Emile Buydens

Passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday, October 14, 2006, Mr. Emile Buydens of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at the age of 84 years.

Emile is survived by his best friend Rhoda Heather and by numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters: Angele, Rachel and Alice (Leon DeRyck); one brother Victor (Suzanne); two infant sisters and by a close cousin Alphonse VanBrempt.

Emile was born at Buxelles, Manitoba on March 1, 1922, son of Joseph and Josephine (née Deraux). Emile was raised on the farm and loved the simpler life. Later, he moved to Dugald and then to Winnipeg. He always cherished his family and friends.

As per Emile's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at the Bruxelles Parish Cemetery on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Alexis Philippot

Paisiblement, à l'Hôpital de Saint-Claude le mardi 10 octobre 2006, est décédé M. Alexis Philippot de Saint-Claude au Manitoba à l'âge de 84 ans.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse aimante Josette (née Troisfontaines); trois enfants : Gilberte (Denis) Godin du Lac du Bonnet, Bertrand (Theresa) Philippot de Prince Rupert en Colombie-Britannique et Raymonde Philippot de Winnipeg; six petits-enfants : Robert (Raquel), Daniel (Leslie), Christian (Kristie), Melonie (Stéphane), Patrick et Stéphane; cinq arrière-petits-enfants Paisley, Liberty, Eben, Avery et Landon. Il laisse également quatre frères : Julien, Joseph (Yvonne), Henri (Cécile) et Raymond (Laurette); trois sœurs : Nathalie Jacques, Adrienne Troisfontaines (Jose) et Louise Badiou (Aimé); ainsi que de nombreux neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Il a été précédé dans le deuil par son épouse Mariette en 1956, deux sœurs : Angèle (André Oliviero) et Isabelle Philippot; un frère, Charles; et une belle-sœur, Claire Philippot.

La messe des funérailles sera célébrée en l'Église catholique de Saint-Claude le samedi 14 octobre 2006 à 10 h 30 par l'abbé Célestin Malengu Mubaya précédée par le visionnement et les prières à 10 h. Après l'incinération, les cendres seront inhumées dans le cimetière de la paroisse catholique de Saint-Claude.

Ceux qui le désirent peuvent faire un don en mémoire du défunt à la Fondation du district de santé de Saint-Claude, Casier postal 400, Saint-Claude MB R0G 1Z0.

Peacefully at the St. Claude Hospital on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, Mr. Alexis Philippot of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 84 years.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Josette (née Troisfontaines); three children: Gilberte (Denis) Godin of Lac du Bonnet, Bertrand (Theresa) Philippot from Prince Rupert B.C.and Raymonde Philippot of Winnipeg; six grandchildren: Robert (Raquel), Daniel (Leslie), Christian (Kristie), Melonie (Stephane), Patrick and Stephane; five great-grandchildren: Paisley, Liberty, Eben, Avery and Landon. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. preceded by viewing and the Rosary at 10 a.m. with Father Célestin Malengu Mubaya officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in the St. Claude Parish Cemetery.

Sadly on October 8, 2006, Janessa Lynette Woods entered the Spirit World. Janessa was born on October 18, 1992 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was a very special beautiful girl.

Graziella "Grace" Piche (nee Paul)

Peacefully on October 6, 2006, Mom passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 89 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1966, and her son Norbert in 2002. Mom will be sadly missed by her children Gilbert & Carrie Piche, Olive & Edward Doucette, Marilyn & Remie VanAchte, Yvette & Dale Mayner, Leona & Marcel Flamand, Robert & Pat Piche, Ronald & Barb Piche, Henriette & Art Bibeau, Victor & Pam Piche, and June & Jack Pelley. Also left to mourn are her 33 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and extended family members.

Before having a stroke 11 years ago, Mom loved traveling to visit family and friends. Mom was very creative and spent her remaining years doing her treasured hobbies. She loved to cook, sew, knit, crochet and make rugs. She blessed many people with the gift of her talents. Of course, Saturdays were always reserved for the TV bingo. Mom was also a gifted storyteller and she loved to share her stories with her children and grandchildren. These stories will live in our hearts forever. Mom was also a devout Catholic, who seldom missed a daily mass.

Prayers will be held at the St. Eustache Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 7 pm, followed by Funeral Services on Thursday, October 12. The viewing will take place at 10:00am, followed by the mass at 11:00am with Father Mike officiating. Active Pallbearers will be her grandsons Wayne Piche, Richard Haddock, Raymond Haddock, Greg Piche, Robert Sample and Phil Bibeau. Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of the grandchildren and great grandchildren in attendance.

It is Mom's faith in the Lord that comforts all of us as she joins God's Kingdom.

Odile Martel (née Rondeau)

C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de notre mère, grand-mère, arrière grand-mère. Paisiblement et entourée de sa famille, Odile est décédée le mercredi 4 octobre 2006 à l'hôpital de Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes à l'age de 82 ans.

Sa sœur Cécile (feu Gabriel 1989) Labossière, ses belles-sœurs Analda (feu Antonin) Rondeau, Emma (feu René) Rondeau, et de nombreux neveux et nièces.

Elle est allée rejoindre son époux bien aimé de 57 ans, Bernard (2003), son père Georges (1932), sa mère, Marguerite (née Kern) (1963), ainsi que ses frères : Marcel (1984), Richard (1988), Lucien (1982), René (1988), Antonin (1961); et ses belles-sœurs : Éva (1990) et Clémence (1999).

Odile est née à Saint-Léon le 18 décembre 1923, fille de Georges Rondeau et Marguerite Kern. Elle demeura à la ferme jusqu'en 1990 lorsqu'elle déménagea au village de Saint-Léon. Elle était très impliquée dans toutes les activités de la ferme familiale. Odile était très dévouée à sa famille et ses enfants ainsi qu'à la paroisse de Saint-Léon et à la culture française. Elle faisait partie de nombreux comités et organismes du village y inclus l'organisation du souper paroissiale annuel pendant au-delà de 50 ans, la rédaction de la publication mensuelle "Le Montagnard", et la réalisation du livre d'histoire de Saint-Léon "Pionniers de la Montagne Pembina", ainsi que nombreuses autres oeuvres. En plus de ces accomplissements, elle fut récipiendaire des Prix Réseau, Prix Riel et du Prix Léo-Rémillard.

Ton amour, ton courage et ta force serviront comme inspiration à nous tous. Maman, nous t'aimons et jamais nous ne t'oublierons. Repose-toi ! Sois en paix avec Papa. Nous pensons à vous.

Les prières auront lieu le dimanche 8 octobre 2006 à 20h au salon funéraire Adam à Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peacefully, with her family by her side, Odile passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Notre-Dame Hospital in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes at the age of 82 years.

Odile leaves to mourn her 14 children: Paulette, Claude (Angie), Roselyne (Roger Duclos), Gilles (Monique), Francine (Peter Vande Graaf), Michel, Suzanne (Claude Rémillard), Eugène, Charles (Diane), Monique, Lucie (Serge Gascon), Carole (Bob Saelens), Marina (Gilles Chabbert), Denise.

Odile was born in Saint-Léon on December 18, 1923. She was the daughter of Georges Rondeau and Marguerite Kern. She resided on the family farm until 1990 when they moved into the town of Saint-Léon. She was involved in all aspects of the farm and she thrived on the extremely busy lifestyle of a farm wife and mother. Odile was completely devoted to her family and her children as well as to the parish and the community. She took great pride in the French culture and took many strides to ensure that her French heritage would continue long after she was gone. She was involved in numerous committees and organizations in the community including the annual Fall Supper which she took part in for over 50 years. She was also instrumental in the inception of the monthly journal "Le Montagnard" and was involved in its publication right until the end. She and her team worked for three years to conceptualize the long-awaited Saint-Léon History book "Pionniers de la Montagne Pembina". This is just to mention a few of the projects she undertook and was so proud of. She received many awards in recognition of her accomplishments such as the "Prix Réseau", "Prix Riel" and the "Prix Léo-Rémillard.

Maman, your love, strength and courage will serve as inspiration to us all. We will miss you dearly and we love you more than words could ever say. It is now your time to rest ! Be at peace with Papa. You will be forever in our hearts.

Peacefully at the Carman Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, Mr. Gerry Cleutinx of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 62 years.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Christiane (née Robitaille); and five children: Joe (Lynn) Cleutinx of Winnipeg, Michael (Donna) Cleutinx of Portage, Linda (Patrick) Rondeau of St. Leon, Lisa (Kevin) Rey of St. Claude and Kevin Cleutinx (friend Lisa) of Notre Dame; three grandchildren: Sydney, Olivia and Owen; and five step-grandchildren: Britany, Breanne, Kelsey, Brooklyn and Madison. He also leaves to cherish his memory two brothers: Marcel (Gerarda) Cleutinx of Swan Lake and Laurie (Marlene) Cleutinx of White Rock, B.C., his mother-in-law Elise Robitaille (née Deleurme) four sisters-in-law: Fernande (Norbert) Dacquay, Regina (Romeo) Roch, Simone Dequier and Mary Robitaille (Rene) and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his father Joseph Cleutinx, his mother Zoe (née Mauws), one sister-in-law Yvonne Cleutinx, his father-in-law Joseph Robitaille, and by two brothers-in-law: Denis Robitaille and Albert Dequier.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Father Gabriel Levesque officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, Mr. Henri Rondeau of St. Leon, Manitoba passed away at the age of 78 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing one brother Raymond (Edith) Rondeau of St. Leon; three sisters: Berthe Fraser of Winnipeg, Roma (Henri) Lesage of Notre Dame, Alice (George) Lesage of St. Claude and one sister-in-law Lorraine Rondeau of Notre Dame. Berthold Kotschorek

Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Saturday, August 26, 2006, Mr. Bert Kotschorek formerly of Somerset, Manitoba passed away at the age of 91 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing three children: Belinda Kotschorek of Winnipeg, Don (Laura) Kotschorek of Somerset, and Gail Kotschorek also of Somerset; four grandchildren: Jennifer, Erica, David and Breanne. He also leaves to cherish his memory one sister Adeline Gerth and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bert was predeceased by his wife Simone (née Papegnies) in 1977; one sister Florence; and by three brothers: Harry, Fred and Paul.

With respect for his wishes, Graveside Funeral Services will be held at the Woodlands Cemetery on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jim Haupt officiating.

Simone Morrissette (nee Cyrenne)

Peacefully on October 28, 2005, Mrs. Simone Morrissette passed away at the age of 83 years.

She leaves to mourn her one daughter, Elaine and her husband Rodney Nickel, as well as one sister, Annette Tardiff, her sister-in-law Joan Cyrenne and Simone's grandchildren Micheal, Shannon and Kimberly and all her loving nieces and nephews. Simon's three great-grandchildren Megan, Jayden and McKenna will also forever miss their Grand-Mama.

Funeral Services were held in New Westminster, B.C. at an early date. Graveside Services were held in the Haywood Parish Cemetery of Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Msgr Roger Bazin officiating.

God please bless Simone with peace and happiness, love and compassion, strength and wisdom. Deliver her from every evil and all torments. Forever and ever. Amen.

Paphinus Alarie
October 11, 1913 - August 15, 2006

Peacefully at the Heritage Lodge on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, Mr. Pat Alarie of Elie, Manitoba passed away at the age of 92 years.

Pat is survived by three brothers: Paul, Leo (Therese), and Henry (Rachelle), two sisters: Yvonne and Rita (Reginald), and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Fred, his mother Eugenie, four sisters: Alfredina, Eva, Liliane and infant sister Yvonne, and by three brothers: Orius, Ulderic and Robert.

Pat was a carpenter and lived all his life in Elie. His faith was very important to him and he enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the local restaurant. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and family.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church in Elie, Manitoba on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 3 p.m. with Viewing at 2:30 p.m. with Father Mike Nwosu officiating. Interment to follow in the Elie Parish Cemetery.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the Heritage Lodge staff and to the care workers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the Manitoba Cancer Society.
