Karen Leibovici is opposition caucus whip in the Alberta Legislature. She is also critic responsible for FIGA and critic responsible for Consumer and Corporate Affairs/Deregulation and for Public Works, Supply and Services. She was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in 1993.
Ms. Leibovici was educated at McGill University from where she holds a BSW, MSW and postgraduate Diploma in Management.
She was a social worker in the Montreal Catholic School System, an industrial relations consultant with Ville Marie Social Service Workers of Montreal, a labour relations officer and an equal opportunities officer with the City of Edmonton, and a human resource consultant. Past and present community involvement includes president of the Ville Marie Social Service Workers, chair of the Edmonton Taxi Cab Commission, founding board member of the West End Transportation Advisory Committee, board member of the Chrysalis Business Advisory Council, Block Parent coordinator in Summerlea, and membership drive volunteer for the Aldergrove Community League.
Born on May 27, 1952, Ms. Leibovici is married with one child, and has been a resident of Alberta since 1980.
