WROE - Kathleen Margaret
Kathleen (Kay) Wroe died suddenly on Saturday November 29, 2003 at the North Bay General Hospital. She was 80. A resident of the North Bay area for more than 40 years, she most recently lived at Leisure World Nursing Home. She is survived by her son Tom (Carolyn) of Wolfe Island, Ont. and their daughter Emily Kathleen; and by her son John (Darlene) of Haileybury and their daughter Rebecca of Waterloo. She is also survived by her sister Eileen of Fraserville, Ont. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Margaret O'Connor, her brother Daniel and in 1968 by her husband Thomas. Mrs. Wroe was born in Port Hope, Ont., educated in Toronto and met her husband while working in Muskoka shortly after WWII. The family relocated to the North Bay area in the late fifties, where she worked in office management for Whitman Lumber, Sportspal Canoe and Concordia Centre. She was active in community organizations, including the YMCA, International Training in Communications, North Bay Nordic Ski Club and the North Bay and Area Museum. She will most be missed at the family cabin on Dorval Bay on Lake Kipawa, Quebec. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm at St. Brice's Anglican Church. Cremation to follow.

WARDELL - Ronald Roy "Ron"
Died suddenly at his home in Redbridge, on Sunday, November 30th, 2003. Ronald Roy Wardell, was the beloved husband of Judith Dianne Stratton, in his 63rd year. Loving father of Jodi Wardell of North Bay and David Wardell of Redbridge. Loving grandfather of Morgan, Sierra, Madison and Blake. Fondly remembered by his siblings Blanche Carmichael, Jean Evans, Jim Wardell all of North Bay, Norma MacDonald of Stratford, Edgar and Raymond Wardell both of Redbridge. Predeceased by his parents Olive and Percy Wardell and by his brothers Cecil and Stanley. Ron worked with the Ministry of Natural Resources for over 30 years, in the Fisheries Department. At this time the funeral arrangements are incomplete, for further information, please call the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME Recorded Visitation Line at 472-8811.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ex-Servicemen's Club and the Golden Age Club both in Redbridge will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

SHEFFIELD - Edna Emma Marie
Wife of the late Ernest Sheffield (January 1980) Edna passed away peacefully December 1, 2003 at Cassellholme. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Sophia Rausch. Edna came to Phelps Township (Balsam Creek, Redbridge) area from Commanda as a girl. She married her husband June 15, 1929 and settled in the area where she resided until taking up residence in Cassellholme January 1997. Most of her life was spent taking care of her ever growing family, plants and pets. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and was an avid quilt maker. A long time member of Phelps United Church, she was awarded a Life Time membership July 18, 2002. Left to mourn her passing are her sons; Douglas (Burley) of Redbridge, Allan "Mike" (Fran) of Capreol, Edward (Karen) of North Bay, Norman (Helen) of Redbridge, Ronald (Carol Piche) of Jocko Point, Larry "Joe"(Mary Joy Clark-Carriere) of Sturgeon Falls, and her daughters; Alice (Gordon Hewitt), Irene (Vincent Murphy) both of North Bay, Barbara (Bruce Lennox) of High River, Alberta and Gloria Wallace (Larry Ranger) of Redbridge. She will be sadly missed by 33 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Ralph (Margrit) of Scarborough and sister Mable (John Wright) of Ingersoll. Predeceased by an infant son (1947), son Stanley (May 2000) surviving daughter-in-law Jeannine, brother Maurice (1939), sister Helen Tyler (March 1998) and 2 infant grandchildren. Family receiving friends at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME Wednesday December 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4 at the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am. Spring interment at Terrace Lawn cemetery. A reception will follow at the Vets Club, Allans Rd., Redbridge.

DAIGNEAULT - Bernard Joseph "Bernie"
Suddenly at Leisure World, North Bay, on Friday December 5th, 2003. Bernie Daigneault, beloved husband of Virginia Starr "Ginny", in his 69th year. Proud and loving father of Randy, Gord Daigneault (Jennifer) of Grimsby, Cathy Sutherland (Al) of Barrie, Robert Forgie (Claire) of Paris, Deborah Shank (Guy) of North Bay, Ted Forgie (Delores) of Surrey, B.C., Evelyn Houston (Jim) of North Bay, Nancy Gagne (René) of Sturgeon Falls and Steven Forgie of South Korea. He will be lovingly remembered by his 33 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bernie worked for many years as a welder at the former Jarvis Clark Company. At his request cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home (across from city hall) on Sunday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in the Lakeshore Missionary Church. FOUND - Ethel Bishop "Bish"
Died peacefully at the Leisureworld Nursing Care Centre, on Friday December 5th, 2003. Ethel Bishop Boucher, was the beloved wife of the late Sherman Richard Found, in her 86th year. Loving step-mother of Rick Found and his wife Corrine of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Richard and Heather Found. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Boucher, by her brother Robert and sister Dorothy Vaughan. Bish was educated and worked as a Registered Nurse and later became a Stewardess first with TransCanada Airline, then with Air Canada. After retiring she married Sherman on January 18th, 1964 in Tampa, Florida. Together they resided in Mississippi, Ontario, until 1990, when they moved to North Bay. Sherman predeceased her the same year. "Bish's" family and friends will gather at the Martyn Funeral Home (across from city hall) on Wednesday December 10th from 1:00 p.m. until time for services in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

If desired, donations to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation, the Alzheimer's Society or the N.E.O. Regional Cancer Centre Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

JENKINS - William Arthur "Bill"
Formerly of Magnetawan, died at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on Thursday, December 11, 2003. William "Bill" Jenkins, was the beloved son of the late Ruby Jenkins, he was 74 years old. Dearly remembered by his cousin Herb Jenkins and his wife Maye of North Bay. At Bill's request there was cremation and an Interment of Ashes Service will be held at the Chapman Valley cemetery , Magnetawan in the Spring. Arrangements entrusted to the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall).

PORTER - Lyola Eugene "Lyle"
Died peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, December 13, 2003. Lyle Porter, was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Pearl Lainsbury, in his 89th year. Loving father of Jim Porter and his wife Marlene of North Bay and Lyle Porter Jr. and his wife Carole of Muskegon, Michigan. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Mark Porter, Lisa Edlund, Julie McNiff, Jennifer Ferguson, Valerie Mourot, Leona Copple, Diane McCharles and David McCharles and by his great grandchildren Carlie, David, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Connar, Jack, Tru, Maggie, Chloe, Montana and Taylor. Dear brother of Sully, Kenneth, Clayton and Aldean. Predeceased by his parents Mark and Aime Porter, by his sister Elvina and by his brothers Egburt, Simon, Esmond, Ivan and Earl. Lyle worked as a Mine Mechanical Supervision in Schumacher, retiring after 39 years. He was quite involved in Hockey, Golf, Bowling, Curling and was a member of the Lions Club and the Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Wednesday, December 17th, from 1:00 PM until time for services in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Cremation to follow the service.

WILLOUGHBY - Helen M.
At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Monday December 15, 2003. Predeceased by her brothers Robert, Clair, Gerald, Keith and Bert. Survived by her sisters-in-law Hazel and Jessie Willoughby and by nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Thursday from 1-2 pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 pm. Spring interment at Terrace Lawn cemetery.

COLLINS - Estella
Died at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Tuesday, December 23, 2003. Jane Rita Estella Haws, was the beloved wife of Wilfred Herbert Collins, in her 78th year. Loving mother of Richard and his wife Brenda of North Bay and Neil and his wife Carol Ann of Edmonton. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Lori, Tracey, Christine, David and by her great granddaughter Tiffany. Dearly loved sister of Dorothy of Collingwood. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Irene Haws and by her siblings Jim and Helen. Visitation will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services from the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 28th, at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow Monday, at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

MacLean - Jean Patricia
passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her December 24, 2003 at the North Bay General Hospital-Scollard Site. Born August 3, 1927 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Jessie (Black) Bishop. She lived in New Glasgow for most of her growing years, where she obtained her nursing diploma at the Aberdeen School of Nursing. Her family and career years were spent in North Bay, Ontario. Surviving are her devoted and caring husband of 53 years, Ross MacLean; her sisters Dorothy, Peg, nephew Bob Bishop and her children, Judy, Don, Hal, Scott, Susan, Paul, Sandra and Joe. She will be greatly missed by all her precious grandchildren, Jennifer, Jon, Adriana, Laura, Taylor, Emma and Anthony. She was predeceased by sisters, Mabel and Louis; brothers Lloyd and two infancy. A private family service will be held Friday December 26 at 10 am in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel. Many, many thanks to our dear friend and caregiver Theresa and to all of the nurses on 6 West at the North Bay General Hospital for their caring support.

Dean - Joan Winnifred (nee Madden)
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay, for Joan Winnifred Dean, who died suddenly in her 86th year on Saturday, December 27, 2003. The Dean family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1:30 PM until service time. Born and raised in Toronto, Joan graduated as a Registered Nurse from Toronto General Hospital in 1942, and moved to Northern Ontario with her husband Lloyd who predeceased her in 1989, where they raised a family of five children. Joan was an active member of the community and contributed her time and considerable energy to various causes and organizations. She was an avid reader who loved a good argument and stayed active physically and mentally by volunteering at the school library, playing bridge, walking, swimming and leading a senior's exercise class well into her 80's. Joan moved from Levack to North Bay in 1994 to be closer to her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Peggy (Doug Kuebler) of Montreal, Susan (William Straight) of Kenora, Carol (Jaff Smith) of Toronto, Geoffrey (Laurie Townshend) of Pembroke, Leslie (Chris Bethune) of North Bay and by her ten grandchildren Geoffrey, Martin, Tyler, Graham, Conor, Michael, Molly, Jesse, Brett and Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the North Bay General Hospital Foundation.

McLaren - Eva Mary (King)
At the North Bay General Hospital on Sunday December 28th, 2003, at the age of 68 years. Eva Mary King was the beloved wife of the late Roy McLaren whom she married in February of 1953. He predeceased her in 1980. Eva will be lovingly remembered by her children Theresa McIvor (Stuart) of Fort Francis and their children Erin and Alison, Douglas of Kingston, and his children Sarah and Alex, and his special friend Debbie, and her son Alex, Gordon (Diane) of Rutherglen and their children Craig and Amanda, Morgan (Sharon) of Moncton, New Brunswick, and their children Adam, Colin, and Hannah, Lorin of Rutherglen, Leslie (Christine) of North Bay and their children Dylan and Rehbekka, and Wesley of North Bay. As well as her husband Roy she was also predeceased by her son Roy, her parents Dorothy & Robert King and brother Raymond. Also survived by her brother Bob King (Mary Ellen) and sister Alice Scobie all of Sault Ste. Marie. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) today Tuesday December 30 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. then on Wednesday December 31st, at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Rutherglen, from 10:00 a.m. until time for services at 11:00 a.m. Spring Interment in Mount Pleasant cemetery , Rutherglen.

BROWN-MELLIS - Eileen Edith
At Cassellholme on Wednesday December 31, 2003 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her first husband Sydney in 1978. Survived by her husband of 20 years, Aneas Mellis. Loving mother of Betty Lord of Vancouver, Barb Flonders (Jim) of Fergus and mother-in-law of Shirley Brown of Kitchener. Predeceased by her son Sydney on Decemeber 17, 2003. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren David, Don, Cathy, Kim, Jennifer and Jaqueline and by three great grandchildren in Australia. Eileen was born in Calgary and after several moves came to North Bay in 1959. She has been an active member of St. Andrew's United Church, UCW, IODE for over 25 years and the head of Volunteer Services at the North Bay Civic Hospital for over 25 years. She also had a passion for card games, especially bridge. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church on Saturday at 11 am. Spring interment at the Terrace Lawn cemetery.

At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Wednesday December 31, 2003. Dear wife of Frank. Loving mother of Dave, Billy, Joey (Sue), Johnny (Betty), Bobby, Jimmy, Rick (Jane), Liz (Tim), Mary (Steve) and step mother of Fran (Fred) and Gary (Myrna). Predeceased by her stepsons Frank Jr. and Terry. Survived by her stepdaughter-in-law Nancy. Lovingly remembered by 30 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. McCULLOCH - Graham Johnson "Jerry"
passed away at his home in North Bay at the age of 74 years. Jerry was born in Hants County Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his parents Graham and Gertrude. At Sudbury, on Sunday, December 30, 2001. Peter McNeeley, was the beloved son of Violet McNeely, in his 53rd year. Loving father of Michael and Dale St. Jean and Bradley Belleau.
