DUSTIN REIMER

Suddenly, due to a tragic motorcycle accident, Dustin Shane Reimer was taken from us on May 11, 2012. Dustin was born in Ste. Anne on February 23, 1982.

Dustin is survived by his son Titan; his sisters Lisa, Cassidy and Mackenzie; his mother Marilyn Kozak (Michael); his father Gordon Reimer; his grandmother Nellie Wohlgemuth; Titan’s mother Priscilla Walsh (Sean), Phoenix and Gabby; and his niece Isabella.

Dustin was predeceased by his grandfather Ben Wohlgemuth, grandparents Dave and Elizabeth Reimer, and brother Chris Buhay.

Funeral services will be held in Landmark at the Prairie Rose Evangelical Mennonite Church on Wednesday May 16th at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Titan’s trust fund.

EFFIE HENZEL

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Effie Henzel, on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, at the age of 87 years.

Left to cherish mom’s memory are her children: Joan Patrick, Larry (Marcia) Henzel, Marlene (Ed) Friesen, Judy (Ken) Holme, Edie (Allan) Butland, and Bev (Cliff) Schmidtke; 13 grandchildren: Derrick (Kathy) Patrick, Wendy Melnyk, Jennifer (Tom) Bessinger, Temara (Troy) Pidsadny, Robin (Norm) Paisley, Michelle (Russ) Plett, Felicia (Ernie) Christ, Kyle (Lynzie) Friesen, Kara (Gil) Friesen, Bailey Butland, Dale Butland, Lee (Rachel) Schmidtke, and Tiffany (Keith) Broesky; as well as 25 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mom also leaves behind two sisters Kay Trachuk and Ollie Trachuk, and many nieces and nephews.

Prayers will be held on Thursday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with interment at the St. Peter & St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery in Pansy, MB. Everyone is invited to attend a dinner in Mom’s honour at the Pansy Hall immediately following the interment.

TINA PRIES

We as family in great sadness announce the passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother on Friday May 18th, 2012 at the Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 82 years.

Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her children: Linda (Peter), Leona (Ken), Leonard (Miranda), Larry (Wilma), Luella (Gord), Laura (Rick), Monty; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother Abe (Lavema) Wiebe, brothers-in-law Jake and John (Edna); sisters-in-law Agatha Pries, Mary (Dick), Agatha H., Helen (Cornie); many nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter W. Pries, daughter-in-law Joanne, great grandson Jordan, her parents Peter B. and Agatha Wiebe, brother Peter, sisters Helen and Susie, parents-in-law Peter and Mary Pries, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Viewing will be on Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. The funeral service for Tina Pries will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover Street in Steinbach. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

GENIA “JEAN” SHYPIT

Genia “Jean” Shypit succumbed to her three-year battle with lung cancer at the District Health Centre in Vita, MB on Friday, May 18, 2012.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Kost and Annie Tkachuk and her brother Johnny in infancy. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mike, her sons Jeff (Diane), Rick and Al (Sandra), her granddaughters Linda and Lana, her older brother William Tkachuk (Doreen), her older sister Mary Dueck and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Vita Funeral Home, 256 Railway Avenue, Vita, MB on Thursday, May 24 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a cancer care or research facility or an animal shelter of your choice.

LORI KWASNICA

Lori Kwasnica, 39, of Winnipeg, passed away suddenly due to a heart aneurism, on May 20, 2012, at the Sanford Medical Centre, Thief River Falls, MN.

She is survived by her beloved husband Dean, daughter Julia, parents Harvey and Judy Fiebelkorn, brother James (Heather) Fiebelkorn, sisters Donna Fiebelkorn, and Lisa (Kory) Wilson, seven nieces, and two nephews. She is also survived by her parents-in-law Roman and Aurora Kwasnica, and brothers-in-law Tim (Tina), Rodney, and Brent (Brenda).

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach with interment at the church cemetery, Hwy 12 South.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Julia Kwasnica Education Fund at the Steinbach Credit Union (Steinbach or Winnipeg Branches).

LYDIA ROSE GIESBRECHT

Lydia Rose was 90 years old at the time of her death on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1999 and her son-in-law Larry Friesen in 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Islay (Rick), Lawren (Carl) and Bonnie, her grandchildren, Matthew, Jill, Vanessa, Lindsay and Jordyn, her great-grandchildren Ryan, Devon, Madison, Jackson and Max, and her brother Eldon Toews.

The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

If any of you would like to make a donation to autismspeaks.org in Lydia's name, it would be greatly appreciated. Our mother was a pioneer in teaching autistic children.

WILFRED HOLME

Wilfred Holme, 67, of Grunthal, MB passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB

He is survived by his wife Grace, one daughter, two sons and their families, one sister and one brother.

He was predeceased by one brother, one sister and his parents.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St, Steinbach on Thursday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. with interment at the church cemetery, Hwy 12 South.

SUSAN GOOD

Susan Good passed away unexpectedly and without warning Monday, May 21, 2012 at her long time apartment in Steinbach. The cause of death is not yet known however she passed in her sleep. Susan had battled many illnesses for many many years of which the exact causes where never known. She was only 45 years old and her 46th birthday was just a few short weeks away. Her passing is a great shock to all who knew her and is very painful to those she leaves behind. She is survived by her only child and son Andrew Good, granddaughter Bella (by her son Andrew and his ex-girlfriend Damara Owen), her mother Susan Good, sister Cheryl Good, aunts Eva and Agnes, uncle John, dear friends Betty Anne Funk, Collette Bisaillon, Betsy, and several other close friends and distant relatives. She was a fighter and a good, kind-hearted, open person who always tried to stay positive. Even though her passing brings pain and grief to those that knew her, she now no longer is in pain and is finally at peace; she is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

A private family service will be held. Cremation has taken place and there will be a very small private burial at a private location at a later date.

JOHN KORCHAK

After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad and gido on Thursday May 24, 2012 at the Vita and District Health Centre.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of forty seven years, Mary; sons, Wayne, Brian and Ken (Connie). Gido also leaves behind his special grandson, Joshua John Andrew Korchak. John also leaves to mourn, his sister Mary Caron and brother Jarvis (Elsie), sister-in-law Myrtle Hologroski, sister-in-law Helen Kalik and brother-in-law Victor (Mary Ann) Trelinski as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends and neighbours.

A Prayer service for John was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 7:30 pm at the Vita Hall. Funeral services took place on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:00am at the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vita. Interment followed in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vita and District Health Centre or to the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church.

KENNETH RUTLEDGE

Surrounded by his loving family, Ken Rutledge passed away peacefully on May 25, 2012.

His kind and gentle spirit will be forever cherished and remembered by his wife, Kristin; children, Gwen (Dale Streich), Jan (Denis Janz), Jeff (friend Laurie), Grace (Karl Maier) and Suzanne; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Jenkins) and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, three brothers (Elmer, Iner and Dana) and sister Olive (Thorvaldson).

A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Steinbach on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to South Eastman Palliative Care Program, P.O. Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0 or the charity of one’s choice.

SUSAN BERGEN

Susan Bergen, 93, of Steinbach, MB passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Rest Haven Nursing Home.

She is survived by her husband Abe, five daughters, four sons, one sister one brother and their families.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

MARY NICHOLL ALSTADT

Mary was born on May 29th, 1920, in Jedburgh, Scotland and arrived in Canada in her mother’s arms at the age of 4 months. She grew up and received her education in the Woodmore and Greenridge communities.

In 2008, due to failing health, Mary moved to the Niverville Credit Union Heritage Manor. In 2010 she moved to the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach and in 2011 to Bethesda Place. She passed away quietly in the early hours of May 26, 2012 at the age of 91 years.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Henry on Christmas Day, 2001. She is survived by her only daughter Sharon, husband John Enns, grandchildren Jason (Joanne), Justin (Vanessa), Noel and Tessa, and six great grandchildren, Bethany, Ryan, Emily, Marlee, Harlee, and Lucas. She is also survived by her two sisters Alice Batten and Jean Zilkie and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private interment service for immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers if anyone wishes donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

SARAH (SALLY) SUDERMAN

Sarah (Sally) Suderman, 87, of Steinbach, MB passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital.

She is survived by two daughters, three sons and their families. She was predeceased by one son Mark in 1966 and one granddaughter Samantha.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 31 at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

ANNA (HARDER) GIESBRECHT

Anna (Harder) Giesbrecht, born March 21, 1915, died May 29, 2012. Anna leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Helen and her children: Max (Elaine) and their children Joel and Lacey, Riley and Brittany. Marlo (Ron) and their children Kallie, Mason and Kamryn; and Myron; three sons, Cornie and his son Trevor (Kathy), Henry (Kim) and their children Chantal and Ryan, and Jake (Joanne). Anna was predeceased by her husband, Jacob, in 1991 as well as her son-in-law Ken in 1990 and grandson Mallory in 1991.

Donations may be made to the Menno Home Foundation, Box 280; Grunthal, MB R0A 0R0 in her memory.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Interment at Grunthal Cemetery.

ABRAHAM DOERKSEN

Abe Doerksen was born in Mexico on May 8, 1923 and passed away on May 30, 2012 at 7:09 a.m. at Lion’s Manor, Winnipeg after a lengthy illness at 89 years of age.

Left to mourn are his loving wife Thelma Doerksen, one son Kenneth (Lynn) Doerksen, one daughter Lucille Doerksen, one step-son Ronald (Mildred) Doerksen, from his first marriage daughter-in-law Caroline and daughters Susie (Bob) Ricard and Doreen (Maurice) Krasniuk, sisters Mary Pederson and Susan (Louie) Byman and brother Willie (Patricia) Doerksen and their families. He was predeceased by his son Harold.

Funeral Service was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Monday, June 4 at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Menisino Cemetery in Menisino.

Donations in memory of Abe may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street; Wpg., MB, R3C 2B7.
