MacKENZIE, Alexander James -
September 27, 1947 - October 6, 2001.
Died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 32 years to Maureen. Loving father to Lynn (and Paul), and Laura (and Justin). Devoted son of the late Bill and Violet MacKenzie. 26 year employee with the Toronto Transit Commission. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2001. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre (c/o Oshawa General Hospital Foundation) would be appreciated.

MARTIN, Florence -
Peacefully surrounded by love, on Saturday, October 6th, 2001 at Toronto General Hospital in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Ron. Loving mother of Andy and Michelle Cutting. Dear daughter of Emma (nee Cottage) and the late Leonard Bull. A Complete Funeral Service will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel”, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, October 12th with Visitation from 11:00 A.M. until time of Service at 1:00 P.M. Cremation to follow. Memorial Donations to the Toronto General Hospital Cardiac Care Unit or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

MORRISON, James -
James was born in Edmonton on December 31, 1920 and passed away on October 6, 2001 in Lakeridge Health Oshawa. He leaves behind a wife Pearl (nee Apostle) after 59 years of marriage; a son Robert and his wife Cheryl and granddaughter Ashley of Marshfield, Mass., and granddaughter Kimberly of San Jose, California; a daughter Beverly and her husband Bryan Barlow and granddaughters Gwendolyn, Elisha, and Rhiannon of Newmarket, Ontario; a sister Gwen of Ladysmith, BC. and a brother Ian of Deep River, Ontario, sisters-in-law Kay (deceased), Bessie (deceased), and Anne. James will be missed by many nieces and nephews. James began his career as a chemist for DIL, Montreal and was transferred to their nuclear division in 1945 at the University of Montreal and in 1946 to Chalk River, Ontario where the division was taken over by NRC in 1947 and in 1951 became Atomic Energy of Canada. He remained there until 1976 when he was seconded to the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan for 3 and 1/2 years. While with AECL he travelled extensively to the USA, England, France, Switzerland, Russia, Greece, India, Taiwan and Korea. He retired from his Tokyo posting in 1980 and then spent the last 16 years in Oshawa. There will be remembrance from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. Memorial donations to Oncology Department at Lakeridge Health Oshawa or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Chiu and the Oncology Staff at the hospital.

OSWALD, Isabella Elizabeth "Bet" -
Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, October 6th, 2001 in her 80th year. Predeceased by her loving husband John Straughan Oswald. Caring Aunt of Sylvia and her husband John Maxted. Bet will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews from Canada and abroad. As well as her sister-in-law Bunty of England and close friends Jean of Canada and Edna of England. As requested by Isabella immediate cremation is to take place followed by a Memorial Service on Thursday, October 11th at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE "Thornton Chapel", 847 King St. W. (905-721-1234) with visitation 1 hour prior to the Service. Memorial donations to Lakeridge Health - Oshawa Durham Region Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

PEARSON, Wayne (Pipe) -
At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday October 6, 2001. Wayne (Pipe) Pearson at 59 years of age. Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn. Loving father of Wendy, Hope, Mona and Tom. Lovingly remembered by his special grandson Spencer. Dear son of May and the late George Pearson. Dear brother of Jack, Bob, Susie and Manny. Wayne will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa, with complete funeral service in the Chapel on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. Cremation MOUNT LAWN MEMORIAL GARDENS . Peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2001. Beloved wife of the late Henry (Harry) Platt. Loving mother of Valerie Blaize (Patrick), and Frank (Judi). Sadly missed by her grandchildren Karen Emslie (Andy), Douglas, Stephen (Barbara), and great-grandchildren Kimberlee, Craig, Scott, and Scott. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday, October 8, 2001 at 3 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

POWELL, Murray Orlon -
At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, October 6th, 2001 with his loving family at his side. Murray, beloved husband of Ruth (Houlihan). Loving father of Debra and her husband David Tebbit of Mississauga, Lori and her husband John Byrne of Oshawa. Loved "Gramps" of Graham Tebbit. Brother-in-law of Connie Powell and Jean Hamm of Oshawa. Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Lorenzo (Ren), Cyril (Cy), and brother-in-law Dennis Houlihan. Murray was an R.C.A.F. veteran of World War 11 and a graduate of the University of Toronto, faculty of Pharmacy 1948, Retired as Director of Pharmacy, Oshawa General Hospital 1983. He was a former longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Oshawa, and the Oshawa Golf Club. At Murray's request, a private family service was held October 10th at The Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. E. Oshawa, with interment at Oshawa Union cemetery . Memorial Donations made to Lakeridge Health Oshawa Medical and Cardiac Care, would be greatly appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Dick Giroux and the caring medical and nursing staff of 9 main and 4 main, Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

RINTJEMA, Jantje (Jan) nee Herder -
Went to be with her Lord on October 6, 2001 at Lakeridge Health Centre, Oshawa. Jantje was in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Tjeerd (Ted) Rintjema (1998) and their infant daughter Jeanette Anne Karstine (1955). Lovingly remembered and missed by one sister, Tina Fintelman of Cameron, Ontario, and one brother, Wieger Herder in Holland, and many relatives and friends. Predeceased by 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Mrs. Rintjema rested at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street, Whitby on Tuesday October 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Hebron Christian Reformed Church, 407 Crawforth Street, Whitby on Wednesday October 10 at 2pm. Interment GROVESIDE cemetery . Memorial donations to the Canadian Bible Society would be appreciated.

ROBINSON (nee Stycke): Gloria (Vickie) -
Retired from Hillsdale Manor. Peacefully on Saturday October 6, 2001 at Dearness Home in London, Ontario in her 86th year. Gloria is survived by her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Terry Bauwens of London, son Bill of Oshawa, her grandchildren Billy, Kaytee, Ashley and Brianna, her sister Anne Fortin and her brother Bill Stycke as well as nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate Gloria's life was held at the Armstrong Funeral Home. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family

(Retired employee of the Oshawa Group) After a brief illness on Saturday, October 6th, 2001, peacefully went to be with the Lord. Loving husband of Lee. Cherished daughters Diana and her husband El White; Debbie and her husband Morris Stark; Wendy and her husband Terry Ali. Dear grandfather of Leanne and her husband Chris; Laurie and her husband Mike; Ryan; Spencer and Brayden; and great-grandson Noah. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, and nephews and his extended families. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Steve and his wife Irene, her grandchildren Larissa and Peter all of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and her sister Stefania Hawryliw of Toronto. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Saturday October 13th at 10:00am with interment at St. Wolodymyr and St. Olha Ukrainian cemetery , Courtice. Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Port Perry on Saturday, October 6, 2001, Mary Woodhouse formerly of Hamil­ton in her 99th year. Beloved and cherished wife of the late William Woodhouse. Loving mother of daughter Marilyn and husband James Stewart of Hampton, also son Gordon and wife Ina of Hamilton. Beloved grandmother of James Jr., Jeffrey, Scott, Glenn, Brent, David, and only granddaughter Janet. She is also survived by 12 great grandchil­dren, one great great grandchild and one sister Elizabeth Walker of Hamilton. Funeral service was held in the chapel of the M.A. CLARK AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 567 Upper Wellington St., Mount Hamilton, Ontario on Wednesday, October 10.
