Ahlberg, Nancy,

AHLBERG - "Nan" Nancy (nee Junor), late of Regina, SK, passed away on December 20, 2003 with dignity and grace at the age of 74 years. Beloved wife of the late Russell Ahlberg, loving mother of Lyn Vilcu (Scott Sellsted) and proud grandmother of Adam and Angela Vilcu. She will also be lovingly remembered by her stepsons: Alan (Kathy) Ahlberg and their children; Cori (Scott) Richards, Jessica (Ramy) Nijmeh, Tom Ahlberg, and Jean Ahlberg, and one great grandchild, Shelby Richards, David (Sharon) Ahlberg and their children Stephanie Ahlberg and Kristofor Ahlberg. She is also survived by one stepsister Jean (Don) Cairns. Nancy was born July 7, 1929 in Regina, SK. In June 1965, she married Russell and moved to Wolf Point, MT where they owned and operated the Tip Top Motel. In 1977, the family returned to Canada and lived in Regina until moving to Pense in 1984. They ran a Fashion Two Twenty Studio for many years until she joined the work force at SaskOil. She made many lasting friendships wherever she went and enjoyed her retirement in Pense until 1997 when Russell passed away and she returned to Regina. She spent a couple of years in Midale, to be closer to her family but upon losing her eyesight, returned to Regina. She was a caring and adoring lady who loved all those around her. Her life centered around Adam and Angela whom she enjoyed spending as much time with as possible. She always had a smiling face and a kind word for those around her. A caring and sensitive woman who never lost her sense of humor even throughout her illness. Her great outlook and positive attitude kept her and her family and friends going throughout many trials and tribulations. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by those whose lives she touched. Memorial Service to be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. R. H. Sutton officiating. Reception to follow at Wascana Family & Community Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina S4T 1A5 and William Booth Special Care Home Palliative Unit, 50 Angus Road, Regina S4R 8P6. ANTOINE - On Thursday, December 25, 2003, Albert Joseph Antoine, late of Redvers, passed away at Redvers at the age of 80 years. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2003 from Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Redvers. The Funeral Maass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2003 from Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Redvers, with Rev. Fr. F. Hengen the celebrant. Interment to follow in the Redvers town cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Redvers and District Community Health Foundation Inc., in memory of Albert Antoine. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Redvers.

Brown, John,

BROWN - John, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on December 21, 2003 at the Moose Mountain Lodge in Carlyle. John is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Margaret Brown Sr., his infant brother Donald, brother Andrew Brown Jr., brothers-in-law Horace and David Bailey, Bruce Anderson, Mel Klatt and his sister-in-law Evelyn Anderson. John is survived by his wife Frances (nee Bailey), his son Bryon, his daughters, Linda and Helen (Dan) Finucane, his granddaughters Marylyn Brown (Bob Smith ) and Katie Finucane, his brothers David (Lilias) Brown, Walter (Mararet) Brown, his sister Jean (Doug) Hewitt, and other in laws, Violet Brown, Florence Bailey, Marj Klatt, Maxine Oskrip, Rennie and Louise Bailey, Merle and Jack Lorrette and numerous neices, nephews and special friends Pete and Vianne Levesque. John was born in Balfron, Scotland on December 31, 1919. He emigrated from Scotland with his family in April, 1925 and attended the Moose Creek School, near Carlyle. John joined the Canadian Army in 1939 and was part of the liberation of the Netherlands, arriving back in North America on New Years Eve, 1945. He spent his years after the war, farming. Fortynine years ago he married Frances Bailey and were true partners, never having a fight in their life. He was honoured by the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association in 1980 with a Lifetime Membership. John was an enthusiastic and committed cattle and oil man. He was most proud of his granddaughters, Marylyn and Katie. Visitation is December 28, at 7:00pm at the Orsted Funeral Home, Carlyle. Funeral service is December 29, 2003, at 1:00 pm at the Carlyle United Church with Sandy Dalziel officiating. Interment is at the Moose Creek Cemetery with lunch to follow at the Carlyle Memorial Hall. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Redvers Health Center, Arcola Hospital and Moose Mountain Lodge. The family is also grateful for all the help provided by the Special Care aides. Your care has been special. Flowers gratefully declined. BURT, KENNETH - On December 23, 2003, Ken Burt of Edmonton, AB., formerly of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 69 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Margaret; daughter Pat (Martin); son Bryan (Denise), three grandchildren Matthew, Allison and Michaela Mercer Deadman and also Denise's son Christopher Roper. Although Ken was an only child he considered Marg's sisters and brother as his own, Alice (Dick), Phyllis (Roy), Bill (Florence), and Kathy and numerous nieces and nephews. CASE - Trent Gerald, beloved husband, respected father and treasured friend, peacefully passed on Saturday, December 20, 2003. Trent is fondly remembered by his loving wife of 35 years, Shannon; the joy of his life, his children, Trevor, Tyler and Stephanie; his trusted brother, Blair (Shelley), of Regina, SK; nieces, Erin and Jennifer, of Regina, SK and his respected father, Ralph (Vel), of Medicine Hat, AB. Trent was predeceased by his mother, Eva, in 1989 and his sister, Margo, on November 14, 2003. Trent was born November 19, 1945 in Vancouver, B.C. He spent his growing years in Swift Current, SK where he fostered cherished friendships and developed a profound love of farming. After attending the University of Saskatchewan, Trent's passion for farming took him and his family to Sceptre, SK where his kind, comical personality was well respected throughout the community. When Trent was not traveling the globe in pursuit of unfound adventures he could often be found at the dinner table where his love of fine food and wine belied his fit physique. Trent's passionate personality transcended all aspects of his life. He lived life to the fullest and cherished his family and friends above all else. He was revered for his inspiring advice, noble generosity, and impeccable integrity. His memory will forever remain with the multitudes of people he has profoundly influenced. A memorial service to celebrate Trent's life will be held at the Sceptre Community Hall on Monday December 29, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Casey Sitter officiating. DARBY - David Albert passed away at the Regina General Hospital on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by his parents Rev. Gilbert Clarence Darby and Jane Darby; his two brothers, Alan Darby (1943, Killed In Action, WWII, RCAF) and John (Jack) Francis Darby (1996, Ottawa). David is survived by his sister, Grace Margaret Bachynski and her husband Dr. Borden Bachynski and their children Alan (Del), Colin (Carol), David (Merle) of Regina and Jane Bachynski of Ottawa; his sister-in-law Marjorie Darby and her children Leslie Morse (David) and Heather Darby of Ottawa; several great-nieces and nephews: Margot, Shawn, Darby-Jane, Nicolas, Quinlan, Spencer, Avery, Chad, Steven, Nicole, Brandon, Simon, Racheal, Jessica and Emily. David was born on May 6, 1919 in London, England. He immigrated to Assiniboia, Saskatchewan in 1919 with his parents. He served with P.P.C.L.I. Overseas in WW II, 1939 to 1944. He retired in 1989 from Customs and Immigration Canada. David settled in Regina in 1990 with his sister and brother-in-law. For the past 1 years he was a resident of 3-5 DVA Wing of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Wascana Rehab. Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 26, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Chaplain D. Allan Higgs officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. ENGEL—Mrs. Marion Bridgen Engel, beloved wife of Mr. Ted Engel of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, December 17th, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Marion also leaves to cherish her memory four children, Allen (Brenda) Brigden of Kisbey, Lois (Neil) Beatty of Calgary, Lynda (Eldon) Haug of Edmonton, and Ross (Joan) Brigden of Medicine Hat; nine grandchildren, Todd, Drew, Devon, and Preston Brigden, Jonathan (Tamara) and Jeffrey Beatty, Brett and Allyson Haug, and Graham Brigden; one brother, Dr. Allen (Adelaide) Davis of Medicine Hat; one brother-in-law, Frank Brigden of Kenosee, Saskatchewan; one sister-in-law, Paula Brigden of Edmonton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her first husband, Bill Brigden in 1967; one grandson, Ryan Brigden; and her parents, Norman and Margaret Davis. She also leaves to cherish her memory, Ted's family, Wayne (Jeri) Engel of Woodrow, Ron (Linda) Engel of Windermere, British Columbia, and Velma (Ira) Heebner of Dunmore, Alberta; eight step-grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren. Marion was born, raised and educated at Silton, and attended Normal School in Regina. She taught at various schools throughout Southeastern Saskatchewan. On October 19th, 1942 Marion married Bill Brigden and they made their home on the Brigden family farm at Kisbey. After Bill's passing in 1967, Marion returned to teaching and retired in the late 1970's. She enjoyed time at her cottage at White Bear Resort, Saskatchewan. Marion was a member of the Eastern Star and was very active in Rebekah's Lodge. She settled in Medicine Hat in the early 1990's and married Ted Engel on September 17th, 1994. They continued to live in Medicine Hat and enjoyed their trips to Victoria as well as the company of family and friends. The Funeral service will be held in KISBEY RECREATION CENTRE, Kisbey, Saskatchewan on Monday, December 22nd, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Marlene Haygarth, officiating. Interment will take place in the Family Plot at Arcola Cemetery, Arcola, Saskatchewan. As an expression of sympathy those wishing to remember Mrs. Marion Brigden Engel may do so with a gift to the Oddfellows and Rebekah's Visual Eye Research, Box 160, Kisbey, Saskatchewan, S0C 1L0.
