Elsie Indzeoski
January 7, 1923 - February 2, 2105

It is with great sadness but with thankfulness for a life well lived that the family announces the passing of our beautiful mother Elsie. Elsie is survived by her four daughters, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren: AUDREY Trulicz and family Tammy (Michael) Kanak and their children Caleb, Sarah and Rebecca, Shawna (Terry) Hersikorn and their children Quinn and Jacob, Lisa (Dave) Reams and their daughter Brooke, Kim Trulicz, and Amanda (Matt) Lapointe and their children Elsie and Hazel; ELORIE (Richard) Samoil and family Gailynn (Wayne) Cust and their daughter Aisceln, Noel Samoil and Michael Samoil and his children Aurora, Isabelle and Hunter; ROSE (Alex) Giannakos and their son Stavros Giannakos; and RONA (Ted) Tremblay and their daughter Nicole Tremblay and her children Toni and Jack Pollries; four brothers: Peter, Paul, Maurice (Elsie) and Joe (Carolyn) Sabadash; three sisters: Pauline Ezako, Phyllis Tataryn and Ollie Beque; in-laws: Pauline Komarniki, Roman (Ann) Indzeoski, Harry Indzeoski, and Sally Indzeoski. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Mike; parents, John and Anne Sabadash; sisters, Mary Sakowski-Meldowych and Anna Komora; in-laws, Mike Meldowych, Alex Ezako, Nick Tataryn, Norm Beque, Frank Komora, Helen Sabadash and Ellen Sabadash, Tony and Mary Indzeoski, Nick and Janet Indzeoski, Frank and Helen Indzeoski, John Indzeoski, Mary and Alex Gabruch, Jenny and Tony Smud, Fred and Verna Boyenko, and Bill Komarniki; and son-in-law, Joe Trulicz. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, SK. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in memory of Elsie to the All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church or the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.

Edna Voldeng
August 4, 1912 - January 26, 2015

The peaceful death of Mrs. Edna Irene Voldeng (nee Thom), 102 years of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson occurred on Monday, January 26, 2015. Edna was born in Bradwell, SK on August 4, 1912 to Daniel and Annie Laurie (nee Hughes) Thom. She grew up there and attended school. In her early teens, the family moved to the Spalding area. She worked for area families helping with domestic duties for a number of years. On November 30, 1938, Edna married Jens Voldeng. They farmed in the Spalding area, where they raised their family of three children. Although necessities of the time, Edna excelled at baking and gardening, loving the time spent doing these tasks. She had a green thumb that could make anything grow and thrive. Over the years, she was involved in the White Dove Society, the Dovre Lutheran Ladies and the New Horizons Seniors Club in Spalding. Above all, Edna’s family was the most important part of her life. She was thrilled as it grew to include grandchildren and great grandchildren and she cherished each new member of the family. Jens passed away in 1995 and Edna continued to live in their home until 1998 when she moved into a smaller senior duplex, living independently until past her 100th birthday. For the last couple of years, she has been a resident of the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, where she quickly endeared the staff to her. Edna will be lovingly remembered by her three children, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren: HARVEY Voldeng of Ashton, ON; LINDA (Oswald) Leicht of Spalding and family Troy (Bonnie) Leicht and children Julia and Levi of Naicam and Kim Leicht of Yorkton; and RON (Claire) Voldeng of Ladysmith, BC and family Jason (Lisa) Voldeng and children, Elle and Shea of Edmonton, AB and Renelle (Todd) Reid and children, Everett and Lachlan of Winnipeg, MB; three sisters: Verna Scherr of Ladysmith, BC, Della Ellingson of New Westminster, BC, and Hazel Ellingson of Flin Flon, MB; sister-in-law, Lily Thom of Surrey, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Annie Laurie Thom; husband, Jens Voldeng; daughter-in-law, Evelyne Voldeng; three brothers: Charlie (Fern) Thom, Donald (Marie) Thom, and Elmer Thom; sister, Alice (Richard) Voldeng; and brothers-in-law: Peter Scherr, Edward Ellingson and Clarence Ellingson. The Funeral Service for Edna was held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Spalding Heritage Church. Interment followed in the Dovre Lutheran Cemetery, Spalding. Memorial Donations in Edna’s memory may be made to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge-Heritage Garden Project.

Robert Dickson
June 22, 1926 - January 14, 2015

The peaceful death of Mr. Robert “Bob” Dickson, 88 years of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Bob was born on June 22, 1926 at Watson to Robert and Germaine (nee Knap) Dickson. He grew up on the farm in the Wimmer area. On October 17, 1949, Bob married Delia Laybourne of Lampard. They settled on the family farm, where they looked after the daily operations of the mixed farm and raised their three children. Bob’s favourite part of farming was raising his cattle. He was an active member of his community, serving on many local boards over the years. In February 1981, they moved to Wadena although they still spent plenty of time out at the farm, which their son Wayne had taken over. They enjoyed 30 years in Wadena before moving to Evergreen Country Home in LeRoy in 2011. A few months later, needing more care, Bob moved to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson where he lived until the present. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his two children, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Wayne (Connie) Dickson of Watson and family Jolene Figurski and children Presley and Karson of Martensville, Kalin Dickson (Matt Anderson) of Nipawin, and Landon Dickson of Watson; and Beverley Dickson (Rob) and family Darla Isaac (Mike) and children Keigan and Ethen, and Thomas Grossland, all of Saskatoon; one sister, Jean Gourley of Saskatoon; brother-and-sister-in-law, Raymond (Ruth) Laybourne of Humboldt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Germaine Dickson; wife, Delia Dickson; son, Robbie Dickson; and brother-in-law, Daryl Gourley. As per Bob’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Interment will take place in the spring in the Watson Public Cemetery.

Sherry Kalthoff
October 10, 1957 - January 15, 2015

Sharon “Sherry” was born to Adolf and Alice (nee Loeffler) Lang on October 10, 1957 in Humboldt, SK. She grew up and attended school in Middle Lake. On February 15, 1975, Sherry married the love of her life, Myles Kalthoff. Together the happy couple farmed in the Fulda area and raised three boys. Later in years when the boys were in school, Sherry went back to school where she took accounting and insurance courses. She pursued her profession in accounting and insurance with Hergott, Seidel & Associates for the last 18 years until recently retiring on April 30, 2014. Sherry loved the fun things in life such as having supper in the field with family and friends, camping, fishing, vacationing (enjoying hot holidays every winter), computer games and of course the Shopping Channel. Sherry’s true pride and joy were spending time with Myles, her boys and the grandkids. Family was the utmost importance to her. Sherry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 39 years, Myles Kalthoff of Humboldt; their three sons and four grandchildren: Brendan (Amy) Kalthoff and children Delaney and Kaybri of Humboldt; Kirby Kalthoff and son Dylan of Humboldt; and Kyle Kalthoff (fiancée Cori-Lynn Rutter) and son Kenneth of Humboldt; sisters: Jeannette (Donald) Hoffman of Middle Lake; and Arlene (Cliff) Wedewer of Cudworth; brother-in-law, Doug Wedewer of Cudworth; in-laws: Karen (Ralph) Fleischhacker of Humboldt; Wayne Kalthoff of Humboldt; and Neil (Maryann) Kalthoff of Demeter, AB; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Sherry was predeceased by her parents, Adolf and Alice Lang; daughter, Holly Kalthoff in infancy, December 6, 1985; sister, Brenda Wedewer; sister-in-law, Caroline Kalthoff; parents-in-law, Sylvester Kalthoff, Lydia Kloppenburg and Henry Kloppenburg. A Prayer Service for Sherry was held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. presided by Nestor Trach. A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. Both services took place at St. Augustine R.C. Church. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s R.C. Cemetery, Fulda, SK. Memorial donations in Sherry’s memory may be directed to either The Liver Foundation or Humboldt District Hospital General Equipment Fund.

Dorothy Doepker
April 5, 1925 - January 7, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Dorothy on January 7, 2015. Dorothy was born in Watson on April 5, 1925 to Josephine (Zupancic) and Leopold Knafelc. Dorothy was the youngest of eight children. She took her high school education at St. Ursuline Academy at Bruno. She then attended Normal School and received her teaching certificate. She taught at Attica and Iron Spring Schools. Dorothy met Edward Doepker and they married on July 19, 1948. Together they farmed near Watson for 57 years. They raised eight children who gave them many wonderful memories. Dorothy’s interest was pottery and card making. Her passion was Pro-Life, Carriage for Care Fundraiser, and Plant a Tree for Life. Throughout her life she was a deeply faithful woman. She was a choir member, lector, and President of the CWL. Another ministry was to visit the sick, visit the Lodge Residents, and she never hesitated to help someone in need of food or clothing. She will be lovingly remembered by her eight children, 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren: EVELYN (Frank) McEvoy of Airdrie, AB and family, Kevin (Sandra) McEvoy and children, Damon and Alena, Darrell McEvoy, and Cindy (Miles) Chisholm and children, Kya, Jaxon and Brystol; BRIAN (Kathy) Doepker of Saskatoon, SK and family, Trevor (Angee) Doepker and children, Antonio, Ricardo and Daniella, Maureen (Curtis) Pozniak and children, Marcus and Jonathon, and Michelle Doepker; KEN Doepker of Airdrie, AB and family, Kimberly (James) Doepker–Mitchell and children, Madison, Bricklyn, Indie and Lachlan; MARVIN (Audrey) Doepker of Saskatoon, SK and family, Chris (Janel) Doepker and children, Torin, Ellis and Kerr, Craig (Colleen) Doepker and children, Christopher and Finnian, and Bradley (Kayty) Doepker and daughter, Alexis; MURRAY (Fay) Doepker of Saskatoon, SK and family, Melissa (Jeremy) Hosegood, Deanna (Drew) Yung and Megan (Carlos) Torrico and daughter, Stella; BILL (Heather) Doepker of Calgary, AB and family, Teigan (Nick) Doepker-Thielen and children, Easton and Noah and Brittani Doepker; COLLEEN (Eugene) Muyres of St. Gregor, SK and family, Amanda (John) Enns and Sarah Muyres; and DONNA (Bruce) Becker of Naicam, SK and family, Amber Becker, Joshua Becker and Jordan Becker; sister, Agnes Gerspacher of Watson, three sisters-in-law, Louise Knafelc, Marge Doepker and Genevieve Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Edward; her parents, Leopold and Josephine Knafelc; two brothers, four sisters and two infant grandchildren. The Prayer Service for Dorothy was held on Sunday, January 11, at 7:30 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was held on Monday, January 12 at 10:30 a.m. Both services were held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Watson. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dorothy’s memory may be directed to Carlton Trail Pro Life or Sacred Heart Church, Watson.
