EDIGER, MENNO - Monday, 02 Dec 2002
Menno Jacob, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 2, 2002. Menno was born on October 5, 1928 in Inman, Kansas and moved to Mission with his wife Margaretha in the summer of 1990.
Menno was an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church and served churches in Turpin Oklahoma, Sudbury Ontario, Markham Illinois, and Boise Idaho. Menno and Margaretha spent many years working as volunteer with Mennonite Central Committee, establishing the Welcome Inn drop-in centre in Hamilton, laying the ground-work for a new church there, and working with Old Colony Mennonites in Bolivia.
After moving to Mission, Menno was actively involved in the M2W2 prison ministry, Habitat for Humanity and Mennonite Disaster Service. He was involved with Meals on Wheels, Seniors Connection, and the Hidden Treasures Thrift store. A faithful and loved member of St. Stephens Community Church, he inspired and promoted outreach programs there that serve the local and global community.
Menno enjoyed curling, singing, fishing, and making furniture out of "found" materials. He believed in simple living and the wise use and reuse of resources. Menno lived a life committed to peace and justice. He touched the lives of many people in North and South America who benefited from his dedication to service in the name of God's love.
Menno is the beloved husband of Margaretha, and father of Stephanie, Elizabeth, Mike, Mary and Evelyn, father-in-law of Diane Ediger, Lloyd Hilderbrand and Robert Ross, and grandfather of Katie, John, Jeff, Alyse, Mikaela and Eli. He is survived by his sisters Katherina Epp, Marie Regehr, Anne Martin and Elma Kauffman and his brother Peter Ediger.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephens Community Church. For information call Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home at 604-826-9548. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, the Mission Hospice Society or the MANNA Project, an initiative to provide meals to local people in need. Donations to MANNA may be directed to St. Stephens Community Church.

PETERSON, CHRISTINE - Monday, 02 Dec 2002
Christine Peterson passed away on December 2, 2002 at the age of 64 years.
She was born December 25, 1937 in Southampton, England and came to Canada in 1962.
She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd, daughters Ann (Scott) Banmen, Denise (John) Green and son Gregory Peterson. Will also be missed by 4 grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 1:00 p. m. at Henderson's Funeral Chapel at 34537 Marshall Road (at Sumas Way).
Donations may be made to a nature charity of choice or Nature Conservacy.

OLLINGER, LORNE - Sunday, 01 Dec 2002
Lorne Allen Ollinger, late of Sugar Lake Road, Cherryville, passed away December 1, 2002 at the age of 54 years in the MSA Hospital surrounded by his family. Lorne is survived by his mother Jean and sisters Linda, Louise and Yvonne.
A private family service was held at Woodlawn Funeral Home. His kind and gentle nature will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at MSA Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during his final days.

MC CARTHY, RUTH - Sunday, 01 Dec 2002
Ruth Mary (nee Halden) left us peacefully after a lengthy illness to join her Savior on December 1, 2002. Ruth was born in Winnipeg, Man. in 1918, the eldest of three children. She moved with her family to Vancouver in 1930. A committed Christian and accomplished pianist. Ruth married Harold McCarthy in 1941.
During the war, with Harold overseas, Ruth worked as a war bond administrator for Vancouver shipyards. After the war, the McCarthy's raised a family in North and West Vancouver.
Predeceased by her parents, Bill and Christine; her brother Ken, and infant daughter Brenda. Ruth is survived by husband Harold, her sister Elaine, sons Kenneth (Marcia), Paul, Barry, Rebecca), Myron (Marcella), daughter Maria, and four grandchildren.
Ruth led a long, full life dedicated to her family. She will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.
Special thanks for the care given Ruth by the wonderful staff at the Worthington Pavilion in Abbosford. Private internment. Memorial Service to be held on Thursday, December 5th at 2:00 p. m., at the Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly, 3145 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christian Charity of your choice.

OGISON, JOAN - Sunday, 01 Dec 2002
Joan Ogison passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at MSA Hospital. Joan Elisabeth was born in 1926 in Kent, England. On coming to Canada in 1963, Joan and family resided in Alberta, The Yukon, and following the death of her beloved husband, Victor, in 1974, for the past 27 years in British Columbia.
Survived by son Phillip (Catherine) and family in Ontario.
A small service to be held at the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5, 2002 at 12:00 noon. No flowers by request. Donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

SAWATZKY, CHARLOTTE - Saturday, 30 Nov 2002
Charlotte Susan Sawatzky (Peters) went to rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus on November 30, 2002 at the age of 39 years, after courageously enduring a long lasting illness.
Born on November 28, 1963 in Vancouver, B.C. Charlotte is survived by David, her loving and faithful husband, dearest daughter Melissia who made her life worth living. Will also be deeply missed by her sisters Grace (Daniel) Dobson, Gloria (Donald) Spratt, Martha Peters, Gertie (Peter) Rackstraw, and her brothers Lawrence (Sharie), Karl (Dorcas), Samuel (Cheryl), Stuart and John (Diane); and dear brothers-in-law Paul and Brayden Sawatzky and sisters-in-law Hedy Sawatzky and Darlene (Alan) Ens; father and mother-in-law John & Elvira Sawatzky.
Charlotte was a wonderful Auntie to many nieces and nephews and their children, all of whom she loved and who loved her deeply.
She will also be loved and remembered by all her friends, who meant so much to her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2002 at 11:00 a. m. at Sevenoaks Alliance Church at 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, B.C.
Donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation in memory of Charlotte.

HOOGLAND, DIRK - Saturday, 30 Nov 2002
Dirk Hoogland, late of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away November 30, 2002 at age 79 at Bevan Lodge.
Born in Holland August 28, 1923, he came to Canada in 1957.
Survived by wife Annie of 51 years; children John Hoogland (Pat); Trudi Folster (Trevor); grandsons, Tim and Terry Folster; grand daughters Michelle and Amanda Hoogland.
No service by request.

MAC LENNAN, DONALD - Thursday, 28 Nov 2002
Donald Francis MacLennan, late of Abbotsford, B.C., passed away suddenly November 28, 2002 at the age of 55 years. Don is survived by his family; brothers and sisters, Carolyn McLennan, Kathie Wiebe, Gerald McLennan, Ray McLennan (Shelly), niece Sherryn McLennan, nephews Cody and Dahles. Also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Graveside service and interment of cremated remains will be held at 1:30 p. m. Friday, December 6, 2002 at Hazelwood Cemetery, 34070 Hazelwood Avenue, Abbotsford.

BILINSKI, DANNY - Thursday, 28 Nov 2002
Danny Francis Bilinski peacefully went to his Lord on November 28, 2002 at the age of 47.
Survived by his beloved wife of nearly 28 years, and best friend Hiberta (nee Costa). Also survived by his son Jason, daughter Catrina and son-in-law Martin. Danny left two grandaughters Taylor-Marie and Madison, the joys of his life.
Danny is also survived by 1 brother Frank (Ursula), nephews Jesse & Jordy, 1 sister Lori (Eric), nephews Darren (Kerry), Warren (Denise), his father Frank & step-mom Linda, & mother Margaret (Ed) Pritchard.
Danny had many other in-laws, nephews and 1 niece. They will greatly miss their son-in-law, brother-in-law and Uncle Danny. He will always be remembered and cherished in all of our hearts for the loving and honorable man that he was.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Marazzi for his great care and compassion he showed as Danny's physician. As well as Mission Memorial Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital nursing staff for their support during a difficult time.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2002, at 1:00 p. m. at Mission Foursquare Church, 33837 Prentis Ave., Mission. Officiated by Pastors Gord & Myrna Lovell.

EVANS, KATHERINE - Tuesday, 16 Dec 2003
Katherine Elsie Evans (Ericson) born at the old Mission Hospital (5th Ave.) December 5, 1912, with her twin brother Harry Ernest who passed away in 1947, to Ivor & Anna Ericson, pioneers of Silverhill.
Katie died in her sleep December 16, 2003 at Arrowsmith Lodge, Parksville, B.C.
A remembrance tea will be held at the Silverdale Hall at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Silverdale Hall, c/o Holger Wickstrom, 604-826-1637. Thank you family and friends.

BAZIUK, FREDERICK - Saturday, 15 Feb 2003
Frederick John Baziuk, passed away on February 15, 2003 at age 69 at MSA Hospital. He is survived by 3 sons, Robert, Richard (Sheila), David (Angela); 3 brothers, Mike, Danny, Bill; sister Eleanor and 4 grandchildren, Chantrea, Frederick, Andrew and Natasha; many more family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p. m., Saturday, February 22, 2003 at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Avenue, Abbotsford with a reception to follow.
Special thanks to the nursing staff on 3 West at MSA Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Fred, and also thanks to Drs. Ross, Maung and Williams. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Cancer Society.
We love you Fred and we will all miss you very much.

BORSETH, KENNETH - Friday, 14 Feb 2003
Kenneth John, born February 1, 1948, passed away at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford, February 14, 2003 at the age of 55. Ken will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

WIENS, LOUISE - Thursday, 13 Feb 2003
Louise Wiens late of Sherwood Home, Abbotsford, B.C., formerly of Arnold, B.C. passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at age 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Peter A. Wiens; her first son Henry; 2 son-in-laws Roy Malmstrom and Al Fadeeff.
She is survived by 6 children; Ruth (Bill) Cahais, Esther Fadeeff, George (Mary) Wiens, Minna Malmstrom, Mary Louise (Frank) Dyck and Bernie (Rosa) Wiens; 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 from 7 - 9 p. m. from the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road. A private family Graveside Service will be held followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M. C. C.

GLEIG, ALEXANDER - Tuesday, 11 Feb 2003
Alexander Lorne Gleig, Abbotsford, went to be with the Lord at home, in his 54th year on Thursday, February 6, 2003, following a valiant battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his father Bruce Gleig, he is survived by his loving wife Elaine, step-daughters, Tamara Logan and fiance Keith Lee, and Nicole (Eric) Janzen, granddaughter Katherine Janzen, mother Viola Boyd, step-father Denis Boyd, mother-in-law Mary Norman, sister Carol Banman, nephews Bruce (Sharon) Banman and Scott (Ann) Banman, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lorne was involved for many years with the International Order of Demolay, was an avid hockey fan and in his youth played guitar in a small band. His most recent hobby of photography gave him the opportunity to study the mountains he loved so much. In his chosen career as a computer programmer, technologist and salesman, he would work tirelessly to assist his customers. A kind and gentle man, willing to help others in any way he could. Lorne will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 11:00 a. m. from the Chapel of Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 23437 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

GRYMALOSKI, STANLEY - Tuesday, 11 Feb 2003
Stanley Stephen Grymaloski died peacefully at MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. on February 11, 2003 at the age of 89. He was born in Copeland, Saskatchewan May 8, 1913.
Stanley was predeceased by his wife, Bernice, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, a son and granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Adeline, 2 daughters, Esther and Sylvia, 1 son Daniel (Kathy), nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister Verna, 3 brothers, John, Julian and Walter and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Central Heights MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C. on Monday, February 17, at 11:00 a. m. Donations may be made to the Gideons.

WILSON, CHARLES - Sunday, 09 Feb 2003
Charles William Wilson passed away on February 9, 2003 at the MSA Hospital at the age of 85 years. He is survived by Bernice, his wife of 59 years; sons Barry of Abbotsford, Terry and his wife Helen of Westbank; granddaughter Donna Wilson and her husband Cameron Chalmers; grandson Bradley Wilson.
Cremation. No formal service will be held. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
