BIENSTOCK, Hanka (née Groberg). Passed away in her sleep, on Friday September 13, 2013, in her eighty-eighth year. Beloved and caring mother and mother-in-law of Bernard, Steven (Sal), Esther (Ric) Bienstock and Richard Mortimer. Treasured Bubbie of Susy (Peaches), Jesse, Zack and Isabel. Loving great-grandmother of Juliette, Sebastian and Benjamin. A passionate, inspiring and deeply loved person, she will be missed by many. Just a month ago she was talking about how lucky she was to have lived such a wonderful and eventful life. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Beit Abraham Congregation Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Hena Werner

WERNER, Hena (Annie) née Melnik. Peacefully and with dignity, in her eighty-eighth year, on Friday, September 13, 2013 (Yom Kippur). Beloved wife of the late Shimon. Devoted and loving mother and mother-in-law of Joe and Carol, Miriam and Michael. Treasured grandmother of Aviva and Colman, Stacey and Luke, and Benjamin. Proud great-grandmother of Simon. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Chaya and the late Rachmeal Shimron of Israel, Chaim and Roslyn Melnik, Harry and Reisha Melnik. Predeceased by her parents, Faiga and Gutman. Hena will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, September 17 at 2 p.m. Burial at the Montreal Workers’ Circle Association Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at 6785 Korczak Crescent #1401, Cote St. Luc. Due to the festival of Succot, shiva ends Wednesday afternoon. She has left us having achieved a full life, full of riches and honour. May her soul be bound in the bond of eternal life.

Rose Elbaz

ELBAZ, Rose 1949-2013 Rose Elbaz passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013, at her home in Toronto, Ontario. She was born on September 29, 1949 in Jerusalem, Israel to Simon and Suzanne Elbaz. Rose grew up in Montreal acting as a surrogate mom to her many siblings in our busy household. She graduated from Outremont High School where she developed many lifelong friendships. After travelling and living through Europe and Israel, Rose returned to Montreal and completed an Honours Degree in English Literature at Sir George Williams University. Rose loved to travel, and settled in Paris for 5 years where she helped launch an Entertainment Book focused on Paris dining and accommodation. She loved Paris, and the life and many friends she made there. She returned to Toronto where she re-invented herself as an interior designer continuing in that pursuit with great success until her passing. Rose was an avid reader, loved adventure, was generous beyond her means and deeply loved, and was loved by her family. Rose is survived by her parents, and siblings, Sylvia Penney, Albert, Eli, Mike Fred and Steve Elbaz, and eleven loving nieces and nephews who are all crestfallen by her sudden and unexpected passing. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888, rue Jean Talon Ouest, on Monday, September 2 at 2 p.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane.

Zelda Marcus

MARCUS, Zelda (nee Idel). Peacefully, on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Iancu Marcus. Devoted mother and mother-in-law to Frida and Danny Ovadia. Cherished “Mami Zelda” of Alan and Ashley Ovadia, Jennifer and Jack Amar, and Amanda Ovadia (Stuart Guttman). Loving great-grandmother of Maya. Treasured daughter of the late Ita Stern and the late Avraham Stern. Adored sister of the late Betty, the late Anutza, the late Herschu, and the late Adrien. Sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A special thank you to her caregiver Betty, to Dr. Sorel Brohovici, Dr. Golda Tradounsky, Dr. Adeline Khadoury, and all the dedicated staff at Mount Sinai Hospital. JANKIELEWITZ, Mina (nee Mincberg). On Sunday, September 22, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Israel (Srulek). Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Mitchell, Gale and Victor Kardish. Cherished Bubbie of Sydney. Predeceased by her eight siblings who perished in the Holocaust. A true friend to many whom she considered her family. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Marcia Reim and Syd Stein, Bill and Marilyn Reim, Ronald and Hannah Reim, the late Irving Levinson and the late Oscar Goldman. Dearest grandmother of Elana Levinson and Ron Himelfarb, Robin and Mitchell Shell, Howard Levinson; Max Reim and Dr. Laurie Plotnick, Doug Reim and Kimberly Wenger, and Scott Reim; Lauren Reim and Michael Stolberg, and Elyse Reim. Proud great-grandmother of Jenna, Nicole, Danielle, Jaymee, Jordyn, Martin, Veronica, Josh, Erin, Gabrielle, Russell, and Olivia. Predeceased by her cherished sister Ruth (Fred Weinstein).
