Cherished mother of Nancy Clark ( the late Gordon) and Kenneth ( the late Patricia ). Proud Nana of Glen, Shawn, Kevin, Betsy, Bradley, Tammy and great-grandmother of 7. Betty was raised in Montreal with her much loved siblings Lena, Nancy, George and Viley, all of whom predeceased her. She brought joy to all who knew her. December 12, 1918 - May 11, 2006 On Thursday, May 11, 2006, a beloved and unique woman passed away. Marie-Rose lived both a long and good life. She will be remembered mostly for her determination, strong dedication to her family, her art, career, and her studies. She had worked for the Department of Defense, French Embassy in Washington, and co-founded the Department of Psychiatry at the Hawksbury General. After retiring from a long career as a Family and Marital Psychiatric Social Worker, she dedicated her time to international adoptions. She was the first woman in Canada to adopt a child of the opposite sex. Marie-Rose in the first graduating classes in Social Work, and was part of the first group of people allowed in Auschwitz when it reopened. Marie-Rose held three masters; last one received in 1999, had received a grant from UNESCO fellowship for Slavic Studies during the 50's and was finishing her Doctorates in Philosophy at the Dominican College when Alzheimer afflicted her. She is survived by her son Michel, wife Tracy. She was the proud grandmother of Gabrielle and David. A special acknowledgement to the team of nurses and staff on the 3rd floor at the Residence St-Louis for their help and support. Lynn passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 9 at the age of 50. Daughter of the late George and Mavis Currie, Lynn was predeceased by her husband, Gary Soley. Lynn will be missed by her sisters Sharon Anderson, Jill Trantham (husband Bill) and Meredith Vrbanac (husband Paul) as well as her nieces and nephews David Trantham, Heather, Allison, Matthew and Daniel Vrbanac. Lynn recently retired from The Correctional Service of Canada and served as the Executive Director of the International Corrections and Prisons Association. He will be foundly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Peacefully, at home, in her 72nd year, following a courageous battle with leukemia, on Saturday May 13, 2006. Beloved wife of Bruce of 46 years. Gwen leaves behind Her son Greg of Calgary (Suzanne) and grandchildren, Justine, Paige, Brandon and Erika. Born at South River Ontario. Predeceased by parents Clayton and Hazel Wood. Survived by brothers John (Joan), Robert (Beverley) of North Bay Ontario. Also missed by several relatives in the North Bay area. Gwen was employed at Deloitte & Touch for over 20 years. She was an active member of Southminster United Church and will be sadly missed by the Book Club girls . Gwen requested immediate cremation. There will be a memorial service at Southminster United Church, Bank Street at Aylmer Avenue, at 11.00am on Friday May 19th followed by a reception in The Ladies Parlour. A private interment service will be held at Pinecrest cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa branch of the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
