DAVID ALLAN GIESBRECHT
August 29 1963 – April 16, 2011
David passed away peacefully at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice in Kamloops, BC. A devoted father and uncle, he will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marilyn, and their three beautiful daughters, Kaitlyn, Alana, and Shannon. Dave is also survived by his parents, Lawrence and Minnie Giesbrecht of Kamloops, his sister Lori (Peter) Bradstock, also of Kamloops, and his brother Geoff (Marie) Giesbrecht of Clearwater.
He will be missed by Marilyn’s parents, Rie and Ben Obdeyn, her brothers, Rodney (Kelly) Obdeyn and Jeff (Kim) Obdeyn, her sister, Cindy Obdeyn, as well as Dave’s nephews Adam, Erik, Jack, Nicholas, and Alexander and his nieces, Emily, Laura, Ceara, and Alyssa. Dave was predeceased by brother-in-law Bernie Obdeyn in 1991.
Dave was born in Neepawa, Manitoba but lived most of his life in Clearwater, BC. Many friends there have great memories of playing sports, or hunting and fishing with Dave.
In 1992, Dave married Marilyn Obdeyn and they moved to Kamloops where their children were born. Dave loved being a part of the many activities his girls were involved in, and, whatever they were doing; swimming, soccer, basketball or track and field, Dave was there cheering them on.
The highlights of his outdoor life were the hunting and fishing trips he enjoyed with his dad and brother, but he also shared his love and knowledge of travel, hiking, and gold panning with his children, nieces, nephews and their friends.
Friendship was one of the great pleasures of Dave’s life, and the family would like to thank the many wonderful people who shared their time and pastimes with them and with Dave. It was especially evident how much he was loved by the number of visitors who dropped by to visit while he was in hospital and hospice during the last two and a half months, and the many care packages and meals that would magically turn up at home.
A public viewing will take place at the Kamloops Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 2 to 5 pm. On that same day, prayers will be recited in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on at 7pm. The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in the church on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11 am. Interment to follow, Hillside Cemetery.
Special thanks to the staff of the hospice for making Dave’s life and the lives of his family so much easier during the weeks he was there. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dave’s memory to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, South, Kamloops, BC, V2E 2S9.

July 5, 1922 - April 17, 2011
Helen Clara Richlack of Kamloops passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 88 years of age. She is survived by her loving grandson Kevin (Jacquie) Richlack, great grandchildren Lindsay and Jonathon, sisters Dot Dennery, Ruth (Ray) Denton and Lila Peters and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband Joe Weibe, sons Keneth and Keith Padley, her parents Alric and Mary, brothers Wilf, Roy, Lloyd and Neil Hebert, sisters Irene Ralstin, Meral Hermanson and Margaret LaFave.
A Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gordon Heselton officiating.

Louise Berglund of Kamloops, BC passed away on April 17, 2011. at 68 years of age.
She is survived by her six loving grandchildren and her three brothers.
Louise was predeceased by her husband Ledn Berglund and here mom& dad.

Rachel Andrea Nash
August 16, 1969 - April 24, 2011
Dr. Rachel Andrea Nash passed away in her home in the early morning hours of April 24th (Easter Sunday). Rachel passed quietly, peacefully, and without pain—all that we could have hoped. Rachel leaves behind a strong and truly remarkable network of family and friends, too numerous to mention individually, though let it be stated that she loved them all very dearly. Rachel is survived by her beautiful son, Dashiell “Dash” Reid, and loving husband and partner, Cameron Reid. Also, her ferociously dedicated mother, Sharon Nash; father, William Goodu; devoted sister, Willow Yamauchi, and Willow’s family, Ron, Flynn, and Sophie. Blessed with an enormous family, and extended family, that included many aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents, cousins, and in-laws—a special call-out to brother-cousin John Goddu, grandma Fay Goddu, and the Reid family of Toronto, Jeanne, Don, Scott, and Derek, who loved Rachel like one of their own, from the very beginning—Rachel’s reach in life was far and wide, extending to her many treasured friends, among them, Angela, Heather, Karen, Carolyn, Lu, Kay, Jenifer, Inga, Leah, Ashok, and her brother-in-arms Martin Whittles—all of whom walked by her side through good and bad times. She is predeceased by Kenneth Law, her beloved adopted father.
Rachel was born in New Westminster, BC, in August 1969. A child of hippies, Rachel grew up in the West Coast counter-culture scene, moving from Vancouver to Powell River, and places still further removed and remote along the BC coast—‘off-grid,’ as they say. Her life took her from float-houses to nudist clubs, from fire walks to encounter groups. Still, of course, she endured; she prospered. A graduate of Simon Fraser University and the University of Waterloo (MA, PhD), Rachel was involved in student journalism and politics in her undergraduate days, but eventually found a home in academic life, becoming a well-respected colleague and scholar, with a particular penchant for collaborative practices in a profession that tends to promote the individual above the whole.
Rachel was a bright light, a spark. A bookish eldest daughter and grandchild, Rachel matured into a magnificent mother, a leader, a superlative educator, and truly extraordinary human being. She was known for her humor, her big laugh; also, her keen insight and buoyant spirit. But Rachel’s special gift was an ability to meet people on their own terms, in ways unique to that person. The honest and heartfelt connections she could generate, seemingly at will, with most everyone she came in contact with, would, at the end of the day, become a truly defining feature of her life. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and who relied so greatly on her friendship and often timely counsel; her passing is felt deeply by many. Put simply, the loss is immense.
Rachel’s memorial service will be held in the Grand Hall, Campus Activity Centre, at Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rachel’s memory to the Callanish Society www.callanish.org, a non-profit organization providing healing retreats and support programs for people living with cancer—an organization which had become very important to Rachel late in her life—or the Rachel Nash Memorial Bursary www.tru.ca/foundation/giving.html for women studying in the areas of language, composition, or communication.

KELSEY CRANSTON WALL
February 4, 1974 - April 9, 2011
Kelsey Cranston Wall of Toronto, Ontario passed away on April 8th, 2011 at the age of 37 years.
He is survived by his loving father, Wayne Wall, dear brother Duane Eldon Wall of Toronto, Ontario. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his grandmother, Martha Wall of Herbert, Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Ann Wall in 2002.
Kelsey was born and raised in Kamloops, BC. After graduating from Brock Secondary, he completed a Degree in Psychology at the University College of the Cariboo and the University of Victoria. Childhood development and Education were his main areas of interest.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, BC.

Ernest William Marnoch
February 10, 1922 - April 22, 2011
Ernie was participating in one of his favourite activities when he suddenly left this world of consciousness, and, on Good Friday, he crossed the bar while in Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, BC, and is now dancing with the angels.
Ernie will be greatly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan Gaye and Ron Bell; his grandsons and their wives: Michael and Cheryl Bell and Alexander and Shauna Bell; his great-grandchildren: Richard and Kiira Dupuis and Pyper Amandalee Bell; his great-great-grandson, Derrick Febril; his “favourite niece,” Myrna (Russ) Wright; and many dancing partners and bowling friends. He was predeceased by Myra, his wife of 57 years, in 2005.
Dad was born in York Township, Toronto, Ontario, to Scottish immigrants, and was still connected to relatives in Scotland whom he visited during his time in Europe with the Canadian Forces in WWII. He was an avid Boy Scout, and one of his fondest memories was of cychng from Toronto to New York with a group of his Scouting friends to see the 1939 World’s Fair.
Dad served in the Signal Corps during the latter years of WWH and participated in the liberation of Walcheren Island, which gave the allies crucial access to the port of Antwerp in the Netherlands; he was also Mentioned in Dispatches for action under fire and was presented with a citation of gratitude from the City of Toronto.
Ernie and Myra were married in 1948 in Vancouver, where Dad went to work for the CPR Telecommunications division as an equipment mechanic, installing and maintaining Telex machines throughout southern British Columbia. The family transferred to Kamloops in 1957. Dad and Mom were active in the United Church as youth group and renowned camp leaders, and, as Akela and Bagheera, they fondly remembered and are remembered by half a generation of Cubs, especially their doctor of many years. They earned their Gilwell woggles and also served as District Cubmasters.
Dad and Mom were involved in the Toastmaster and Toastmistress Clubs from their inception, holding positions on the executives and winning club, regional, and provincial speech competitions. They encouraged their family to join them in becoming lawn bowlers, which led to several medals and cup prizes, beginning in the early 1970s and continuing to the present day with Dad being very proud of Alex and Ron as they won silver and gold medals in provincial competition, and as Ron placed fourth in nationals. Dad was looking forward to another summer of lawn bowling this year.
Dad and Mom played Century Sam and Centennial Sue during the celebrations for British Columbia’s 100th Birthday in 1971, and many an audience was entertained by their comedy skits in the Kamicecades. Dad continued to figure skate up to Just a few years ago. Another of Dad’s favourite activities was carpet bowling twice a week at the Northshore Seniors Centre in Cottonwood Manor. But it was dancing that Dad most looked forward to every week, often attending four or five dances a week, and aside from his family, is where he will be missed the most.
We extend our thanks to Dr. Alan Bums for his years of caring for Dad’s health, Dr. Mosewich for his sage advice and emergency care, and Nurses Elena, Raylene, Christy, Brandy, et al. for their genuine interaction with and unhurried TLC for Dad. A get- together in Dad’s memory will be announced at a later date. Donations in Ernie’s name may be made to Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.

Franciso (Frank) Tarlit
October 10, 1910 - June 9, 2011
Frank Tarlit of Kamloops passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday June, 9, 2011 at 100 years of age.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Rosalina, sons, Dave (Lily) of Oyama B.C, Moises (Leila), and Ben of Kamloops, B.C many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great and great grandkids.
Frank was born in the Philippines on October 10th, 1910. He migrated here in Canada in 1975. He was a Barber for many years, he loved fishing and was a member of the Filipino- Canadian Association.
Prayers and Viewing will take place on Sunday June 12, 2011 7-9pm in the Kamloops Funeral Home, Rosewood Room .

Bernice Nykyforchyn
October 29, 1932 - June 9, 2011
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice Nykyforchyn in Kamloops, B.C. at the age of 78 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Margaret Kramer and her brother and sister-in-law Lynn and Delphine Kramer. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law John Poncelet.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 45 years, John Nykyforchyn, along with her sons Peter and Bryan; her sister Evelyn Poncelet of Meacham, SK; brother Ken (Kathrine) Kramer of Bruno, SK. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention.
Bernice was born in Bruno, SK and lived her early life there. She moved to Saskatoon and worked for eight years in the Central Sterilization Department at City Hospital. Shortly after marrying in 1966, she moved to Vancouver, B.C., eventually settling in Kamloops in 1973 to raise her family. She was an active volunteer in the parish, especially with the CWL and will be dearly missed by all.
Prayers will be recited at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Sunday, June 12th, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OLPH Church on Monday, June 13th, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Howie and all the medical staff on 7 North at Royal Inland Hospital for their excellent care.
Interment will take place in Bruno, SK at a later date.
