ASHMORE - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Continuing Care Centre on Monday, April 16, 2001. Mrs. Clara E. (Jones) Ashmore of Fingal, wife of the late Charles J. Ashmore (Apr. 3, 1989), in her 85th year. Mother of Marilyn Brown and her husband Tom of Fingal and Ruth Anne Smithson and her husband Paul of R.R.#1, Simcoe. Grandmother of Kim McCaw and her husband Steve, Marcy Brown and her partner Troy Rick, all of St. Thomas, Greg Smithson and his wife Erica of St. Williams and Rob Smithson and his partner Joanne Kinchsular of Burlington. Great grandmother of Michael Smithson, Mariah McCaw, Jakob and Emma Rick. Sister of Margaret Williams and her husband Ken of St. Thomas, Ken Jones and his wife Teddi of Oshawa, late Robert Jones and late Ronald Jones. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Edna Jones of Kingston, Lillian Jones of St. Thomas, Ethel McPherson of Wallacetown and Evelyn Ashmore of R.R.#2, Port Stanley and by her many loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Knox Presbyterian Church, Fingal on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Fingal cemetery. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation (Continuing Care Centre Unit A) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario gratefully acknowledged. Clara will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt, a caring and effective teacher, a thoughtful friend, a giving and solid family member, a hard worker, a lady who loved to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest.

KRAUS - Andrew, at Parkwood Hospital, London, on Tuesday, April 17, 2001. Andrew Kraus in his 68th year, dear son of the late Andrew Kraus Sr., and Elizabeth (Wagner) Kraus. Dearly loved brother of John Kraus and his wife Susan of London, Jean Krautner and her husband Steve of London, and Fred Kraus and his wife Wanda of St. Thomas. Loved uncle to Brian Kraus and Greg Kraus and his wife Kristin of London, Ed Krautner and his wife Janis of Toronto, Debbie Penney and her husband Don of North Carolina, and great uncle to Joshua Krautner. He is also survived by his cousin George Schuster of Kitchener. The family will receive their friends at the R. E. Allen Funeral Chapel, 31 Elgin St., St. Thomas, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park. Donations to the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital, London, would be appreciated by the family.

WAITE - Jack of St. Thomas on Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 89th year. He was married to his late wife Vera for 56 years. He had three sons, Jim and his wife Sue of St. Thomas, Bruce and his wife Susan of Orillia, and John and his friend Dorinka of London. Also he loved dearly his grandchildren Chris and Christine Waite from Barrie, David and Lisa Waite from Elora, John and Karen Waite and their children Jack and Katie from Orillia, Jeff and Missy Waite from Belleville, James and Heather Waite from Halifax, Marnie Waite and her fianc Fred Bosco from Orillia and Mike Vecchio and his daughter Marissa from St. Thomas. Jack was predeceased by his brother Doug Waite from Chatham and his sister Olive Blackwell from British Columbia. He is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Carrie Waite, friend Ruth Teetzel and many nieces and nephews. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Saturday afternoon and then to Knox Presbyterian Church where celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment Elmdale cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Elgin Military Museum, the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation or the St. Thomas Kiwanis Club Memorial Fund. This man loved his family, loved his community and loved his friends. He was truly a special man.

ZELLAS - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Continuing Care Centre on Wednesday, April 18, 2001. Mrs. Eleanor (Eveland) Zellas of St. Thomas, beloved wife of the late J. L. "Jack" Zellas (Aug. 12, 1995), in her 85th year. Dearly loved mother of Nancy Hedges and her partner Max Wolfe of St. Thomas and Janice Stewart and her husband Kelvin of London. Cherished grandmother of Jason Hedges and his wife Tracey, Shawn Hedges, Erin Hedges, all of St. Thomas and Shayla Stewart of London. Loved great-grandmother of Faith Hedges of St. Thomas. Dear sister-in-law of Wilma Johnston and her husband Lloyd of Bothwell, Jeanette McAdam of Sarnia, Eva Zellas of R.R. #4, St. Thomas and Freida Zellas of St. Thomas. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. Memorial donations to the Sunshine Foundation gratefully acknowledged.

GODDARD - Leonard (July 1, 1903 - June 11, 2001). A resident of Christie Gardens Seniors Apartments, Leonard was formerly head of the Canadian Immigration Service at Pearson International Airport. Husband of the late Tina (Bayliss). He is survived by his sister Ruby Harrison, cousin Eunice Snell, nephews John Harrison (Margaret), Ralph Allen (Molly), Robert Allen (Michelle), Robert Goddard(Ann), Paul Goddard, Patrick Goddard, Sheila Clinton (Don) and great-nephews and great-nieces David, Robert and Katharine Harrison, Susan Maheux, Laurie Reaume, Michael Allen, Dana Harris, Robert Clinton (deceased), Dawn Armitage, Karilee Nadeau, Catherine and Sarah Goddard, and many great-great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the caregivers at Christie Gardens and the extraordinary staff at Mount Sinai Hospital, 17 North for their kindness and care. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 15, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at Islington United Church (Burmanthorpe Road and Dundas Street) with visitation at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, The Christie Gardens Special Fund or a charity of your choice. CROSBY - Peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, Grace Crosby of Aylmer in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late William Crosby (1985). Dear mother to Robert Crosby and his wife Carol of Richmond and the late Shirley Wilcox (1995). Loving grandmother to Mark and Yvonne Wilcox, Dean and Erin Wilcox, Grant and Cher Anne Wilcox, Debbie Wilcox and George Slyfield, Jackie and Nicole Crosby. She will be sadly missed by 7 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Hugh Huffman. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Interment , Aylmer cemetery. NOBES - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, May 30, 2001. Grace Eleanor Nobes of Aylmer in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Rev. George Kitchener Nobes (1953). Dear mother of Fred Nobes of Kitchener and Robert Nobes of London. Loving grandmother of Matthew Nobes and wife Tiffany of Vancouver, B.C. and Maggie Nobes and partner Christopher Sears of Bloomington, Indiana. She will be sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son David Nobes, a brother Robert Lorch and a sister Mary-Lou Lorch. Cremation. A Memorial service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church, John St. N., Aylmer on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Interment of ashes in the Aylmer cemetery. Rev. Michael Wellwood officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society or the Arthritis Society would be appreciated.
