Geraldine VanDun

VanDUN - Geraldine “Gerrie” VanDun (nee Bens) of Petrolia passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in her 56th year at Blue Water Health Palliative Care, on Friday, January 14, 2005 with her family by her side. Cherished wife of Joseph for 36 years. Beloved mother of Joanne and Steven Percy and Linda and Andrew Chwiecko. Loving Oma to her grandchildren Cierra, Aidan, Jayna, Ryan and our special angel in Heaven Nathan. Geraldine was the proud owner and operator of “21 Shell and Variety” of Petrolia for over 28 years. Born in Estevan Saskatchewan in 1949. Parents Wilhemina and the late John Bens. Sisters Nellie and Bill Lerch, Tina and Leo Verberne and brothers Henry and Janis Bens and John and Harriet Bens. Will be sadly missed by her father and mother-in-law John and Elizabeth VanDun and their family as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where parish prayers will be offered at 8:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Philips Church, Petrolia on Monday January 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. Father Dan Vere as celebrant. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia. Cremation to follow. As expressions of Sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph Health Care Foundation, London, Sarnia and District Humane Society, and C.E.E. Hospital Foundation.

Ethel Creamer

At Bluewater Health – C.E.E. Site, Petrolia, on Thursday, January 13, 2005. ETHEL CREAMER, (nee Hulley), 94 years, of Petrolia and formerly of Wyoming. Beloved wife of the late Victor Creamer (1965). Dear mother of Vivian and John Percival of Sarnia, Bert and Jackie Creamer of Point Edward, and the late Bob Creamer (1972). Dear grandmother of Kori Creamer, Cheryl MacKenzie, Al Cremaer, Brian Creamer and Stephen Percival. Dear great grandmother of Scott and Derek MacKenzie, Aaron and Emily Hamilton, Jennifer and Mark Rinaldo, and Brian Percival. Dear great great grandmother of Madeline Rinaldo. In accordance with Mrs. Creamer’s wishes, her body has been donated to the Anatomy Department at the University of Western Ontario. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation and may be arranged by calling the Needham-Jay Funeral Home at (519)882-0100.

Pearl Warren

At Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, on Monday, January 17, 2005. PEARL WARREN (nee Nickels), in her 100th year, of Petrolia and formerly of Camlachie. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin Warren (1978). Dear sister of Dorothy Cooper of Petrolia and the late Wilfred, Percy, William, Frederick, and James Nickels, Beulah Foss and Orabelle (McQueen) Lundy. Dear sister-in-law to Effie Nickels of Bothwell, Bessie Nickels of Petrolia, Florence Nickels of Wiarton and Edna Nickels of London. Special aunt of Loretta and Tom Needham, Janice Hart and Michael Houseman, Edna Smith and Harold, Roy and Ruth Nickels, Jack and Gloria Norris and several more nieces and nephews. Visitors will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the WYOMING CHAPEL, Broadway St., Wyoming, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitors will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Kari Lylander officiating. Dear grandfather of Jared, Marisa, Caleb, Josiah, Alyssa, Kristopher, Justin and Camy. Dear son-in-law of Jane Boersma of Wyoming. Dear brother of Leen and Els, Pete and Ina and Bert VanRuitenburg all of the Netherlands. Predeceased by an infant daughter in 1963 and his father, Arie VanRuitenburg. Predeceased by his parents William LeConte(1986) and Florence (LeConte) Williams(1990), sister Pauline Murray(2001), niece Christine DeKeyser (1967), and great niece Carrie Robinson(1991). Nadine Soper

Surrounded by the love of her family, it is with our deepest sorrow the we announce the death of our dearest NADINE ANNE SOPER, RN, (nee Miller)(Huff)(Shortt), of Sarnia and formerly of Oil Springs, on Wednesday, May 19, 2004. Grandma spent the last few months of her life at Bluewater Health and it was from there that she left us. She had an immense will to live and she will be deeply missed by all, Nadine was born July 23, 1920 to the late Douglas and Nell Miller. Beloved wife of Joe Soper and the late Garnet Shortt (1990). Precious mother of Pat and Bill Massie, Robb and Carol Huff all of Petrolia and Randy and Dianne Shortt of Oil Springs. Treasured grandmother Lisa McMurphy and Stewart Clarke of Petrolia, Cindy and Dave Herr of St. Thomas, Jeff Sutherland and Kim Wilson of London, Deanna Huff of Petrolia, Mike Huff of Sarnia and Steven and Melissa Shortt both of Oil Springs. Dearly loved great grandmother of Kelsey Hendrick and Jordon and Travis McMurphy. Dear sister of Clare and Jack Ross and family of Sarnia and the late Clifford, David and Lloyd Miller and their families. Missed by Wayne and Sue Sutherland of Petrolia. Dear step-mother of Gloria and Bill Aitken of Alberta and Betty and John Cook and their families of Sarnia. A dedicated, hard working women, Nadine was very proud of her nursing career. After graduating from the Chatham Public General Hospital Nursing School she served as a Lieutenant Nursing Sister in the Royal Canadian Army. From there she worked with one the great passions of her life “nursing sick children” as St. Joseph’s Hospital is Sarnia. She ended her career on Petrolia working many happy years at Lambton Twilight Haven as director of the nursing staff. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for sleep-overs at her house and for having us brush her hair. She will be remembered by all for her love of the sun, her love of family and for her sense of humor. Visitors will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, where the funeral service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 11:00 am. Rev. Mark Perry of Oil Springs United Church officiating. Interment in Oil Springs Cemetery. At Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia on Sunday, January 9, 2005. GEORGIA ELLENOR (nee Hillier), 86 years, of Petrolia. Loving wife of the late Alfred Ellenor (1986). Loved mother of Evelyn and Eldon Jackson of Thamesville, Gwen and John Hammond of Petrolia, ƒ±ƒÜƒÖƒâƒÕƒÔ and Sandra Ellenor of Essex, Ray Ellenor and Suzanne of Sarnia, William and Barbara Ellenor of Prairieville, Louisiana and the late Verna (1999) and her husband the late Donald (2003) Durance. Will also be missed by twenty grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren. Predeceased by two grandchildren. Dear sister Ruby and Melvin Rumbold of Brigden. A funeral service will be held at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Edwin Emerson officiating. Visitors will be received on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 216 Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. Interment of Black Creek Cemetery.
