Peacefully, in his sleep at the Glebe Centre on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 on his 88th birthday. Devoted son of the late Elmer D. Ruttle and Mabel May Kilfoyle. Beloved husband of 64 years to D. Isobel Ruttle (nee Scobie). Loving father of Milt (Gwen), Westport, Ont., Janet (Gil Ronholm), Powassan, Ont. and Barbara (Alex Scott), Brinston, Ont. Cherished grandfather of Colleen Ruttle (Don Homme), Red Deer, Alta., Phillip Ruttle, Eckville, Alta., James Ronholm (Melinda Kent) Sundridge, Ontario, Richard Ronholm (Marguerite) Amherstview, Ont., Cynthia Ronholm (Ron Hildebrandt) Madawaska, Ont., Brian Scott, Brinston, Ontario, Robert Scott, Brinston, Ontario and six great grandchildren. Dear brother of Irwin Ruttle (Irene), Kingston, Ont., and Inez Ruttle, Ottawa, Ont. He will be sadly missed by his special niece Diane Shaw (Scobie). Orville will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Monday, April 17th, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 and on Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 from 10am until service time in the Chapel at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Capital Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Shriner's Hospitals, the Smiths Falls Railway Museum, the Glebe Centre or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Formerly served at the Ottawa Chinese Christian Mission and also in Montreal. A Prayer Warrior of OMF (Overseas Missionary Fellowship). She was born October 3, 1913 and passed away April 20, 2006. She is survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday, April 23 from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, April 24 at 11:30 am. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. We would like to thank all her friends at the Glebe Centre for the excellent care in the last few years.

William (Bill) Smith - 04/20/2006

passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Laurier Manor. Predeceased by parents William Smith and Rena Smith (Taylor) of North Bay. Loving husband of Doreen Smith (Hoad) for 53 years. Proud father of Cheryl Anne Smith (John Neufeld) and Derek Smith (Joanne Crone). Dear grandfather of Melissa and Lalia Neufeld and Krista and Courtney Smith. Great-grandfather of Amara and Katsia Marsan. No visitation by request. Funeral Service will be held at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Malloch Road cemetery in Arnprior. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He will be sadly missed.

Albert H. Smith - 04/10/2006

passed away peacefully on April 10, 2006 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kaye) for 66 years. Much loved father of Terry (the late Sharon) and Kathryn Fright (Eric). Dearly loved "Pop" of Jordan, Daniel and Stephanie. Loving brother of Wesley and predeceased by Clarence, Gladys, Ernest, Bertha, Margaret and Victor. Albert will be missed by many friends. Al served in World War II as a Radar Operator with the RCAF; 43 years of faithful service with The Mutual Life of Canada. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Wednesday, April 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 13 from 12 noon until Service time in the Chapel at 1 p.m. followed by a reception at the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Roxy Lavinia Swan - 04/21/2006

It is with great sadness that Roxy s husband and children announce her passing in her 81st year after a very courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife for nearly 60 years of Norman W. Swan. She has left behind her cherished children, Tom (Betty), Louise (Ron), Wayne (Dominique), Nancy (Don) and Grandsons Andrew, Blair, Justin, David and Kyle. Also, as part of her extended family Christine & Eric, Jenna & Zach, Gabrielle & Sophie. She was a longtime choir member of St. Paul s Eastern United Church. She also was a faithful attendee of Remembrance Day Ceremonies and Battle of the Atlantic (1st Sunday in May) over the years. She was a Past Matron of Lorraine Chapter No44, OES. Her mastery in her kitchen for flavourful food was envied by many. Her pies at Church bazaars were spoken for before she even entered the Church. Her vibrant personality, her beautiful smile, her love of bridge and her ability to engage in meaningful conversation on every level will be sorely missed. Her eagerness to always learn has been cut short by a dreadful disease. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul s Eastern United Church, Cumberland & Daly on Tuesday April 25, 2006 at 1 pm. Interment of ashes will take place at the National Military cemetery at Beechwood cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday, April 27 at 12noon. Interment to follow at the Jewish Community cemetery , Osgoode, Ontario. Shiva to be observed from Thursday to Sunday at 18 Stonebriar Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K2G 5Y2. In hospital on Wednesday May 10, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer, aged 61 years. Beloved husband of Rosa. Loving father of Paulo (Elizabeth). Cherished brother of Jose, Diana, Sameira, Luz, Beatriz, Manuel and Luis. Fernando will also be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and his Portugese community friends. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway, Friday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Senhor Santo Christo Roman Catholic Church, 1100 Kenaston St. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10 a.m. Interment Beechwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Reid Arthur David - 05/16/2006

A.D. Reid was born in Montreal in 1918 and passed away after a short illness in Ottawa, on 16th, May 2006. Proudly of Irish and Scottish decent. Survived by his youngest son, Steve (Liane) and grandchildren; Stefanie, Kyle and Holly of Ottawa , his middle son, James (Caroline) and grandchildren; Keri, Derek and Jordan of Montreal and by his eldest son, Tom and partner Sharon of Toronto. Also survived by his brothers, Telford, Kenneth and brother-in-law Allen. He joins his beloved wife Doris and siblings; Jim, Bill and Annettie in the arms of Jesus and God, in the kingdom of Heaven he embraced throughout his 87 years of Christian life. Art was passionate about life, honour, morality, and most importantly about doing the right thing always and without question. He built a career in commercial packaging, rose to the VP level and started his own business in his early 60 s, showing the vitality he carried throughout his long life. A WWII veteran, Art volunteered in 1939 and served in the Canadian Navy. He was stationed in Halifax, then Southampton UK and participated in the Allied Forces invasion of Normandy in 1944. Art was honourably discharged in 1945 after serving his country. Several years later, on a ski train headed from Montreal to Ste. Agathe he met his wife Doris and renewed a romance that had begun before the war. Art and Doris married in 1954 and settled in Rosemere, Quebec. In 1988 they moved to Ottawa where they grew to love the city, and all it had to offer. He joined the Metropolitan Bible Church and was consistently proud of it s growth over his many years of membership. A lover of nature and the outdoors, Art enjoyed golf, curling, skiing, sailing, walks, hikes, and observing all the natural beauty Canada has to offer and encouraged his children and grandchildren to do the same. Art had a kind word for everyone . He sponsored godchildren in Africa and the Philippines, and led his family by example. He will be greatly missed by his three boys, his daughters-in-law, his six grandchildren, his brothers and sisters-in-law. We love you Dad, thanks for your leadership and guiding hand. May you rest in peace Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, May 18, 2006 from 7-9pm. A private family graveside service will be held. Beloved granddaughter of Lynn McDonough (Clifford) and coucounne of Diane Mackenzie. Dear great-granddaughter of Helene Gareau and Blanche McDonough. Makayla was the dearly loved niece of Karrie Brideau, Jeffrey and Joey Mackenzie. Makayla was the best friend of Sarah Buell. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway, on Friday, May 19, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Olmstead Ave., Vanier, ON. on Saturday, May 20th, 2006 at 10 a.m. Interment Notre-Dame cemetery. As an expression of sympathy a Memorial contribution to the Children's Wish Foundation, 2580 Innes Road, Orleans, K1B 4Z6, would be appreciated by the family.
