BAKUN - Mertice (Keeler) passed away peacefully on December 27, 2006 at Pioneer Village, Regina. Born December 9, 1918, Mertice was predeceased by her husband, Peter; her parents, Preston and Isabella Keeler, son-in-law, Lloyd Waynert; granddaughter, Valerie Waynert; brothers, Neil, Bob, Tom and John and a sister, Clara Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Eunice (Pat) Barthelette; son, Albert Bakun (Grace Urbanczyk); grandchildren, Darlene Waynert (Don Bartok), Karen (Rob) Noga, Doug Bakun (Connie Katchuck), Dennis Bakun (Melissa Euston); great-grandchildren, Trendon, Shyla, Kalium and Kody Noga, Jessie, Shelby and Taylor Bakun; daughter-in-law, Hazel Bakun; her sister, Elsie McCaw and sisters-in-law, Doris Keeler and Pat Keeler and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitewood United Church. Interment will follow in the Whitewood Cemetery. BOWLER - On Dec. 26, 2006, Gladys Bowler, longtime homemaker of the Palmer/Gravelbourg district passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at the Foyer d'Youville, Gravelbourg, Sask. at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Fred of Gravelbourg, Sask., five children: Wes (Kathie) of Calgary, Alta., Robert (Jocelyne) of Gravelbourg, Sask., Donald of Gravelbourg, Sask., Debbie (George) Bowditch of Swift Current, Sask. and Pauline Bowler of Calgary, Alta., 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three brothers: Winston (Mary) Cragg, Melvin (Marg) Cragg and Harold (Joan) Cragg, all in Ontario, numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gravelbourg Co-Cathedral with Wendell Bailey officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Glady's memory for the St. Joseph Hospital/ Foyer d'Youville Memorial Fund (C/O Box 875, Gravelbourg, Sask. S0H-1X0) will be gratefully received. GORDON, GERALD

GORDON - Gerald (Gerry) passed away after a brief illness, at the Pasqua Hospital, on December 21, 2006. Gerry was born in Regina on September 7, 1928. He was predeceased by his mother Phyllis Gordon (Reeve); his father Clifford and his brother Elwood. Gerry leaves to cherish his memory his sister Doris Day and her son Rick of British Columbia and his sister Marjorie Muir and her family in the United States. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his cousin Joan Dixon and her family in Saskatoon and his devoted friends Lorraine and Robert McInnis, who were invaluable to him during his recent illness. Gerry was employed by Ramsay Construction as a bookkeeper until his retirement. It was during these working years that Gerry met Jack McInnis and they became the best of friends. When Jack's health began to decline and he became a resident of Wascana Hospital, Gerry visited him weekly and continued their friendship until Jack's passing in November of 2005. Gerry was a quiet man who loved home and hearth. Gerry was a generous man who regularly contributed to several charitable organizations. He would purchase ice cream in the summer months and mandarin oranges at Christmas. He would take his buddy Jack on these outings so they could both enjoy the smiles on the faces of the children residing there. Gerry's health became compromised with a severe heart attack in September 2006. He was hospitalized at that time at the Regina General Hospital and recently was transferred to the Pasqua Hospital until his passing. A special note of sincere appreciation is extended to all staff of the General and Pasqua Hospitals that cared for Gerry during his lengthy hospital stay. Your compassion and caring was sincerely appreciated. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. J. Michel for his visits with Gerry; he truly appreciated the years of excellent care given to him as your patient. Many thanks are extended to Dr. A. Aboguddah for the specialized care given to Gerry during his illness. Also a sincere thank you is extended to Dr. S. Mann and the staff at MEDEC at the Regina General Hospital for their kindness and care. In accordance with his wishes there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. HILLIS, LAWRENCE

HILLIS - Lawrence James Hillis. It was with overwhelming sadness that we said Good-Bye to our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He passed peacefully at 2:10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Royal University Hospital at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife Janice of 52 years; his son William; daughters Dianne (Ray), Sandra (Don), Frances; grandchildren Tammy (Greg), Shanna (Jose), Samatha, Brook, Courtney, Victor and Great Granddaughter Morgan; sister Helena (Banks), sisters-in-law Ivy (Hillis), Elma (Hillis) and many nephews and nieces. Dad's happiest times were being surrounded by family and friends on the farm. Dad also enjoyed golf, pool playing and backyard BBQ's.Lawrence was born in Govan in 1928. He and his family moved to Semans in 1933 where Dad grew up and farmed with his father and upon his father's retirement Dad carried on with the family farm until his retirement in 2003 when Dad and Mom moved to Saskatoon. A Family Memorial Service will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338-4th Avenue North on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Lawrence's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc, 1405 Faulkner Cres., Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5. JONES, WILLIAM

JONES - William "Murray " passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 63. Murray was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Bill Jones and brother Ted Jones. Murray is survived by his wife Sylvia of 40 years, daughters Tanya (Tracy), Allison (David), Robynn (Michael), two grandchildren, Kiah Jones and Lewis Rogers. Murray earned his civil engineering degree at the University of Waterloo and moved out west in 1979. The focus of Murray's life was his family. He was heavily involved with the Regina Lions Band and Rowing Club. He was an avid Genealogist. In lieu of flowers, please send flowers to the Regina Humane Society or try to find time to fill his place as a volunteer every other Wednesday at bingo. LANGELIER - On Wednesday, December 27th, 2006 Rose Langelier, Wolseley, Sask. and formerly of Montmartre, Sask. Age 86 years. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Montmartre on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. John Mock. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley on Friday, December 29th until 9:00 p.m. Predeceased by her first husband Walter Bank in 1967 and her second husband Charles Langelier in 1978; a son Joe Bank and a daughter Florence Bank; a stepson Raymond Langelier; her parents Frank and Helen Osiowy; a brother Stan Osiowy, sisters: Mary Burdzy, Pauline Gardener and Betty Osborne; half brothers Mike Osiowy, Tony Sikora and Paul Sikora; and a step brother Joe Sikora. Rose Langelier is survived by her children Bernie (Leanne) Bank, Regina; Joan Konechny, Edmonton; Gabe (Denise) Bank, Glenavon; Andrew Bank, Regina; her stepchildren Ron (Fay) Langelier, Regina and Debbie (Jerome) Kress, Kendal; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sisters Helen (Richard) Ehman and Katie Beaudry; a step sister Mary Bell; step sister in law Mary Reitenbach (Osiowy); step brother John (Elsie) Sikora, half brother Frank (Rosemarie) Sikora; half sisters Theresa (Ed) Ziobrowski, Agnes (Adrian) Fuchs and Martha (Bill) Yerex; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. BACKLIN - Bertil Kenneth, of Regina and formerly of Moose Jaw passed away on February 3, 2007. He was born on the family farm near Trossachs, SK on July 6, 1914. He was predeceased by his first wife Teana, three brothers and three sisters. BLACK, DONNA - On February 2, 2007, Donna Black passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital, at the age of 67 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born on November 13, 1939, in Shaunavon, SK. She was predeceased by her parents Sandy and Jennie Black, brothers in law Ben Stamm and Jack Hurlburt, sisters Isabelle Hurlburt and Jean Stamm. Donna is survived by Lee Hurlburt and family, Les (Liz) Hurlburt and family, Sandra (Seagar) Stubbington and family, Gloria (John) Phipps and family, Colleen (Merv) Gray and family, Carol (Ken) Ross and family. DANIEL - Theresa Tess passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the age of 75 years. Tess was born in Kapuskasing, ONT on February 19, 1932. She is predeceased by her parents, Augustine and Eva Cormier; brother, Tom and sisters, Alexina and Emilia. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Nick; their two sons, Don (Helen), Tom (Tammy); sisters, Geneva, Leona, Jackie; her brother, Nick (Rita); five grandchildren, Nicole (Larry), Peggy, Kayla, Colton and Bradley; five great grandchildren, Taylor, Baily, Lawerance, Kaneesha and Cheyanne. She is also survived by sisters in law, Vera, Katie, Fran, Pearl, Margret, Jean and Deana as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Tess will always be remembered by her loving family and many friends as a very loving and caring person who always had a smile on her face and a good word to say. A private family service for relatives and close friends will be held at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel interment to follow in the Prairie Plaza Columbarium with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating. Urn Bearers will be her loving grand daughters, Nicole and Peggy. MOST REVEREND MALLON - PETER JOSEPH Most Reverend Peter Joseph Mallon D.D. Archbishop Emeritus of the Regina Roman Catholic Archdiocese died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Pasqua Hospital. He was the sixth Archbishop of Regina and Metropolitan of Saskatchewan. Archbishop Mallon was born December 5, 1929 in Prince Rupert B.C. He received most of his elementary education in Prince Rupert until his family moved to Vancouver in 1943. He completed his elementary education in Vancouver then attended Christ the King Seminary where he completed his high school and began his studies for the priesthood. He was ordained priest, May 27, 1956 at Vancouver's Holy Rosary Cathedral. His first appointment was served at the cathedral as assistant for 10 years then served as Rector from 1966 to 1982. He was appointed as Chancellor of the Vancouver Archdiocese in 1964, Director of Religious Education in 1971 and in 1977 was named a Prelate of Honour with the title of Monsignor. He was appointed Pastor of St. Anthony's Parish in West Vancouver until his appointment as Bishop of the Nelson, B.C. Diocese on February 2, 1990. He was installed as Regina Archbishop July 11, 1995. He is survived by two sisters, Mary K. Mallon of Edmonton and Ann Frietag (David) and nieces Kristin and Carla of Calgary, and the clergy and laity of the Regina Archdiocese. Thanks is expressed to the Health Care personnel at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, the Pasqua and General Hospitals for their professional and compassionate care.
