Romantic and loving husband to Kim. Adoring and doting father to Kacia, Candice and Melisa. Golden son to Bill and Mary. Admiring brother to Barb, Al and Dianne. Extraordinary uncle to Quinn, Daniel, Crystal and Kayla. Affectionate friend to many. There is no sadness as there is peace. EAGER, John Barker (Jack) Monday, 28 Aug 2006
Aug. 15, 1917 - Aug. 28, 2006
Jack passed away peacefully at Millsite Lodge in 100 Mile House, B. C., on Aug. 28, 2006. He was predeceased in 1956 by his wife Jeanne Marjorie, - “ the true love of his life”. Survived by his sister Eleanor Hughes of Williams Lake, his son Roland of Nanaimo, his grandchildren Becci (Campbell River) and Greg (Victoria), nephews Bob and Gerry Hughes, Michael and Bob Mushet, and niece Barb Ecclestone. Jack was born in Vancouver and raised in West Vancouver. He enjoyed a long and productive career as an architectural draftsman in Vancouver. He served as a radio communications instructor in the air-force during W.W. II. Special thanks to Dr. Street, and to the nursing staff at Millsite Lodge and Fischer Place in 100 Mile House for their excellent care, and for creating many pleasant experiences for him to enjoy. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Jack’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

BUTTERWORTH (Hassen), Eileen M.E. Tuesday, 29 Aug 2006
We announce with joy and sorrow the passing of Eileen M.E .Butterworth (Hassen) on August 29, 2006 at the l00 Mile Hospital. Her failing health in recent years saw her move from their home on Horse Lake Road to the Carefree Manor in 2002. We rejoice that her suffering has passed and she is now home with the Lord. Eileen was born in the Armstrong, B.C. area on November l3, l9l6 to Florence and Matthew Hassen. She was predeceased by Cecil, her husband of 53 years in l995, oldest brother Romley and younger sister Daphne. She leaves behind brother Matt Hassen of Armstrong, daughter Marie (Bren) Dwyer, granddaughters Deanna (Lee) Tomkulak and Allison Dwyer, great-grandchildren Eric and Shaylene Tomkulak. We thank the wonderful, caring staff of Carefree Manor, who lovingly cared for Eileen during her last years and the doctors and nurses who did their best to ease the last days of her suffering. We shall miss her love, but know we will meet again. Services were held at the l00 Mile Funeral Home Chapel and we thank them for their friendly care.

CHARLTON, Gordon Tuesday, 05 Sep 2006
July 23, 1911 – Sept. 5, 2006
Gordon passed away peacefully at Fischer Place in 100 Mile House, B.C. He was predeceased by his loving wife Vera in 1997, and brothers Cecil, Leslie, and Kenneth. Survived by sister Esmee Estlin; son Don; daughter Linda (Al) Bishop; grandchildren Lori (Dave) Stusrud, Dan Bishop, Randy (Laurie) Bishop, Chris Charlton (Lorna Ross), Craig Charlton (Monica Weber); great grandchildren Andy & Kayla Stusrud, Kaleb, Kylie & Keifer Sandford, Regan, Wyatt & Hayley Bishop, Alex, Ross, Keenan, and Kayla Charlton; cousin Les Price; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gordon was born in Vancouver, B.C. and became a mill worker, then was employed as a vulcanizer during the Depression. Later he became a carpenter and started his own successful construction
business. Upon retiring in 1966 he and Vera moved to Bridge Lake, B.C. and built a new home. Gordon was a very active community member being involved in the 1967 Centennial project and Roe Lake Recreation Commission. He was also a member of the North Burnaby Kiwanis Club and a Charter Member of the Highway 24 Interlakes Lions Club. Gordon was known as a very generous person, he enjoyed playing poker and crib with friends, and trips to Reno. He shall be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service for Gordon will be held on Sat., Sept. 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Interlakes Hall (7592 Highway 24). VAUGHAN, Norma Daphne Carol Wednesday, 16 Aug 2006
In loving memory of Norma, who passed away Aug. 16, 2006 at the age of 73. Born in Williams Lake, B.C. on March 14, 1933. Grew up in Coquitlam, B.C. and later moved to Bridge Lake, B.C and to Barriere, B.C. eight years ago. She will be missed by family: loving husband Terry, brother Russell (Peggy) Ross; blended sons Terry (Adrian), Tommy (Edith), Tim (Dee); many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends. Norma worked for many years as a legal assistant in Vancouver, B.C., moving to Bridge Lake with her husband Terry and mother Viola Ross. In 1998 Norma and Terry made their home in Barriere. Norma enjoyed reading, gardening and loved animals. Her dogs were adored by her. Many will remember her exhibits at the Bridge Lake Fall Fair where she proudly took home ribbons. She was predeceased by her father Norman Ross in 1967 and mother Viola Ross in 1987. There will be no service by her request. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma’s memory may be made to the SPCA. Norma was a very special person who touched many hearts and will be sadly missed by all. Loved and remembered by your family and friends.

DAHL nee Wakeman, Beryl Margaret Monday, 14 Aug 2006

Beryl was born in Birmingham, England on November 27, 1921 and died at Millsite Lodge in 100 Mile House, B.C. on August 14, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband Jennings, sons John and Ken, and grandson Zachary. She is survived by her son Barry (Dyanne), daughter Linda, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Beryl came to Canada in 1945 as a war bride after working as a registered nurse during the war years. Beryl and Jennings lived in many locations in Canada but settled in Forest Grove in 1978. She pursued her career as a registered nurse for many years but in the Cariboo she enjoyed a successful career in real estate. Active, vibrant, caring and loving to the last, Beryl will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. For her family, her passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled. Mom, Nana - forever in our hearts.

DIMMER nee Hendrickson, Mildred (Dee) Ethel Saturday, 12 Aug 2006
Mildred died of cancer on August 12, 2006 at the age of 70, in Port Moody. Born in New Westminster, B.C., Dee, as she was known to her family and friends, was a “logging camp brat,” spending her early years along the B.C. coast. She married Royston Herbert Dimmer and did the office work for their paint contracting business before becoming a dedicated nurse. After her husband retired, the couple moved to the Cariboo area where she worked in the 100 Mile House Hospital. Later she moved back to the Lower Mainland where she worked in the Eagle Ridge Hospital. Many will remember Dee, not only as a conscientious and caring person, but as an enthusiastic games player. She particularly enjoyed the cut-and-thrust of competitive bridge, teaming up with her good friend Tessa Waters. She is survived by her beloved husband Roy, daughter Kim and partner Paul, three grandchildren Josh, Karla and Sarah, her brother Bob and his wife Alenka, niece Telka (Roderik and children Matana and Jorin) and nephew Matthew. She is pre-deceased by her younger daughter Eve. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in the First Memorial Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam. Donations gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer’s Society, Cross Roads Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
