Peacefully at home on Friday, September 7th, 2001. In her 75th year.
Beloved Wife of John. Loving mother of Terry and his wife Nancy, and Gordon and his wife Jackie. Dear Omi of Tyler, Corey, Alexander and Jillian. Dear sister of Herta and her husband the late Joseph Duguay of South Carolina. Sister-in-law of Inge and her husband the late Carl Hofkirchner, and Alfred and Toni Tasek. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel”, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Thursday, September 13th from 12:00 o’clock noon until time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel. Memorial Donations to the Lakeridge Health Oshawa - Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family.

MARSHALL, Thomas -
passed away peacefully on September 7, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Palliative Care, Peterborough. Beloved husband and best friend of Winnifred (nee Hasson-Dotey). Loving father of Tobin (Joanne) and Shawna. Cherished grandfather of Cameron and Patrick. Dear brother of Jim (Dolores), Bill (Dorrie), Mae Featherstone (and the late Cecil), Sally Thatcher (Michael). Tom will lovingly be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Tom's extended family have been close to him with their love, Larry Dotey (the late Karen), Michael Dotey, Leo Dotey, Theresa Dixon (Barry), Dolores Tomlinson (Bruce) and our many grandchildren. Tom worked as a pressman at the Globe & Mail, and then at the Toronto Star where he retired from in 1990. Friends will be received at the Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Ave., Ajax, on Sunday September 9 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Church (21 Bayly St. E. Ajax). Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic cemetery. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Sage Age Players Group, they let Tom know that he was missed and that they loved him. Their many visits at home and the palliative care group were appreciated. Many thanks for the wonderful care from Drs. Beamish and Curtis and the nurses in the palliative care at St. Joseph's and the Kawartha Home Care Nurses and the Access Centre. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph's Care Foundation (Palliative Care), 133 Hunter St. E., Peterborough K9H 1G7 would be appreciated by the family.

NEMISZ, Richard Nicholas "Dick" -
in his 82nd year. peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday Sept. 7th, 2001. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Nemisz. Dear father of George Nemisz, Gary & his wife Patti, Peter & his friend Diane, & Mary Ann Nemisz. Cherished "Papa" of Jessica, Garrett, Sarah, Carly, Alexandra, Gregory, & Nicholas. Survived by brother Bill & sisters Jessie & Ella. Predeceased by siblings Jim, Mike, & Nellie. Visitation will be held at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville 7-9 pm Sunday. Funeral Service will take place in our chapel 11am Monday. Interment to follow in Zion cemetery. Donations made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

PIEKENBROCK, Erika (nee Otto-Korth) -
With great sadness the family announces the passing of Erika Emilie Johanna Hildegard Piekenbrock, in her 87th year, on September 7, 2001 in Oshawa, Ontario. Born in Werneuchen-Berlin, Germany on October 26, 1914 she is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Heinrich Piekenbrock Sr. (1985). Loving mother of Lutz and wife Irene, Gerhard and wife Ingrid, Kurt and wife Lynne, Henry Jr. and wife Margrid and Gudrun and husband Willi Kern. She will be sadly missed by her 12 grandchildren and her two sisters, Irmgard Korth and Edith Bruhn. The family extends a special thanks to the outstanding staff of Thornton View, Oshawa for the exceptional care given to Erika. Although we mourn the passing of our mother, we must celebrate her life and the challenges she overcame in order for all of us to be here today. She was left without a father at 5 months during WW I; faced the adversities of growing up during the Great Depression and immigrated to Dar es Salaam, East Africa in 1928 with her family. Erika met and married Heinrich Piekenbrock in 1933. With WW II raging in Europe, the family endured a British internment camp and eventually was deported to Germany in 1940. The family remained in Germany until 1955 when Heinrich immigrated to Canada followed by two older sons and in 1957 by Erika and the three youngest children. The well being of her family was always front and centre. Today we mourn you. We will always miss you and we will be eternally grateful for all that you have given us. Friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Tuesday September 11th from 7pm- 9pm. Prayers will be said in the funeral home at 8:3O p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 12th at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the People Church (Stevenson Rd south of Rossland Rd). Interment MOUNT LAWN cemetery , Whitby. Memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Remember me, not as I am now, but as I used to be, because, I remember you all, and look on with a smile, I’ve only gone to rest a little while. I can live my life, in the hearts of all of you. The memories will live forever.

Formerly of Tweed, at Montgomery Lodge, Belleville, on September 6, 2001, in her 82nd year. Beloved Wife of the late William Leonard Ervine. Dear mother of Leonard (and Sharon) of Bradford, Harold (and Mari-Anne Mitchell) of Bowmanville, Ron (and Anne) of Oshawa, Therese (and Colin) Gebicki of Victoria, BC, Agnes (and Grant) Mumby of Read. Loving grandmother of Mark and Andrea Ervine; Shauna (Steve) Chambers and Kathryn Ervine; Michelle (Ben) Ho and Meghann Ervine; Craig and Leanne Gebicki; Darcy (Kim), Pat and Brittney Mumby and great grandmother of Kennedy Schell and Rhese Chambers. Sister-in-law of Clarice and Agnes Treacy. Predeceased by her parents Francis and Mary (Hogan) Treacy, brothers Joe and Gerald Treacy and sister Lucille Treacy. Mrs. Ervine will rest at the Cassidy Funeral Home, Tweed, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Carthagh's Church, Tweed, on Saturday, September 8, at 11 am. Interment St. Carthagh's cemetery.

EVENDEN, Stephen (T-Bone) -
(Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43). At Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a valiant battle with cancer on Thursday, September 6, 2001. Stephen Evenden entered into rest in his 76th year. Predeceased by his wife Margaret. Dear father of Edward and his wife, the late Linda, Vivian and her husband Bill Smith, Margaret Carscadden and her husbandSam Calleri, Bernard and his wife Lorraine, Debbie and her husband Dave Johnston, Terry and his wife Sharon, Karen Mak and Stephanie and her husband Wayne Thrasher. Dear brother of Bernard and his wife the late Gussie, Hazel Arnburg and her husband Arnold and Buster and his wife Nancy. Predeceased by his six brothers and sisters. Lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service in the chapel on Sunday, September 9th at 1pm. Cremation. At the request of the family memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Saturday 2-4 and 7-9pm.

McDONALD, Alma Amelia -
At Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa on Thursday, September 6, 2001, Alma in her 79th year. Beloved wife of the late Joe McDonald of Lindsay, Ont. Dear mother of Jackie and her husband Len Rogers. Remembered by her grandson Darryl Taylor and wife Shelley and great-grandchildren Corey, Meghan and Brandon. At Alma's request there will be no visiting or funeral service. If desired, donations made in memory of Alma to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. MONTGOMERY, Douglas George -
Douglas George Montgomery in his 61st year, son of Beatrice and the late Melville Montgomery, peacefully at his son's home on Thursday, September 6, 2001, passed into spirit. Fay stands by her husband forever. Michael and Brenda feel they had the best Dad. Daughter-in-law Joan and son-in-law Scott grieve with their spouses, Charlotte, Emma and Fayth will miss their Grandpa dearly. Doug’s brother Bob and sister-in-law Sharon and their family share this sorrow. A life long resident of Oshawa and G.M. employee, Doug lived well, an avid sportsman and traveller, he will be remernbered for his kindness and wit. Doug’s family thank everyone for their prayers and loving support during the last few months. Loving father of Karen (Mark), Douglas (Sally), Jerry (Michelle) and Tracy (Glenn). Loving Papa of Jennifer, Brenna, Garrett, Jeffrey, Kyle, James and Shannon. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his sister Frances Stafford, (Jack predeceased) and brother David (Naomi). Predeceased by brothers James and Robert arid sister Jacqueline Jones. Loving mother of Karen Hayes and her late husband Rick and Randy Beauprie and his wife Gail. Dear grandmother of Kevin and Steven Hayes, Melanie and Michelle Beauprie. Predeceased by her mother Ethel. Friends were able to call at the Morris funeral Chapel, 4 Division St., Bowmanville on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held in our Chapel on Saturday at 11a.m. Interment Bowmanville cemetery. Agnes Jessie Isobell Marshall, in her 84th year, was the wife of the late Alfred Francis of Derryville. Beloved mother of Joan and her husband Ed Pallister of Gamebridge and the late Carol Snelgrove (1999). Dearly remembered by grandchildren Darren, Deborah, Tamara, Ed and Susan, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, also one sister Rose Purvis of Lindsay and one brother Albert and his wife Alma Marshall of Oshawa. Predeceased by 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Dear great grandmother of Maria and Nataslia Byrdine and Francesca Spited. Rita came from a family of 12 children and is survived by her brother Peter Debrincat in Malta and 3 sisters Lela Mizzi of Oshawa, Georgina Mercier of Malta and Annie Aquilina of Whitby. Predeceased by her parents George and Dolores Debrincat, brothers Paul, Joseph, John and Dominic Debrincat, and sisters Carmela Cauchi, Nina Spiteri and Mary Debrincat. Friends will be received at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Thursday, September 6th from 2 - 4 and 7 -9 P.M. In loving memory of Laura Ann McDonough, loving daughter of Bryan and Debby, and sister to Krista, who sadly passed away at 1:17 p.m. September 5, 2001 at the Hospital for Sick Children, in her 17th year.
