WILLIAMS - On Sunday, May 30, 2004, Mary Williams, widow of Dave Williams, Echo Lodge Nursing Home, Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask., died at the age of 88 years. It's the families wish to have a private graveside service in Qu'Appelle Cemetery, Qu'Appelle, Sask., with V. Rev. Fr. D. Nenson officiating. Mary was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1974; her father, Samuel Gorenko; her mother, Margalena Gorenko (Ludba); two sisters: Anne Patchett and Evelyn Dobson; her twin brother, John Gorenko and brothers George and Lee Gorenko and is survived by her family: Bonnie (Wayne) Currie, Fort Qu'Appelle and their son, Danny; Betty (Leonard) Buote, Saskatoon, Sask. and their family, Jake and Jesse; Jim (Nadene) Williams, Fort Qu'Appelle and their family, Jarrod and Andrew; Esther (Dwight) Greig, Fort Qu'Appelle and their son, Aaron; two brothers: Mike and Alex (Kay) Gorenko, all of Yorkton, Sask. and several nieces and nephews. BOWERING - Doreen Opal (nee Carton) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, May 28, 2004 at the age of 88. Doreen is predeceased by her husband of 62 years Norman, brothers Floyd, Don and Byron "Torp ", sisters Vi Davis and Velma Baird. Left to cherish Doreen's life is her son Larry (Doreen) and their children Travis (Karen) and Tamara; her daughter Sharon (Ralph) Martin and their children Toby (Sharri), Josh (Dana) and Chelsea; sister-in-laws Letty Carton, Barbara Carton, Chris Baird and many numerous nieces and nephews. Doreen was raised in Creelman, Sask. She met Norman in Fleming at the "Bagus " Farm and they married in 1942 at Creelman. During the war years Doreen worked in Regina and ran a boarding house. The love of her life was being a homemaker and mother for her husband and their two children and their grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and always had a fresh batch of cinnamon buns ready for anyone who visited. They travelled to various points in Sask. with the Dept. of Indian Affairs and returned to Fort Qu'Appelle in 1962 where she resided until the time of her death. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy # 1 East, on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mary was predeceased by her husband Joe, parents Frank and Pauline Brunner, brothers George, Frank and Joe, her sisters Annie Forester and Sophie Meckling. She is survived by her nephews Ernest (Jean) Meckling, Bernard (Patricia) Brunner, Lawrence (Marylou) Brunner, George Jr. (Joyce) Brunner, John (Maureen) Brunner, Mike (Katherine) Brunner, nieces Pauline (Cliff) Middleton, Ilene (Rod) Norton, Margaret Peterson, Catherine (Jack) Knap, Dolores Richardson, Therese (Kenneth) Duffner, Marie (James) Humphrey, Gertrude (James) Clancy, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart R. C. Church, 1380 Elphinstone Street with Rev. A. Vandendriessche, Celebrant. ERICK - Shirley Althea (McAlpine) Erick passed away May 29, 2004. She was born May 20, 1931 in Oungre, SK., to Robert and Marjorie McAlpine. Shirley is predeceased by her brother, Wayne McAlpine; sisters-inlaw, Francis Emmel and Tooty Erick; and brothers-in-law George Emmel and Joe Erick. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Valentine Erick; her children, Rick Erick, Debra (Blaine) Frank, Keith (Anna) Erick, Carol (Carl) Kuntz; seven grandchildren Jolie (Stacy) Jeffs and Jennifer Erick, Jason and Aaron Frank, Craig and Sheena Erick, and Tyler Kuntz; four greatgranddaughters Jensen Frank, Taylor Hembroff, Chloe Jeffs, and Kirby Erick. She is also survived by her sisters Karen (Ron) Martin, Kathleen (Larry) Johnston, and Helen Makelki; her brothers Doug (Peggy) McAlpine, Bob (Louise) McAlpine, and Bill (Kaye) McAlpine; and her sister-in-law Dorothy Bartlett. Shirley also left behind inlaws Levine (Jim) Frank, Minnie (Vic) Miller, and Dennis (Elaine) Erick; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. Until 1992 Shirley resided in Oungre where she was an active member in many community groups. She was a familiar face at the Oungre Regional Park where she enjoyed golfing and bowling. Shirley was an avid lover of softball and once she was no longer able to play she found time to cheer for the Toronto Blue Jays. Shirley was also a longtime member of the Oungre UCW. Her career as a librarian sparked her love for reading and increased her abilities at Scrabble and crossword puzzles. Shirley was also a keen bridge player. Although occupied by these many activities, Shirley still found time to enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During any spare time, Shirley loved to cook and bake as well as, garden and knit. Shirley and Val retired in Weyburn, where they continued to be active in the community. Shirley is loved by many and will be fondly remembered. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 31st, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, Sk. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery at a Later Date. Donations may be made in memory of Shirley to the Weyburn General Hospital Palliative Care Fund or Charity of Choice. PUSCHELBERG - On Wednesday, August 20, 2003, Mr. Trevor Puschelberg, age 59, of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Trevor leaves to remember him, his loving wife of 35 years Pat; daughters; Sharon and Dawn (Javier) Paez; grandchildren; Tarryn, Chelsey, Conor, Josh, Shayla, Christian, Sydney and Jayden; sister Ardus Chomyshen of Calgary, AB. numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Trevor is predeceased by his parents Harry and Evelyn Puschelberg. Trevor owned and operated Riviera Courier for the past 15 years and worked for the Federal Government for 20 years. He coached minor girls softball for 20 years in Moose Jaw. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Parkview Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Linda Owens will officiate.
