LATHWELL - Lillian Josephine Lathwell of Calgary, passed away at the Extendicare Hillcrest Nursing Home on June 22, 1997, at the age of 92 years. Lillian is survived by two daughters, Agnes (Richard) Maze of Blaine, Washington, Judy (Leonard) Euren of Benalto, Alberta; and by grandchildren, Mary Jane (Henry), Bob, Leslie (Rob), Dana (Ken), Darcy, Doug (Donna); and six great-grandchildren, Brent, Sarah, Travis, Randy, Chance and George. She was predeceased by her loving husband George in June 1983 and by her son Bill in February 1997. The family extends a special thanks to Hillcrest for the many years of caring. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, June 26, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.) located within Mountain View Memorial Gardens. (6/24/1997).

LATIMER - Larry Latimer, aged 57, passed away at home on June 14, 1997. He is survived by his wife Betty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Mark, Cathy and Dan, and a son David. Also survived by three grandsons, Gordon, Jeffrey and Joshua. Larry was loved by many and will be missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited for Visitation at LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.), this evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" on Wednesday, June 18, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Linda Hunter officiating. Cremation will follow at Leyden's "Bow Valley" Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2. LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOMES LTD., Directors of Services. LATTER - Kathryn Winnifred, sadly on June 12, 1997, Kathy completed her journey among us and went to be with her dad, Gramma and nephew Colin. Leaving to carry on her mission of life is her beloved son Brody; her mom Grace; sisters, Peggy Elhorn of Nanaimo, Judi Shermerhorn (Vern), and Colleen Allin (Doug); and brother Dean (Kathy), all of Calgary. Special people to Aunty Taffy were, Corrie, Dallas, Brandi-Lynn, Wes, Vicki, Danny, Shelley, Thomas and Trin. Born in Calgary, July 16, 1954, Kathy lived in Edmonton, Yellowknife and finally returned to Calgary. Her lot in life was volunteering. Kathy worked with Calgary Minor Hockey Association, Seven Clubs Sports Council and Penbrooke Meadows Community. Countless hours were spent helping others, especially children. Funeral Services will be held at Penbrooke Meadows Community Hall, 6100 - 8 Avenue S.E., Calgary, on Tuesday, June 17, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. LAUGHLAN - Calvin Weathermon (Kelly) Laughlin, born March 5, 1920, passed away July 11, 1997 at the Hanna Hospital. He is survived by six children, Mervin (Judy) Laughlin, Rick (Donna) Laughlin and Michael (Sandra) Laughlin all of Youngstown, Stephen (Ellen) Laughlin of Pritchard, B.C., Janice (Terry) Humphrey of Spruce Grove, AB. and Wade Laughlin of Dawson City, Yukon. His sixteen grandchildren, Sherry (Joey) Matt of Sparwood, B.C., Keli Laughlin and Shelly Hayworth of Sundre AB., Tim, Jeff, Blanca, James, Michael, Larry, Taralynn, Haley Anne and Leah Dawn Laughlin of Youngstown, Kevin, Joanne and Scott Humphrey of Spruce Grove, AB., Naomi and Stephen Laughlin of Surrey, B.C.; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Alisha Matt and Levi Hayworth; and his former wife Bea Curtis of Calgary. He was predeceased by two sons, David Larry in 1958 and Timothy Howard in 1968 as well as six brothers and two sisters. Kelly was born at Youngstown and farmed there until retiring to Hanna. Funeral Services will be held at the Youngstown Community Hall, Monday, July 14, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Calgary at 3:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Courtney's Funeral Services of Hanna (7/14/1997).

LAVERDURE - Mrs. Mabel Laverdure of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on November 7, 1997 at the age of 76 years. She is survived by her loving husband Edward of Calgary; her children, Gordon (Pat) of Airdrie, Ronald (Lora) of Kelowna and Lorraine (Mark) of Calgary; five grandchildren, Wesley, Katelyn, Cody, Kassidy and Jesse; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary on Thursday, November 13, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ray Reitsema officiating. LAWS - Lucile Laws passed away, in the loving care of the staff at the Brentwood Nursing Home, on June 12, 1997 at the age of 86 years. She is the loving mother of Joanne (Doug Cameron), and grandmother to Scott (Lorna) and Cherlyn (Warren). Lucile was predeceased by her husband Bill on June 4, 1995. Lucile touched the hearts of many people and will be sadly missed. Our special thanks to Tracy at Brentwood for her gentle touch and love she gave mom. Memorial Services will be held at the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Monday, June 16, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.), located within Mountain View Memorial Gardens. LAWSON - Miriam Orlee Lawson (nee Philips) passed away suddenly on November 19, 1997 as a result of a car accident. She was returning to Calgary from Grande Prairie where she had just finished another one of her many speaking engagements for Christian Woman's Club. Telling others about the love of Jesus Christ had been one of her passions, particularly since the death of her husband, Ross, ten years ago. Orlee was born on the fourth of July, 1927, in Jamestown, New York. She was raised by her adoptive parents, and later moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. While attending a bible college in Indianapolis, she met a young chiropractic student, Ross Lawson, whom she married in May of 1950. With their first born son, they moved to Calgary where they subsequently raised all five of their children. With the addition of grandchildren into her life, Orlee took great delight in making traditions and memories with them. As a founding member of Woodgreen Presbyterian Church (PCA), Orlee was known as the "heart of her church family". She also served Christ through Stonecroft Ministries, touching thousands of women's lives throughout North America with her personal testimony of God's grace. We thank God for giving her to us as a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a friend. God's grace is sufficient. Well done good and faithful servant. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Stephen and Donna Lawson, John and Sandee Dean, David and Susan Lawson, Geoffrey and Barbara Jemmott, Paul and Julie Lawson; sixteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Jessica and Nathan Lawson, Nancee, James, Jayne, David and Haylee Dean, Jeremy, Jonathan, Daniel and Megan Lawson, and Kandis, Ben, Kathryn and Sam Lawson. Orlee is also survived by her sister Martha and her family in the U.S.; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarke and Maynard Lawson, Helen Gittel, Phyllis Austin, Angie Lawson, Vivian Ross, Joan Lawson, as well as other relatives. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, November 24, 1997 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at First Alliance Church (1201 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Tuesday, November 25, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Union Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Vision 2000 (PCA), c/o Northridge Presbyterian Church, 1510 - 10 Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta T3C 0J5 or directly to Stonecroft Ministries, P.O. Box 1200, Postal Station A, Willowdale, Ontario M2N 5T5.
