REED - Chester Hugh
Suddenly at Balsam Creek, on Friday, September 13, 2002. Chester Reed, was the beloved husband of Phyllis Lee, in his 73rd year. Loving father of Christine (Camille Turgeon) of North Bay, Sandra Reed of North Bay, Brad (Julie) of Bradford, Marty (Kim) of North Bay, Ruth (Chris Goodall) of Chilliwack, and Frank (Vicky) of North Bay. Predeceased by his son Stan. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Bonnie, Daniel, Shannon, Sean, Michael, Nicole, Scott, Dale, Neil, Steven, Colleen, Randy and Laurie. Dearly loved brother of Gerald, Allan, Frank, Joyce, Irma, Audrey, Shirley, Hilda, Dora, Joan and Eileen. Predeceased by his brothers Bill, George and Norman. Chester's family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral Services from the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 18th, at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in Balsam Creek.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Salvation Army "Kettle Fund" will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

LAFLAIR - John Gordon Isaac
Died suddenly in Corbeil, on Saturday, September 14th, 2002. John Gordon Isaac Laflair, was the beloved husband of Theresa Marie "Terri" Desmarais, he was 47 years old. Loving father of Emile Boulley and his wife Vicki of Kirkland Lake and Darryl Boulley of Welland. He loved dearly his two grandchildren Dawson Parker and Cole Brady. Dearly loved brother of Lowa Desrocher (Yvon) of Hamner, Doreen Carlson (Jack) of Texas and Faye Lessing (Lawrence) of British Columbia. Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Violet Laflair and by his sisters Phyliss Savoie, Judy Bennie and Cindy Desrocher. John spent many hours cherishing the gift of his two grandchildren. He also looked forward to the annual camping trips with his boyhood friends "the Survivor's". John's family will receive friends at the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services from St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church (163 High Street Callander) on Wednesday, September 18th, at 2:00 PM. Cremation to follow the Funeral.

LAPORTE - Pearl Myrtle
Pearl Myrtle Laporte (nee Sykes) passed away at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site on Monday September 23, 2002 at the age of 82 years. Survived by her children Trudy Dekker (Ken) of Callander, Terry Laporte (Chris) of North Bay and Donna Murphy (Tim) of Consecon, Ontario. Predeceased by husband Norman, her son Tom and daughter Cindy. Beloved Gram of Tom, Ron, Tammy, Eric and Holly and great grandmother of Christopher, Caitlyn and Alex. Pearl was also predeceased by her sister Ellen and brothers Eric and Mel. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday September 30, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. until time for a memorial service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Cremation with interment of ashes in the family plot in Terrace Lawn cemetery. No flowers please.

WASHBURN - Margaret "Marg" M.
After a full life, peacefully at Eastholme, Powassan on Thursday September 26th, 2002 at the age of 92 years. Margaret Scott was the beloved wife of the late Wm. A. Harold Washburn, who predeceased her in 1974. Proud and loving mother of Cam (Barb Shaw) of North Bay and the late Bill, who predeceased her in 1975. Lovingly remembered by her granddaughters Meghan and Kristan. A natural entertainer Marg was a talented dancer and pianist. During the war she was the lead dancer in a theatrical group that travelled the country entertaining the troops. The Washburns were former residents of New Liskeard where Harold served as the Postmaster. Marg will be remembered by many in the Tri Town as a highland dance & cultural instructor. A dedicated member of Trinity United Church she was also very active with the Humane Society donating her time, talents and funds. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday September 30th from 10:00 am until time for services in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Terrace Lawn cemetery.

EVESON - Charles
Died after a couragous battle with cancer, at the North, on Sunday, September 29, 2002. Chas Eveson was the beloved husband of Edna May Bowe, in his 83rd year. Loving father of Christine and her husband Robert Saudino of North Bay, Linda and her husband Richard Schumacher of Ottawa and Kathleen and her fiance Frank Russell of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Michael, Derrek, Chas and by his great grandchildren Anthony, Christina and Haley. Chas was dearly loved by his brother of Ronald and his wife Minnie of Sault Ste. Marie and by his nephew Ronald his wife Sue of Sudbury. Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services from the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 2nd, at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow the service.

WARREN - Rudy
Peacefully at his residence on Monday September 30th, 2002, in his 86th year. Loved father of Tom Warren (wife Louise) of North Bay. Proud grandfather of Michelle and Renee Warren. Beloved companion of Judy Warren. Predeceased by his daughter Roberta Ann Warren, his first wife Shirley Warren, and his brothers Jack, Ernie and Murse. Rudy was a proud, longstanding member of the Aad Shrine Temple in Duluth, Minnesota, and an active member of the Rorab Shrine Club in North Bay. He was an honoured member of the C.I.M.M. (Canadian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy), and served on the executive of the North Bay Association for Community Living. Family and friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday October 3rd from 1-4 p.m. Cremation with interment of ashes at Terrace Lawn cemetery. In

lieu of flowers a donation to the North Bay Association for Community Living, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

GYETVAI - Michael
At North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Thursday October 3, 2002. Dear husband of Helen MacFarlane. Survived by brothers Erno of California and Leslie of Hungary. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Maria. Also survived by one nephew and four nieces. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Saturday from 2-3 pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3 pm. Interment on Monday at the Terrace Lawn cemetery.

WILSON - Eva M.
Died at Nipissing Manor Nursing Home, on Friday, October 4, 2002. Eva Windsor was the beloved wife of the late J. Earl Wilson, in her 99th year. Loving mother of Merv and his wife Marg of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her grandsons Andrew (Joan) of Elmvale, Doug (Cathy) of Oakville, Ian (Diane) of Callander, by her great grandchildren Casey, Garrett and Brett and dear little friends Montana and Chloe. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters James (Daisy), George (Winnifred), Bill (Mary), Emily (Harry May), May (Jack Netzke), Ada (Herb Dwyer), Muriel (Gordon Caley), Myrtle (William Roberts) and Emma (Don MacDonald). Survived by many nieces and nephews. There will be visitation for Eva in the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday, October 7th from 12 noon until time for services in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 PM. Interment to follow at Terrace Lawn cemetery.

BEDFORD - Frank Edward
passed away at North Bay General Hospital on October 6, 2002 at the age of 91 years. Frank Edward Bedford, beloved husband for over 66 years of Emily Elizabeth "Liz” Stiles. Proud and loving father of Beryl Lemke (Robert) of North Bay, and Helen Slechta (Ronald) of Kalona, Iowa. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Helen Anne and Captain Karen Lemke, Scott Slechta and Beryl Marner (Jon); and his great-grandson Camden. He is also survived by his sister Marion Lawson of Surrey, B.C. and was predeceased by three sisters. In January of 1928, Frank joined the Bank of Montreal. Forty years later he retired from the Bank having served in many positions which included branch manager, inspector, management training, and Assistant Superintendent of the Western Division. A dedicated husband and father, Frank was active as a Rotarian, was proud of his 50 years of Masonic service, and of being charter member #1 of Oshawa’s Parkwood Lodge #695 A.F. & A.M. A proficient and avid lawn bowler, Frank thoroughly enjoyed the game well into his 80’s. Following his retirement, he and Liz settled in Cannington, Ont and three years ago moved to North Bay to be closer to their family. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A service will be held Tuesday October 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wyld Street. Cremation will follow.

SANDERS - Lillian Muriel
Died after a courageous battle with cancer, at the North Bay General hospital - Scollard Site, on Monday, October 07, 2002. Lillian Muriel Larrett, beloved wife of the late Albert Douglas "Doug" Sanders, in her 82nd year. Loving mother of Marsha Johnson and her husband Bill of North Bay and Nancy Gillard and her husband Rick of Bangkok, Thailand. Lovingly remembered by her grandsons, Christopher Johnson and his fiancée Terre of Ottawa and Jeremy Johnson of North Bay. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Mona Larrett, by her sister Millie and by her brothers Archie, Howard, Harold and Garnet. She was dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (1120 Premier Road) on Saturday, October 12th, at 2:00 PM.

If desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Morphine Pump Fund at the North Bay General Hospital.

CAMERON - John Hughy "Jack"
Suddenly at Ottawa on Tuesday October 8th, 2002 at the age of 66 years. John Hughy "Jack" Cameron was the beloved son of the late Reuban Cameron and his wife the former Mabel Hazzard. Dear brother of George of Corbeil, Muriel Wright (George) of North Bay, Keith of Bonfield, Bert (Claire) of Mattawa, Sandra Cully (Dennis) of Hamilton and Bethann Serre (Albert) also of Mattawa. Predeceased by his sister Jean Gibson & infant brother Douglas. Also survived by his brother in law Gord Gibson of Hamilton. He will be lovingly remembered by is many nieces and nephews. Jack worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Armbro Construction - Brampton Region. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home this evening, Thursday October 10th from 7 - 9pm. Funeral services will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home chapel on Friday morning October 11th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Calvin Township cemetery.

Harling / Anderson - Irene
At Leisure World Nursing Home on Wednesday October 16th, 2002, Irene Harling Anderson at the age of 78 years. Dear mother of Wayne (Tina) of North Bay, Connie Dickerson and Gail Anderson both of Hamilton, Barry (Anne) of Rutherglen, Sherry Pratt (Leslie) and Nancy Anderson (Rick) both of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers and two sisters. Irene's family would like to thank the staff at Leisure World Care Giving Centre for their excellent care and kindness given during Irene's time there. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home today, Friday October18th from 2 -4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Martyn Funeral home Chapel on Saturday October 19th at 1:30 p.m. interment to follow in St. John's Anglican cemetery.

KERR (nee Descotes) - Beulah Britannia "BUNNY”
Went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Leisure World Care Giving Centre. Beulah Britannia Descotes, was the beloved wife of the late Dougald Rennie Kerr, in her 89th year. Proud and loving mother of Dawn Bellaire and her husband Ernest of Guelph and Doreen Lariviere and her husband Steve of North Bay. Predeceased by her two-year-old daughter Dale. Cherished grandmother of Dale Bellaire (Russell Parrott) of Waterloo, Allanna Pedder (Jan) of Kitchener, Steven Lariviere Jr. of North Bay, Jason Bellaire of Ottawa and Shannon Dikken (John) also of North Bay and precious great grandmother of Kerra & Gavin Pedder, Zackary & Zane Dikken and Bretton Parrott. Predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. A former resident of Temiscaming, Beulah and Dougald moved their family to North Bay in 1962. For many years they resided on Anita Ave. A dedicated Christian Beulah attended the Calvary Pentecostal Temple. A very loving mother to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren she encouraged their spiritual growth and faith. Beulah loved music and flowers. Services to celebrate Beulah's life will be held in the Calvary Pentecostal Temple, Ski Club Road, on Monday, October 21st, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Terrace Lawn cemetery.

If desired donations to the "Dorothy Mercy Mission Fund” at Calvary Pentecostal Temple (This mission assists the impoverished widows of the Ukraine) will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

LAPIERRE - Lawrence R. "Lorne"
Lapierre, Lawrence of North Bay passed away on October 31, 2002 at the North Bay General Hospital. Lorne was born 1930 in Copper Cliff, Ontario and was the son of the late Ferdinand Lapierre and Elizabeth Dick. He was a man with a passion for his family, his country and the Provost Corps of the Canadian Armed Forces, which he served for 28 years. He served Canada in the Korean War which he received an Award of Merit. He also served in Japan, Germany and Cypress. He retired in North Bay as the Sector Commander of the North Eastern Ontario Branch of the Special Investigations Unit. He is survived By his beloved wife of 47 years Shirley (Decaire) and his sons David (Kim Rossi) of Sudbury and Mike (Brenda Laroche) of Alberta, his grandsons Michael, Chris, Nicholas (Tasha Rich), Devin, Keith and his great grand son Conor. He is also survived by his sisters Marie Langworth (John) of Ottawa, Catherine Talevi (Lawrence) of Sudbury and Anne Racine of Sudbury. He will be missed by all his loving nephews and nieces especially Donna McClocklin (David) of Orilla. He was predeceased by his brother Allan (Lillian) of Sudbury and Margaret Lewis of Ottawa. He will be missed by his life long friends John Peterson (Dell) of St Catherine and Jim (Barb) McConnery of Ottawa and his brother in-law Don Decaire (Bev) of Callander. Special thanks to Doctor Eckler, Doctor Finnis, Doctor Crewe and the Nurses of the Critical Care Unit at the North Bay Civil Hospital during this difficult time of need. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium. The funeral mass is to be held at St. Peter's Apostle Roman Catholic Church (299 Airport Road) on Monday, November 4th, at 11:00 am.
