NESBITT - Grace Purdy (nee Elgie) passed away on April 7, 2001 at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband, Alex Nesbitt. Grace had been Head of the medical laboratory at the Toronto Hospital, Weston, Ontario for many years and was also a graduate nurse. She had been an active participant in the Living and Learning Program of the University of Toronto. Grace enjoyed opera and Toronto live theatre. She was a charter member of the Stratford Festival and was a loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays from the time of their inception. She is survived by her sister Molly Beale, a resident of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, Ontario. A celebration of her life will be held at the Islington Golf Club on April 28 at noon.

SAUNDERS - At Chelsey Park Nursing Home, London on Saturday, April 14, 2001, Jessie (nee Squire) Saunders of London and formerly of Newbury in her 86th year. Survived by her husband Edgar Saunders and predeceased by her first husband Russell Degraw (1964). Survived by 2 sons, Leonard Degraw and his wife Sharon of R.R.#1, St. Thomas and Frank Degraw of London, 2 step sons, Edward Saunders and Joseph Saunders and his wife Diana all of London. Dear grandmother of Dan Degraw and his wife Becky, Nancy Lawrence all of St. Thomas, David and Cathy Saunders of London. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Leah, Brett, Hailey Lawrence and Shelby, Shaelyn and Logann Degraw and one sister Nellie Butler of West Lorne. Predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends will be received at the Arn Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. M. Clark officiating. Interment Oakland cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Four Counties Health Services Foundation or charity of your choice.

CRON - At the Elgin Manor, R.R.#1, St. Thomas on Sunday, April 15, 2001. Miss Mary E. Cron, a lifelong resident of Fingal, in her 87th year. Sister of Fergus L. Cron and his wife Lucille of Fingal and aunt of William Cron and his wife Valerie of R.R.#2, Port Stanley and Karen Graff and her husband Harvey of R.R.#1, Melbourne. Great aunt of Andrew Lethbridge and his wife Tara, Angela Lethbridge, Nicole Cron and her fianc James Kenny, Adam Lethbridge and his wife Kristen and Kevin Cron and his wife Candace. Great-great aunt of Autumn Lethbridge. At the request of Miss Cron, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment will be made in Fingal cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice gratefully acknowledged. Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas entrusted with the arrangements.

IMRIE - Lawrence of St. Thomas, on Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Eileen (Moyes) Imrie and dear brother of Evelyn Ashmore of R.R.#2, Port Stanley and the late James "Herbert" Imrie (Jan. 8, 1986). Dear brother-in-law of Flora Imrie, Don and Aura Graham, Ernest Moyes, Doug and Georgina Moyes and Iris Vincent, all of St. Thomas and Barry Moyes of Chatham. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Elmdale cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

LINDSAY - At Valleyview Home for the Aged, St. Thomas on Saturday, April 14, 2001. Gerald Daniel "Dan" Lindsay of R.R.#6, St. Thomas, husband of Mrs. Pauline (Kelly) Lindsay, in his 85th year. Father of Mrs. Carolyn Geer and her husband Randy of Woodville and Scott Lindsay and his wife Lesley of Toronto. Grandfather of Chelsea, Crystal and Travis Geer, Alec and Julia Lindsay. Brother of the late John A. Lindsay (1976) and brother-in-law of Leonard and Mary Kelly of St. Thomas. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Union cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice gratefully acknowledged.

WRIGHT - Born on October 13, 1917, George Wright of St. Thomas, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 13, 2001 at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Cherished husband of 61 years of Eva (Muscat) Wright. Forever to be missed by Carmen and Gordon Wood and their children, Gord of Guelph and Allana of London, Mary Anne and John Vigars of London and their children, John and Stephanie Vigars of North Bay and great-grandsons, Jack Ryan, Dr. Jim and Mrs. Tracey Vigars of North Bay and great-grandsons, Matthew and Andrew, Bob Vigars and his dear friend, Shanna Fawcette of Port Stanley, George and Nancy Wright of Woodstock and their children, Ryan and Anne, Mark and Noelle Wright of Corunna and his children, Joshua and Jessica, Michael and Patricia Wright of Marietta, Georgia and their children, Stephanie and Andrew. Also survived by his nephew, Vincent Sciberras and his wife Beth of St. Thomas. Other members of his extended family will mourn his passing. George was predeceased by two infant children and his sister, Margaret (Maggie) Sciberras. George and his wife came to St. Thomas from Malta, their birthplace in 1950. He was a veteran of the British Army during World War II. George was a founding member of the Scout Troop at Holy Angels' Church and was an active member of St. Anne's Parish. George was a skilled watchmaker and began his working life in St. Thomas at Anger's Jewellry Store. He then went on to work at Clevite Limited where he retired after 32 years of dedicated service. Extended family and friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Tuesday from 3-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Holy Angels' cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, donations maybe made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the Alzheimer Society or St. Anne's Church Building Fund. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. As his widow Eva so profoundly noted, "Today we lost part of ourselves."

GREDIG - Margaret "Jean" of R.R.#8, St. Thomas, on Monday, April 16, 2001, at her late residence, in her 64th year. Beloved wife of Albert Gredig and dearly loved mother of Lisa Kohler and her husband Rick, Peter Gredig and his wife Nancy and Tammy Gredig-Dennis and her husband Mike, all of St. Thomas. Dear sister of June White and her husband John of R.R.#8, St. Thomas, Ruth Bulsza and her husband Hal of Corunna, Gary Gonyou and his wife Joyce of R.R.#8, St. Thomas and Jim Gonyou and his wife Barbara of St. Thomas. Loved grandmother of Thomas and Rebecca Kohler. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and relatives in Switzerland. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Thursday afternoon and then to the Church of Christ (Disciples), Mapleton, where funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Interment Necropolis cemetery , Mapleton. Visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the London Regional Cancer Centre.

ANDERSON - Heather Robyn of St. Thomas, on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Children's Hospital of Western Ontario, London, in her 7th year. Dearly loved daughter of John Scott and Sharon Heather (Montgomery) Anderson and dear sister of John Charles Winter Anderson. Loved granddaughter of George and Elizabeth Anderson of St. Thomas and the late Hazel and Henry Montgomery. Sadly missed by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Thomas cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario (Cardiac Unit).
