MacVICAR - Went quietly to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Extendicare, Port Stanley. Mrs. Helen (Rose) MacVicar of St. Thomas, wife of the late Lorne D. MacVicar (1970), in her 93rd year. Mother of William D. MacVicar and his wife Margaret of St. Thomas. Grandmother of Jim MacVicar and his wife Nancy of Yellowknife, N.W.T., Steven MacVicar of Windsor, Bill MacVicar and his wife Janice, Linda Neil, Kevin Baker and Mark Baker and his wife Wendy, all of St. Thomas. Sister of James Rose of Brampton and the late William R. "Jake" Rose (1982). Also survived by 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully acknowledged.

SHELLEY - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Continuing Care Centre on Thursday, April 12, 2001. Ernest J. Shelley of St. Thomas and formerly of Union, in his 95th year. Husband of the late Mrs. Phyllis (Randall) Shelley (March 2, 2000). Father of Mrs. Pauline Swift and her husband Dale "Bounce" of St. Thomas, Ronald Shelley and his wife Carol of Gorrie, Phillip Shelley of St. Thomas and Mrs. Judi Dees and her husband Jack of R.R.#3, St. Thomas. Grandfather of Sue (Dave) Aristone, Karen (Richard) Auckland, Steve (Judy) Shelley, Diane and Sandra Shelley, Darin (Angela) Dees, Jamey, Kelly and Emily Dees, Taryn and Robyn Shelley. Great grandfather of Martha, Matt and Sonya Aristone, Jonathon, Geoffrey and Katie Auckland, Nicole Shelley, Sinjin and Abigail Dees. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shelley was predeceased by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Parker, Mrs. Milly Smale and Mrs. Edith Gorvett and by a brother, George R. Shelley. There will be no public visitation. A private service will be conducted at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Saturday, April 14, 2001. Interment in Union cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

BLACKFORD - Albert George (Bud). Born September 23, 1923, passed away at his home in Kingsville on Saturday, April 14, 2001, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Predeceased by loving wife Margaret (1958), brother Pete (1976). Loving husband of Joyce (Sheeller). Survived by loving children; Rose Ann and Mickey Brown, Leamington; Rick and Kate Blackford, Holland, Michigan; Sue Blackford, Brantford; Art Blackford and Theresa Mullins, Kingsville; Tim and Cathy Blackford, Kingsville. Also survived by step-children Eddie and Sandy Horne, Kingsville; Nina and Bill Aho, Kingsville; Anita Aho and Jess Grieve, Kingsville; Nancy Grieve and Bob Chapman, Leamington. Loving grandfather of 17-1/2 grandchildren. Beloved brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Mervin Greene. Surviving brother Fred Blackford, Windsor. Resting at the C. Stuart Sykes Funeral Home, 91 Division Street South, Kingsville from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. Funeral service from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 17th at 11:00a.m. Interment in Greenhill cemetery , Kingsville. The family would appreciate memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospice of Windsor-Essex County.

FOWLER - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Friday, April 13, 2001. Mrs. Bernice (Houghton) Fowler RN, of St. Thomas, beloved wife of Donald W. Fowler, in her 80thyear. Mother of Roy Fowler and Mrs. Anne Neill and her husband Robert, all of St. Thomas. Grandmother of Christopher and Todd Neill, both of St. Thomas. Sister of Earl Houghton and his wife Grace of Glanworth and sister-in-law of Mrs. Bep Houghton of Glanworth, Mrs. Elinor Houghton of London and Mrs. Aleta Thomson of Mapleton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers, Oliver, Ross and Reginald Houghton. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Following cremation, interment in the St. Thomas cemetery , West Avenue. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Jessie Rosser Mission Circle of Centre St. Baptist Church gratefully acknowledged.

HEWITT - Suddenly at Health Sciences Centre, South Street Campus as the result of a motorcycle accident on Friday, April 13, 2001, Ernest Hewitt, age 54, of St. Thomas. Husband of Susan. Step father of Lillian. Brother of John and his wife Victoria of Ingersoll and Sean of New York. Also survived by nieces, nephew and step grandchildren. Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, Monday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Lonnie Atkinson officiating. Interment Ingersoll Rural cemetery. Masonic Memorial Service Monday at 8:00 p.m. auspices of Vienna Lodge #237 A.F. & A.M.

IMRIE - Lawrence of St. Thomas, on Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Eileen (Moyes) Imrie and dear brother of Evelyn Ashmore of R.R.#2, Port Stanley and the late James "Herbert" Imrie (Jan. 8, 1986). Dear brother-in-law of Flora Imrie, Don and Aura Graham, Ernest Moyes, Doug and Georgina Moyes and Iris Vincent, all of St. Thomas and Barry Moyes of Chatham. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Elmdale cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

JONES - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, April 14, 2001. David Albert Jones of R.R.#3, Shedden in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Jennie Edwards. Dear father of Carol Gordon and husband Ron of Shedden, Bonnie Heyblom and husband Adriaan of Dutton, Pam Milmine and husband Grant of London and Bob Jones and wife Lorrie of Shedden. Also survived by a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-children and a sister-in-law Marj Jones. Predeceased by a brother Wilfred Jones and 3 sisters; Jean Griffith, Ella Lampman and Mabel McLean. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. Interment , Luton cemetery. Rev. James White officiating. Father of Mrs. Carolyn Geer and her husband Randy of Woodville and Scott Lindsay and his wife Lesley of Toronto. Grandfather of Chelsea, Crystal and Travis Geer, Alec and Julia Lindsay. Brother of the late John A. Lindsay (1976) and brother-in-law of Leonard and Mary Kelly of St. Thomas. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Union cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice gratefully acknowledged.
