SCHMIDT - Harold Henry Schmidt, beloved husband of forty-one years to his wife and best friend Helen, passed away on December 5, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65 years. Besides his loving wife, Harold is survived by his two sons, Darcy and his wife Kelly and granddaughter Madyson, and Daryl and Paula. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Emily Twardy, Carol Plett, Ernie (Verena) Schmidt, Anne Schmidt, Jean (Elmer) Pagens; his mother-in-law Katie Jaworenko; and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three sisters, five brothers and by his parents, Jacob and Louise Schmidt. Harold was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. For seventeen years he worked for Union Packing until he started Harold Schmidt Electric in 1969, until his passing. Harold belonged to the Elks Lodge and Golf Club, I.B.E.W. and bowled for thirty years. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Monday, December 8, 1997 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 9, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre c/o Alberta Cancer Foundation (1331- 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2) would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3km East of 68 Street S.E.). (12/7/1997).

SCHMITZ - It is with deep sorrow that the family of Jerome Nicholas Schmitz of Strathmore, announce his passing on November 21, 1997 at the age of 74 years. He is survived by Lillian, his loving wife of forty-nine years. Also mourning his death are his six loving daughters, Kay (Greg) Rosell of High River, Connie (David) McBride of Edmonton, Lynn (Francis) Van Bussel of Strathmore, Debbie (Peter) Muller of Edmonton, Margie (Michael) Barrie of Fernie, B.C., and Shelli (Gerry) McCallum of High River. Jerome was a devoted grandfather to twenty-six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Julie Craik of Spirit River and Dorothy (Bob) Lewisson of Dawson Dreek, B.C.; and one brother Matt Schmitz of Fort Macleod. He was predeceased by three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild. Until his stroke a year ago, Jerome was an avid golfer and was also actively involved with Wheatland Funeral Home. Prayer Service Sunday, November 23, 1997 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Strathmore, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass Monday, November 24, 1997 at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 a.m., Father Ignatius Thu Tran and Father Long Vu, Concelebrants. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Strathmore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Palliative Care Unit at Strathmore Hospital (200 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, T1P 1J9). SCHNEIDER - Mrs. Andrea Schneider passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 1997 at the Rockyview General Hospital at the age of 94 years. Andrea was born December 2, 1902 in Ghent, Belgium. She married Michael Schneider and raised seven children. Andrea was a special lady, loved by everyone who knew her. She is survived by two daughters, Gerry and her husband Bob Fay of Lethbridge, Alberta, Yvonne and her husband Merle Derochie of DeWinton, Alberta; and a son Jack of Albany, New York; two sisters, Yvonne Lynch and Irma Greer; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Andrea was predeceased by her husband Michael, and sons, Douglas, Barney, Michael and Andrew. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, today, July 7, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., on Tuesday, July 8, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Keith F. Sorge, Celebrant. If friends so desire, donations can be made directly to their favourite charity. The family extends their thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at "Father Lacombe Nursing Home" and "Rockyview General Hospital", as well as a special thanks to Dr. Leigh Morris for his compassionate care. SCHNELL - August Ernest (Ernie) Schnell, husband of Mrs. Ida Schnell of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Saturday, November 1, 1997 after a lengthy illness at the age of 65 years. Ernie was born May 25, 1932 at Rockglen, Saskatchewan. He had worked for Dominion Bridge for many years. Mourned by his wife of forty years, Ernie is survived by a daughter Karyn McNair and a son Derek Schnell, both of Calgary; and four grandchildren, Crystal, Stephen, Joshua and Jennell. He is also survived by two brothers, Calvin and Colin; and a sister Wendy; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Monday, November 10, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Alberta Children's Hospital, 1820 Richmond Road S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2T 5C7. SCHNITZLER - Mr. James (Jim) Allen Schnitzler, beloved husband of Mrs. Elaine Schnitzler of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on June 5, 1997, at the age of 61 years. Jim was born on September 24, 1935 in Stettler, Alberta. He worked for A.G.T. for many years until his retirement in 1991. Jim thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years, traveling and spending time improving their home and yard. Besides his loving wife, Jim is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Paul and Elizabeth of Calgary, Gord of Taber, Brian and Jagoda of Jackson's Point, Ontario, Doug, Dan and Carrie, all of Calgary; and a daughter Teresa Schnitzler of Calgary; three grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and Courtney. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Romain D'Hont of Edmonton, and Doris and Bob Jowett of Kamloops. He was predeceased by a son Jim Jr. in 1984, parents, Mary and Jacob Schnitzler, a sister Rita Garrett, and a brother Donald. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Sunday, June 8, 1997 at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 - 24 Avenue N.W.), on Monday, June 9, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. SCHOFIELD - Florence Annie passed away peacefully at Rockyview Hospital on Wednesday, June 4, 1997 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Lloydminster, Sask., on January 20, 1907. She is survived by three sons, John (Joyce), Charles (Mary), and Gordon (Lorraine); and daughter Gladys (Jim) Drake; along with eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Lloyd and stepson Ron. Her husband Herb, of sixty-five years, passed away September 1, 1996 at the age of one hundred. Cremation will be followed by a Memorial Service in Alliance Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. with Interment in Alliance Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated (6/6/1997).

SCHONERT - Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Schonert, R.N. of Airdrie, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre surrounded by her loving family on November 9, 1997 at the age of 91 years. Margaret is survived by two sons and two daughters, Doug and Lynda Beatty of Debolt, Richar and Colleen Loxam of Bowden, Kay Beatty Arthur of Penticton, and Vicki and Ted Engstrom of Airdrie; eighteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's Catholic Church (1305 Main Street) on Wednesday, November 12, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ludwig Hens, Celebrant. In living memory of Margaret Schonert, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Airdrie Funeral Home", 300 TOWERLANE DRIVE, AIRDRIE, ALBERTA. WILLIAMS - Howard Warren, beloved husband of fifty-five years of Isabella Jane Grinton. Born January 29, 1922, died November 1, 1997. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Wayne) Snyder, Calgary, Dianna (Chester) Clarke, Valemount, B.C., Gail Crilley, Calgary; he is also survived by grandchildren, Neil, Heidi, Joseph, Robin (Albert) Elliott; and great-granddaughter Irene; brother-in-law Ray Lea; nephew Ernie (Wendy) Kidd; nieces, Evelyn (Don) Michel, Helen (Tony) Fulmek, and their families. He was predeceased by his father James, mother Pearl, sisters, Annie and Mary, and nephew Jim. Howard was employed with the Calgary Fire Department for thirty-five years, and was instrumental in starting the toy campaign. At Howard's request, no Services will be held. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Fire Department Toy Campaign or the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre. Arrangements and Cremation in care of HERITAGE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICES, "Calgary Crematorium Chapel". (11/4/1997).
