passed away at the North Bay General Hospital in the presence of her family, on Tuesday June 15th, 2004 at the age of 71 years. Cherished mother of Chris and Sylvia, both of Burlington, Audrey is also survived by their father Peter Strache. Dearly loved sister of Sheila Cowper of North Bay and Marjorie Wilkin of Little Current. Predeceased by her parents the late Walter & Jean Glanville. Special aunt and dear friend of Nancy Pigden. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and her beloved pug Oscar. Formerly of Burlington, Audrey worked at Appleby Place prior to retiring. Suddenly passed away at home on June 13, 2004 at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by his first wife Vera. Beloved husband of Diane Reichstein. Dear son of Juliann and Joseph (deceased). Dear father of Robert (Bonnie). He will be missed by 1 grandchild Cindy and 1 great grand child Patrick. Also survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers; Irene, Lourdes (John), Mervin (Gertie), Joan (Cletus), Jean (Bert) and Buddy (Norma). Predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. At Justin's request there will be no visitation and no service.

WILSON - George Wm.
Peacefully at LeisureWorld Care Giving Center. Born in London, Ontario George received his early education in North Bay. He attended the University of Toronto, graduating as a Mechanical Engineer in 1933. He was on staff of British Aircraft Inspection in the United States until 1941 at which time he enlisted in the Canadian Army. George landed in Normandy with the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade on June 6, 1944 and later served with 14th Field Reg't. R.C.A. and was the recipient of the C.inC. Certificate. Upon returning to Canada George entered the employ of Ontario Hydro. In 1951 he went to British Columbia and joined Vancouver Iron Works from which he retired in 1971. George was a founding member of EGAW (Ex Greats of the Athletic World) and much enjoyed the camaraderie of repartee of that group. He was predeceased by is parents J.T. and Grave Wilson, brothers Clifford and John and sisters Rena, Vera and Patricia. Sisters Jean and Dorothy and brother Bert survive, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held this afternoon Tuesday June 15th, in the MARTYN FUNERAL CHAPEL.

HODGSON - Pearl Joan
Died at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Saturday, June 5th, 2004. Pearl Winter, was the beloved wife of the late Garfield Hodgson. She was in her 80th year. Loving mother of Ross and his wife Anna of St. John's, Newfoundland. Lovingly remembered by her granddaughters Krista and her fiancé Robert and Sarah-Jane and her husband Jason all of Ottawa. Dearly loved by her siblings Reginald Winter, Pamela Crisp and Patricia Childs all of London, England. Pearl's family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 28th, 2004. Valerie Besserer, the beloved wife of the late David William Besserer, was in her 83rd year. Loving mother of Robbin (Sylvia) & Garry (Elaine) both of North Bay and Kevin (Debbie) of Echo Bay. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Shelly, Mike Wieb, Heather, Amos David, Jennifer, Charlene, Charles, and Marla. Survived by her brothers and sister Jean Baptise of Timmins, Hector (Marg) of North Bay, Rose Alma of Brantford, Charles Homer of Kitchener, Therese of North Bay, Marqueritte of North Bay and Emile "Punch" Maurise (Carol). She was predeceased by her parents Hermas Desjardins (born Buckingham Quebec) & Elizabeth (nee Beauprie) (born Lumsden Quebec), and by brother Alfred Simion and sister Bernadette (Andy Roy). NEWMAN - Alice Elizabeth
Died peacefully in her 95th year on Thursday May 27th, 2004 at the North Bay General Hospital with family by her side. Alice was predeceased by her husband Alvin Newman. Loved by her children, Alice will be sadly missed by Douglas (Lane), Phoenix AZ., Robert (Kathryn), North Bay and Donald (Molly), Moncton N.B. Lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers Harold (Margaret), Ancaster ON and Lloyd (Bertha), Hemet, CA. A retired teacher, Alice taught many years at Chippewa Secondary School in the Home Economics Department. She was active in the community, being involved with the Horticultural Society, Canadian Club, Trinity United Church, Calvin Presbyterian Church, and the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario. Died at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Center on Wednesday, May 26th, 2004. Alex "Charlie" Gravelle, was the beloved son of the late Arthur & Marie-Louise Gravelle, in his 76th year. Predeceased by his siblings Simone, Albertine and Paul. Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be Celebrated at the St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church (163 High Street Callander) on Monday May 31st, 2004. Interment of ashes will follow at the Callander Union cemetery.

Donald Allan "Chink" Chamberlain was the beloved husband of the late Donna Chadbourn, who predeceased him in 1994. Proud and loving father of Doug (Lorraine), Dean (Lynn), Dale (Karen), Steve (Mary), Lorna Blumsom (Shane Gauthier), Shelly Mathieu (Peter), Rhonda Delachevrotiere (Terry), and Patti. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Sean (Courtney), Jennifer Hubley (Brad), Nancy (Lance), Derek, Krista, Kari-Lyn, Kelli, Brandon, Kory and Justin. Chink will be fondly remembered by his brother Ernie, mother in law Norma Chadbourn and sister in law Leona Chamberlain. Son of the late Florence and Stanley Chamberlain he was also predeceased by his granddaughter Candice, brothers Stanley and Ken and sister Joyce. A long time employee of Bennetts Tire & Battery Chink retired in the 1980s after 34 years of service. SHEA - David Duncan
At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard site on Sunday November 23rd, 2003 at the age of 94 years. Dave Shea and his beloved wife Ida (nee Hansen, ) celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past July 7th. As well as Ida, Dave is also survived by his sisters Irene Mills, and Frances Mills and her husband Herman, all of Dundalk, Ont. Predeceased by his brothers Irwin, Edwin and Harold and sisters Jean, Maggie, Mae, and Alice. Long time residents of Tilden Lake Dave & Ida settled there in 1942. He worked for several years as a guide, and in the lumber mill. He will be remembered by many as the owner of Shea's White Rose Service Station, a business that he and Ida operated for 28 years. In 1999 they moved to North Bay. At the North Bay General Hospital on Tuesday November 25th, 2003 at the age of 76 years. Norman Ross Hawkins and his beloved wife Colene M . Mauro were married for 55 years this past September. Proud and loving father of Craig, Thomas (Debbie), and Jane Anne Dobbs, (Rick) all of North Bay. Norm will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Richard, Tommy, Shawn, & Craig Jr. Hawkins, and Melinda & Keith Dobbs, and his great grandchildren Casandra, Jordon, Kendra, Kayla, Tyler & Austin. Also survived by his brother Clarence of North Bay. Predeceased by his brothers Orville, Wilfred, and Joe and sisters Mildred Smith, Birdina Brown, Lorena VanBuskirk, Edna Fletcher & Olive. For over 35 years Norm was a salesman for Coke a Cola, calling on customers throughout the north. At his request cremation has taken place. Loving sister of Elaine Harling of North Bay, Sylvia Finch of Feronia, John (Lois) of North Bay, Harvey (Jeannine) of Feronia, Milton (Margaret) of North Bay. She will be sadly missed by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and also her workers at Cedarview Group Home, who looked after her needs, giving her care and love for the past few years. Predeceased by 2 sisters Marina and Margaret, 3 brothers-in-law Lloyd Harling, Lloyd Finch and Elmer Messenger. After a brave battle at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Friday November 28, 2003 at 69 years of age. Loving father of Cara Shamess of Richmond Hill. Former husband of Robin of Orleans, Ont. Sadly missed by his sisters Elaine Scarr (Stanley) and Lynda Lindsay (Donald) both of Parry Sound and by his sister-in-law Frances of Mississauga. Predeceased by his parents Soloman and Annie Shamess and by his brother Albert. Survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. Ed will be missed by many close friends. Edwin started teaching at Algonquin Composite School and spent most of his career teaching at West Ferris Secondary School. He was also active with the OSSTF.
