SCHMIDT - Doreen Margaret Brown, born Glasgow, Scotland on March 3rd, 1932, passed away peacefully at the Tom Baker Cancer Center on September 4th, 1997. Beloved wife of Armin, loving mother of Lloyd and Blair, sister of Bryce and Stanley of Scotland, Kenneth (Joan) of England and many nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her mother in 1957, father in 1959 and sister Joy in 1991. Special thanks to the staff on Unit 57. Memorial Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 3704 - 37th St. S.W. on Monday September 8th, 1997. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society (9/7/1997).

WILLIAMS - Lorne Williams of Calgary and formerly of Richmond, BC, beloved husband of Mrs. Shirley Williams, passed away accidentally at Prudential Steel in Calgary on June 12, 1997 at the age of 66 years. Besides his loving wife, Lorne is survived by one daughter Brenda of Victoria, BC. He is also survived by his mother Anna of Vancouver; his devoted sister-in-law Sue of Calgary; a brother Brian of Victoria; two sisters, Laura of Vancouver, Phyllis of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and nephews. An avid sportsman, Lorne especially enjoyed hockey and golfing. He tried to have his yard looking like a golf green, but, would always lose to the Calgary weather. Lorne had numerous friends of all ages, and was extremely fond of his dogs. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel at MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, June 18, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Calgary Humane Society (1323 - 36 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB, T2E 6T6). Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.), located within Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. (6/16/1997).

SPINNEY - Andrew Wayne Spinney, beloved husband of Caroline Spinney of Calgary, passed away tragically at the Foothills Hospital on October 26, 1997 as a result of a traffic accident at the age of 33 years. Andrew is survived by his mother Sheila Spinney, his father Robert Spinney, and his special friend Carol Hansen, all of Calgary. He is also survived by two brothers, Dennis Spinney of Edmonton, and Richard Spinney of Calgary; his mother and father-in-law, Dr. Marian and Margaret Tuszewski Troy of Calgary. Andy graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with Distinction and a minor in Computer Science. Andy worked for G.E. Harris Canada. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Friday, October 31, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Roderick Brown of the Unitarian Church of Calgary officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S. (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society), Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2. In living memory of Andrew Spinney, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY. (10/29/1997).

SPLIEDT - Bethel Rose, born July 7, 1913 passed away September 4, 1997 at the Strathmore Hospital at the age of 84 years. She leaves to mourn a daughter Marie (Uwe) Johannsen; four grandchildren, Wendy (Terry) Sydoryk, Heidi (Marc) Frederick, Adrian (Lindy) Spliedt, Bobbie Jo Spliedt (Nick); six great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kristen, Michael, Joshua, Chelsea and Ross. Bethel is also survived by two sisters, Verna (Kenny) Halverson and Marjorie Knight. She was predeceased by husband Herman 1996, son Robert 1994 and brother Keith 1989. Should friends so desire, donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (c/o Tom Baker Cancer, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary T2N 4N2) would be greatly appreciated by the family. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME, on Monday, September 8, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dawn Nelson officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.). (9/6/1997).

SCHEUCHNER - Shaun Allen, beloved son of Allen and Sharon Scheuchner of Calgary, passed away at Alberta Children's Hospital on September 14, 1997 at the age of 19 years. Shaun is the loving brother to Ralphine, Todd and David, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his grandparents, Blanche and Arnold Scheuchner of Morningside, AB; aunts and uncles, Bruce and Marion Snape of Duchess, AB, Norma and Rand Berg of Millicent, AB, Judy and Buzz Buijs of Hythe, AB, Hazel and Don Snyder of Morningside, AB; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Shaun was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Snape, and Mr. Daniel Scheuchner. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Mountain View Cemetery and Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, 1997 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, September 18, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Christine Meikle School (No. 64 - 12 Street N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 4P4). SCHLANSER - Margaret Schlanser of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on November 12, 1997 at the age of 64 years. Funeral Services were held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Monday, November 17, 1997 with Karen Wilson, Chaplain of the Agape Manor, officiating. In living memory of Margaret Schlanser, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (11/18/1997).

SCHLEPPE - Julius (Carl) Schleppe, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on December10, 1997 after a brief illness at the age of 77 years. Julius was actively involved with the Royal Canadian Legion in various capacities, most notably as the Service Officer at the High River Branch for the past several years. Julius is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ginette Schleppe of Edmonton; two daughters, Janet and Jack Wickens of Cayley, and Elizabeth Ellis and Herman Poliakov of Calgary; three grandchildren, Lora (Bruce) Tannas of Trinity, Texas, Jay Wickens of Nanton, and Kerri Ann Schleppe of Edmonton. Julius was predeceased by his wife Jean in July of 1996. A Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (No. 25 - 8 Avenue S.E.), High River, on Saturday, December 13, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Royal Canadian Legion Veteran's Food Bank. In living memory of Julius Schleppe a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E., CALGARY. (12/12/1997).

SCHMALTZ - Mr. Servulus (Servi) Adam Schmaltz, beloved husband of Mrs. Phyllis Schmaltz of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on November 12, 1997, after a courageous battle at the age of 65 years. Born December 23, 1931 in Beiseker, Alberta to parents, Adam and Frances Schmaltz. Servi was a Professional Engineer and graduated in 1955 from the University of Alberta with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He is a life member of A.P.E.G.G.A. and a member of C.I.M. Servi particularly enjoyed golf and curling and was a member of the Highland Golf and Country Club. Besides his loving wife, Servi is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Karen, and Ken and Susan, all of Calgary. He is also survived by four sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara Morrison of Calgary, Grace and Hugh Brown of Burnaby, B.C., Louise Blacklock of Calgary, Catherine Schmaltz of Calgary; one sister-in-law Audrey Schmaltz of Edmonton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Servi is predeceased by his parents, infant sister Frances and brother George. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), today, November 14, 1997 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Saturday, November 15, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6.
