Max and the late Gitel Rothman, the late Zelda and the late Moses Scherer, the late Joe Rothman; and sister-in-law of the late Avraham, the late Mordechai, and the late Lazar Adelsohn. Loving grandmother of Michael and Anne Silverman, Lisa and Lorne Levitt, Dr. Allison and Robert Hamou, Heidi and Jason Toledano, the late Frimie-Sue and the late Brian Silverman.
