After a lengthy battle with cancer, Roland Lionel Schlievert of Englehart died at home on September 21, 2004.
He was born in Chamberlain Township, Englehart, on December 25, 1927 to Garfield and Borghild Schlievert.
Home schooled, he worked as a section foreman for Ontario Northland Railway from 1951-1978.
A member of Thornloe Crossroads Baptist Church, he loved to sing and play guitar. Mr. Schlievert was a devoted husband and father, known for his strong work ethic. He dedicated his life to serving God and was also extremely generous.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, whom he married in Englehart on August 2, 1986; daughters Sharon Okum (David), Marsha McCann (Carman), Nancy Packham (Lloyd), Kelly Wood (Dennis), Leeanne Schlievert (Wendy), Carolee Lussier (Rob); stepchildren Don Merritt (Jane), Karl Merritt (Beverly), Fred Merritt (Rose), Joe Merritt (Cathy), Janice Dingman (Terry), Frances Pratt (Kevin); 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and sister Gloria Schlievert.
Mr. Schlievert was predeceased by his parents Garfield and Borghild, brother Garry, first wife Iona and grandson Rodney Merritt.
The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted at the Living Way Church in Englehart on September 24, 2004. Pastors Keith Edwards and Andrew Porter officiated.
Pallbearers were grandsons Jeff Okum, Justin Okum, Brad McCann, Dan McCann, Dana Wood and Jordan Wood.
Honourary pallbearers were Nathan Okum, Brodie Wood, Spencer and Logan Lussier.
Burial is at the Englehart cemetery.

Earl Collingridge
Englehart resident Earl Collingridge died suddenly at the Englehart and District Hospital on October 9, 2004.
Mr. Collingridge was born in Bear Lakes, Parry Sound, on November 1, 1925 to John and Lilli Ella Collingridge. He came to Englehart from North Bay.
Mr. Collingridge married his wife Bernice in Englehart on January 11, 1986. Over the years he worked as a general contractor.
Mr. Collingridge loved to play the fiddle at numerous dances and functions. He was an active member of the Charlton-Englehart Lions Club and was a member of the Grand Orange Lodge of Canada and of the United Church.
Mr. Collingridge is survived by his wife Bernice and children Susan, Debbie, Judy and David.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Lilli and children Ruth and Lilli.
The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart where the service was conducted October 12 by Reverend Peter Dahlin.
Cremation followed.

John Henry Schoenijahn
Long-time resident of Harris Township, John Henry Schoenijahn, died September 29, 2004 at Extendicare Tri-Town Nursing Home in Haileybury.
He was born June 20, 1910 in Dissen, Germany. He immigrated to the New Liskeard area as a 20-year-old young man in 1930. His family settled on their farm in Harris Township which Mr. Schoenijahn transformed into his pride and joy.
He married Frances Sheppard on July 1, 1944 and raised three children. Upon retiring from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, he and his wife travelled for several years with the Martin and Downs Circus which was a life long dream come true.
Mr. Schoenijahn was predeceased by his wife Frances on August 14, 1997; parents Karl and Elizabeth; brother Gunter and brother-in-law Ben Ziegler.
He is survived by his sister Ellen Ziegler (Hank Ages) of Sarnia; son Roy (Linda) of New Liskeard; daughters Betty (Aurel) St-Onge of Cambridge and Audrey Schoenijahn (Dave Forsyth); grandchildren Karl Schoenijahn (Sandra Larkin) of New Liskeard, Ilsa Schoenijahn of Sault Ste. Marie, Sylvia (Dave) Bordignon of Cambridge, Paul St-Onge of Burlington, Justin Metz of Cambridge, Anita Metz of Barrie; and great-grandson Chad St-Onge.
Interment was at Lakeview cemetery in Harris Township with his beloved spouse, his parents and his brother.
The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard.
The family extended heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses at Extendicare for the outstanding care Mr. Schoenijahn received during his time there and to Dr. Hurtubise for his wonderful support during their trying times. In lieu of floral tributes, donations to Extendicare Tri-Town Nursing Home Volunteers would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Harold Walter Adams
Harold Walter Adams died at the Temiskaming Hospital on September 28, 2004 at the age of 78.
Born in Coleman Township, Mr. Adams had been an employee of Brewers Retail for 41 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Gladys Hazel (n e Coe); children Jacqueline (and Peter) Belanger, Roy (and Kim) Adams and Sharon Adams (and her friend Allan); daughter-in-law Bev Adams; grandchildren Brad and Kevin, Jason, Tina and John, Jeremy, Joshua and Jordan; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral was arranged by Buffam L veill Funeral Home, Haileybury, where the service was held on October 1.
Captain Deris Fillier officiated.
Interment of the ashes took place on October 4 at Mount Pleasant cemetery in Haileybury.

Camille Bujold
Camille Bujold died September 28, 2004 at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury.
He was born in Smooth Rock Falls on July 31, 1931 to Gerald and Helma Bujold.
Educated in Smooth Rock Falls, he worked as a stationary engineer in Mississauga and moved north from Oak Ridges, Ontario, in 2000.
Mr. Bujold was predeceased by his wife Ida Howard in 1998, brother Leo Bujold and sister Antoinette Rushlow.
He is survived by his daughter Joanne Logue, son Dennis Bujold, daughter Shelly Ann Bujold, son Norman Bujold, brothers Lucien, Oscar, Clairmont, Roger and Ivan, sisters Louise Goulet and Geraldine McAlpine.
The funeral was arranged by Buffam L veill Funeral Home in Haileybury with the service conducted October 2 by Father Lemire.
Cremation was in Rouyn.
Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Newmarket, Kapuskasing and Strickland.
Dorothy Maud Cleveland-Iliffe
Dorothy Maud Cleveland-Iliffe died at the Tri-Town Extendicare Nursing Home on October 2, 2004 at the age of 95.
She was born in Haileybury on January 26, 1909 to Arthur and Helen (Thorpe) Cleveland-Iliffe.
The family of Miss Dorothy Maud Cleveland-Iliffe will receive friends at the Buffam L veill Funeral Home, Haileybury, on Thursday, October 7, beginning at noon.
A chapel service will follow at the Buffam L veill Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wally Wood officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot at Mount Pleasant cemetery in Haileybury.
Francoise McLean
Francoise McLean died at the North Bay General Hospital on September 29, 2004 at the age of 55.
She was predeceased by her parents Phillip and Emma Maill .
Mrs. McLean is survived by her children Luc of British Columbia and Natalie of Quebec; siblings Antoinette, Prescille, Lillian, Claire, Suzanne, Lise and Rene Ghislaine.
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in New Liskeard in the near future.

Barbara Wessel
After a courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Wessel (n e Favron) died peacefully at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener on October 2, 2004 at the age of 40.
She is survived by her husband Fred; children Beverly and Phillip; parents Wanda and Claude; brothers Dan (Betsy) and Nick (Cathy); sister Wendy; nephews Patrick, Stephen and Bradley and niece Kimberly.
Mrs. Wessel will always be remembered for her love of her family and her generosity towards everyone she knew.
A private family service was held at Littles Funeral Home and Cremation Centre in Cambridge.
In memory of Mrs. Wessel, donations to the Grand River Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
The family thanked all of the nursing and medical staff at Freeport Grand River Hospital and London Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion.
