With great sorrow, the family of Alex announces his passing on Monday August 25, 2008 at the Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton in his 86th year. Survived by his beloved wife and friend Mary of 59 years. Loving father of Lennard (Lily Aubé) and Brenda Panzer (Robin). Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Derek Panzer; Bryan Gorgei, Sonia and Sarah Buggie. Will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON on Wednesday from 7 - 9p.m. A Celebration of Life for Alex will be held in the Chapel on Thursday August 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Gow, Helen 1930-2009

passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, September 21, 2009, beloved wife and best friend of James Gow for over 60 years. Loved mother of Catherine (Grayson), Robert (Debra) and Kevin (Lena) and loving grandmother to Erin (Tom), Lindsay (Robert), Andrea (Nathan), Michael (Michelle), Brandon, Sheldon and great grandchildren Braden, Liam and Taylor. Helen will be fondly remembered by her sister Pat (Norm), brother Reginald (Nora) and her sister-in-law Jean as well as many nieces and nephews along with her many friends and neighbours. A special thank you to all the CCAW staff that cared for Helen at home and a very special thank you to all of the staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. Thank you to all who sent cards of well wishes and to the many friends who visited Helen all through this difficult time. Grabiec, Eleanor 1929-2010

Eleanor drew her first breath on Monday September 23, 1929 and she drew her last breath on January 16, 2010. She is mother to Christopher (John), Wendy, Les (Brenda) and grandmother to Nicole and Deanna. She leaves behind countless friends including her Tuesday group who she cherished throughout her earthly life. She is predeceased by her husband Charles (1986) and her mother Maria Dlugosz-Szostak (1950), and survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara and Alice. Her passion was her family and her gardens. Her life was about planting seeds – seeds of love and generosity in our hearts and seeds in the ground which produce abundant beauty and life in so many different ways. Those seeds within us and in the gardens of so many people will continue to bloom and give testament to her ongoing love and life. Special thanks to Wendy, Brenda, Tracey, Anne Woods and Dr. Bob Kemp staff, for all they did to help mom be comfortable in her last weeks. Please join the family for visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (behind the Royal Botanical Gardens) BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Monday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Family prayers and remembrance will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 128 Edgemont Street South, Hamilton, where she was a long-time and very active member, on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Greaves, Helen "Peggy" 1921-2008

Peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Larry Greaves. Loving sister of Alice Sherwood and her husband Stuart of Ottawa and Elsie Utman of Burlington. Will be remembered by her nieces and nephews. Peggy was a very kind and gentle person who touched many people. Special thanks to Pat Woods and Debbi Brown for their love and kindness. Green, Blair William 1943-2008

Suddenly at the Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton after a brief illness on Monday September 29, 2008, two weeks after his 65th birthday. Beloved partner and best friend of Audrey Hallett. Dear father of Rob (Heather) and Dave (Kelly) all of Burlington (and also survived by their mother Judy Keast), and dear step-dad of Shelley Gauthier (Kevin) and Tracy Gordon (Mark) all of Burlington. Loved Grandpa Green of Jaxson, Brooklynn and expected newest grandchild. Papa Bear of Jack, Emma, Abbie and Brock. Loving brother of Don Green (Lynn) of Thornbury. Blair will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends at the Burlington Golf and Country Club and his many other friends and business associates. Blair will be remembered as a long time Burlington lawyer with the firm of Green Germann. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous and well fought 21 year battle with cancer, on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in his 79th year. Beloved husband of 57 years to Betty (nee Murray). Predeceased by his parents Sam and Nina Greer. Loving father to son Michael and his wife Helen, son Mark and daughters April (Pat) and Heather Greer. Loving Papa of Maegan, Julie and Robert. Survived by his sister Sheila Ridge and predeceased by his brother-in-law Don. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. Peter was a retired 34 year employee of Bell Canada and remained active weekly with the Bell Pensioner Group as well as volunteering with Glanbrook Home Support since 1991. Peter was extremely passionate about fishing and his long time love of motor sports. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the entire CCAC Home Support Team for their wonderful care, consideration and compassion, in particular to Dr. Khera.

Peacefully, after a short illness, on January 11, 2010, at the age of 77.

Loving husband of Madeline for 58 years. Beloved father to Sandra (Rick) Sheldrick, Gordon Gripper (deceased), Larry (Janet) Gripper (deceased), and Bob (Kim) Gripper. Papa to 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held at the St Peters Hospital Chapel, 88 Maplewood Ave, Hamilton (905.777.3837), on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2pm.

Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

GRIS, Antonilia (nee Torresin), Surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 15th, 2009, in her 94th year, Antonilia departed to fly with the angels. She often was entranced by their beauty. Loving wife of the late Ottorino Gris. Precious mother of Rosalie & Gabriel (Deceased) Cicchi, Ronald & Lorraine Gris, Frank & Karen Gris. Dearest Grandmother of Deborah & Luciano Cacioppo, Ernie & Felina Cicchi, Gabriel Jr. (Deceased) Peter John & Nina Cicchi, Daniella & Dennis Piccolotto, Sherri & Steve Schell, Rick Gris, Scott & Ruann Gris, Jason & Claire Gris and Jodi Gris. Beloved Great Grandmother of Angelica, Victoria, Aurora, Ernie Jr., Joseph, Matteo (Deceased), Isabella, Gabriel, Anthony, Cassandra, Christian, Blair, Adam, Chad, Christopher, Shawn, Evan, Rylie and Laura. Predeceased by her Parents, Bernardo & Rosina Torresin, her sister Giovanna (Jenny) and brother-in-law Angelo Tonin, her brother Anthony & sister-in-law Lillian Torresin, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Adolfo & Katina Gris, Arrigo Gris, Mario & Amelia Gris, Ennio & Elisa Gris, Alfredo Gris, Romano & Maria Gris and Mirco Gris. Antonilia is survived by dear sisters-in-law Velia Gris and Rina Dinon and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy and Canada. Antonilia truly enjoyed the company of family and friends. Her sweetness captivated the hearts of all who knew her. Her ever present smile and endearing greetings of “Amore” and “Tesoro” will be treasured always by those who were honoured to know her. The Family will be forever grateful to Dr. Tuttle, the Nurses, Personal Support Workers and all the Staff at Extendicare Nursing Home where Antonilia was so very lovingly cared for. Appreciation is extended also to family and friends for many kindnesses shown to Antonilia over the years. Grunau, Otto 1924-2009

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Otto Grunau at Queen’s Gardens Nursing Home on Friday, June 19, 2009 in his 85th year. Otto was the beloved father to Roland and his wife Linda, Harold and his wife Leisa and will be sadly missed by his granddaughters Kirsten and Madison. Loving brother to Greta Wehrmann and Wanda Kriehn and her husband Helmut and their families in Germany. With Otto’s passing will come tears and an empty spot in our hearts. He will be thought of often and only with happy thoughts. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Queens Gardens for everything they have done. Guagliano, Alfonso 1929-2010

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing on Thursday February 11, 2010, of a loving husband, father, and grandfather in his 81st year. Alfonso was the beloved husband of Maria (nee Collura) and loving father of Roger (Pamela), Mariann Martin (Paul) and Charlie. He was the cherished Nonno of Nicolas, Laila, Chloe, Luke and Cole. Alfonso was the son of the late Orazio and Marianna Guagliano and the son-in-law of the late Cologero and Salvatrice Collura. He is also predeceased by his sister Crocifissa (Pietro) and brothers Sam (survived by Jovanna) and Ignazio (survived by Serafina). He will be missed by his brother´s-in-law; Charlie (Vinny), Salvatore (Dominica), the late Pietro (Cologera), Carmelo (Pat), Luigi (Margaret), and Joe (Teresa). Alfonso also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Alfonso will be remembered for the great love he has given to his loved ones and for the great life stories he would always share. With much sadness Steve passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, on Monday June 9, 2008 in his 85th year. Loving husband of Josephine (nee Cinquemani) and the late Alba (nee Quondamatteo). Much loved father of Debbie, Rick, Steve and Adele. Step father to Laura and John. Guité (nee McBrearty), Opal Marie Edith 1937-2009

Suddenly, while vacationing in Hawaii with dear friends, Maria Benson and Nelly Leys, our sweet Maman and sparkling gem passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009. She flew away to a Hawaiian paradise with a zest for life that will be with us forever. She had a compassionate way of loving everyone and touched so many lives in so many ways as a mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and true friend. She devoted her life to her family and those she cared deeply for. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Born in Bonaventure, Quebec, on May 17, 1927. She was the beloved daughter of the late Philip and Bertha McBrearty (nee Casey). Predeceased by her husband Yvon Guité; brothers Rubin, Albert, Harvey, Leo and sisters Ruby and Stella. She is survived by her loving companion of 25 years, Lloyd Kupser of New Westminster, B.C., her 6 children, Philip of Hamilton, ON, Maurice (Belinda) of Delta, BC, Marcel (Robert) of Hamilton, ON, Ruby of London, ON, Armand of Langley, BC, Darlene (Scott) of Blandford, NS; her 12 grandchildren, Monique, Kim, Rebekah, Jonathan, Sam, Joel, Eddi, Jezzi, Nathan, Sarah, Simon and Sydney; her 15 great-grandchildren, Ryley, Dylan, Caleb, Christian, Matthew, Trent, Jayson, Ryan, Natalie, Danielle, Jacob, Taylor, Alyssa, Jade, Quentin; her 3 sisters, Ruth of Quebec City, QC, Mary Grace of Azilda, ON and Eileen of Drummondville, QC; her 5 brothers, Roby of Elliott Lake, Ralph of Maria, QC, Russell of Chicoutami, QC, Oben of Montreal, QC, Clifford of Hamilton, ON and Lawrence of Brampton, ON; many, many nieces and nephews; life long friends Vi and Rene, dear friends Janet, Maria, Edie, Nelly; and so many, many more. She was strong in faith and always prayed to St. Anne du Beaupre, who we know will hold our sweet Maman in her arms as she begins a new journey. Since Opal’s passing, suddenly her brother Roby McBrearty of Elliott Lake succumbed to his death on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in his 80th year. He will also be missed by all of the family.
