Elizabeth (Betty) nee Miller Carr - 05/14/2006

Peacefully, in Ottawa at the Grace Manor on May 13, 2006, Betty Carr in her 97th year. Dearly beloved wife of the late Ewan Carr. Cherished mother of Nancy Clark ( the late Gordon) and Kenneth ( the late Patricia ). Proud Nana of Glen, Shawn, Kevin, Betsy, Bradley, Tammy and great-grandmother of 7. Betty was raised in Montreal with her much loved siblings Lena, Nancy, George and Viley, all of whom predeceased her. She brought joy to all who knew her. Her family extends their thanks to her caregivers and friends at the Grace Manor. Funeral services will be private. For those wishing, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Marie-Rose Ernestine Carriere - 05/12/2006

December 12, 1918 - May 11, 2006 On Thursday, May 11, 2006, a beloved and unique woman passed away. Marie-Rose lived both a long and good life. She will be remembered mostly for her determination, strong dedication to her family, her art, career, and her studies. She had worked for the Department of Defense, French Embassy in Washington, and co-founded the Department of Psychiatry at the Hawksbury General. After retiring from a long career as a Family and Marital Psychiatric Social Worker, she dedicated her time to international adoptions. She was the first woman in Canada to adopt a child of the opposite sex. Marie-Rose in the first graduating classes in Social Work, and was part of the first group of people allowed in Auschwitz when it reopened. Marie-Rose held three masters; last one received in 1999, had received a grant from UNESCO fellowship for Slavic Studies during the 50's and was finishing her Doctorates in Philosophy at the Dominican College when Alzheimer afflicted her. She is survived by her son Michel, wife Tracy. She was the proud grandmother of Gabrielle and David. A special acknowledgement to the team of nurses and staff on the 3rd floor at the Residence St-Louis for their help and support. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road, at Aviation Parkway, on Monday, May 15, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, from 10 a.m. until Service time in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. For those who wish donations in memory of Marie-Rose to the Elisabeth Bruyere Centre.

Lynn (nee Currie) Cuddington - 05/10/2006

Lynn passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 9 at the age of 50. Daughter of the late George and Mavis Currie, Lynn was predeceased by her husband, Gary Soley. Lynn will be missed by her sisters Sharon Anderson, Jill Trantham (husband Bill) and Meredith Vrbanac (husband Paul) as well as her nieces and nephews David Trantham, Heather, Allison, Matthew and Daniel Vrbanac. Lynn recently retired from The Correctional Service of Canada and served as the Executive Director of the International Corrections and Prisons Association. Lynn's sprit will live on through her gift of life. Friends may visit at the Memorial Funeral Home of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 584 Somerset Street West on Friday, May 12, 2006 from 5pm until 8pm. Private interment. Donations may be mad to a charity of your choice.

Peacefully passed away, after a lengthy battle with liver disease, on May 16, 2006 at the age of 69 at the St-Vincent Hospital. Son of late Jacques (late Marie-Madeleine De Caluwe). Beloved husband of C cile (Farley). Loving father of Lise (R jean B dard), Andr and Johanne (Denis Chartrand). Cherished grandfather of Julien, Sophie and David. Dear brother of Xavier (Agn s De Coster), Marie-Alix (late Jacques Rajabalee), Fran oise (Ga tan B dard), and late Paul (C line Audet). He will be foundly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Friends may visit at the St-Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (Aviation Parkway), on Thursday, May 18 from 7 to 10 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St-Gabriel's church, 55 Appleford, on Friday, May 19 at 11am. Interment Notre-Dame cemetery in Vanier. The family wishes to thank all medical staff that attended to Raymond's care over the years as well as to the very compassionate and devoted staff of St-Vincent Hospital.

born May 18, 1930 in Nippissing, Ontario, raised in Creighton Mine, Ontario; passed away in hospital on Sunday, May 14th, 2006. Beloved father of Susan (son-in-law Patrick; grandchildren Jessie & Ryan) of London, England, and Karen (son-in-law Daniel; grandchildren Justin & Jake) of Newmarket, Ontario; predeceased by sons Jeffrey and Patrick; survived by sisters Florence and Donna and brothers Richard and Pat; predeceased by brothers Leonard and Leland and sister Lorraine. Many thanks to the caring staff at Southlake Residential Village. Family and friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 from 7-9 p.m.; and on Thursday, May 18 from 12noon until internment at Notre Dame cemetery , 455 Montreal Road, Ottawa at 1:00 p.m. In memory of John, donations to the Alzheimer s Society would be appreciated.

Grandfather to Christopher and Kevin Brown (Ottawa), Melissa Brown (Calgary), Lisa and Gregory Dinwoodie (North Bay), sister-in-law Dorothy Dinwoodie (Kincardine). Private family service to be held Wednesday, May 17th at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry on Woodroffe Avenue.

R.N., OCH 1960 Peacefully at home on Sunday, May 14, 2006 in her 67th year, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Beloved wife of Douglas Forsyth. Loving mother of Cynthia (Michael Turton), Doug (Joann Wylie) and Patti (Dale Stevenson). Loving Nana of Steven, Jason, Matthew and Alana Turton, Kyle and Adam Forsyth, and Benjamin and Kathryn Stevenson. Survived by brother Keith Brownell of Calgary. Predeceased by her parents, Alvin and Ena Brownell, her brother Jack and grandson Daniel Turton. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses who cared for her, especially Dominique, and Dr. Margaret Farncombe and her palliative care team. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, Ottawa on Tuesday, May 16th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 17th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue on Thursday, May 18th at 1:00 p.m. Interment Pinecrest cemetery. Peacefully on Tuesday, May 11, 2006 at the age of 87. He will be dearly missed by his sisters Isobel Berry and Marion Cook as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at Merivale United Church, 1876 Merivale Road on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 2:30pm. Interment Merivale United cemetery followed by a reception in the Church hall. Leila "Gwen" Holmes (nee Wood) - 05/15/2006

Peacefully, at home, in her 72nd year, following a courageous battle with leukemia, on Saturday May 13, 2006. Beloved wife of Bruce of 46 years. Gwen leaves behind Her son Greg of Calgary (Suzanne) and grandchildren, Justine, Paige, Brandon and Erika. Born at South River Ontario. Predeceased by parents Clayton and Hazel Wood. Survived by brothers John (Joan), Robert (Beverley) of North Bay Ontario. Also missed by several relatives in the North Bay area. Gwen was employed at Deloitte & Touch for over 20 years. She was an active member of Southminster United Church and will be sadly missed by the Book Club girls . Gwen requested immediate cremation. There will be a memorial service at Southminster United Church, Bank Street at Aylmer Avenue, at 11.00am on Friday May 19th followed by a reception in The Ladies Parlour. A private interment service will be held at Pinecrest cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa branch of the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
