- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -GILBERTSON - Kathryn Lee Gilbertson, RN, passed away quietly on September 8, 1997 at the age of 46 years at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary after a brave and courageous battle with cancer for many months. Kathy was born to Albert and Marion Bildfell in Foam Lake, SK on January 2, 1951. She married Howard Dale Gilbertson of Red Deer, AB in 1971. Kathy leaves to mourn, her three daughters, Teresa, Jenine, and Cyrene; her husband Howard; her parents, Albert and Marion Bildfell; her sister Deidra Howe (Steve); her nephews and niece, Joseph, Tammy, Roy and Patrick Howe; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives, as well as a host of friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Red Deer Lake United Church (West of Highway 2 on Highway 22X, past Spruce Meadows), on Saturday, September 13, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Vegreville United Church (Vegreville, AB), on Sunday, September 14, 1997 at 3:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, 303 Forge Road S.E., Calgary, T2H 0S9, and/or charity of donor's choice. GILES - Winnifred Emily (Winnie) Giles, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Agape Manor Hospice on Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at the age of 71 years. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce in 1996, and her daughter Patricia in 1951. She is survived by her mother Jean Gresl; her five children, Wayne (Penny), Jean Lepard, Karen (Frank) Skalski, Kathy (Carl) McDonald and Douglas (Debbie); as well as her four grandchildren, Teresa Janes, Nichole and Renee Skalski, Kayla McDonald; she also leaves three great-grandchildren, Kyler Sclski, Travis and Miranda Janes. Winnie was the hub of our family and will be missed by all of us. We would like to express our appreciation to Jo Heemskerk and her family for their loving support throughout Mom's illness. GILFILLAN - With great sadness the family announce the death of Vernon Keith (Gil) Gilfillan, beloved husband of Evelyn of Calgary, passed away at home on June 28, 1997, at the age of 68 years. Gil was born on November 26, 1928 in Edmonton, Alberta. He met Evelyn Serafini in Lethbridge and they were married there on September 28, 1950. He has had a career with the John Deere Corporation with inside sales and as territory manager from 1950 to 1974 and then with individual John Deere dealerships from 1974 to 1984. Gil will be remembered for his optimistic attitude, his great sense of humour, his willingness and ability to always help others and his love of family. Besides his loving wife, Vern (Gil) is survived by his daughter Nadine Gilfillan and her husband Don Pearson; and by his son Cameron and his wife Darlene Gilfillan, all of Kelowna, B.C. He is also survived by two brothers, Ken Gilfillan, and Jim and his wife Carol Gilfillan, all of Edmonton. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Emma Gilfillan. GILLESPIE - Lillian of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on December 4, 1997 at the age of 87 years. Lillian was the loving mother of Jacqueline (Gordon) Kerr; loving grandmother of Bruce (Margret), Brent (Aimee), Blair (Susan); loving great-grandmother of Daryl and Michelle Kerr and Carson and Maggie Kerr. She is also survived by her sister Ann (Len) Girling and their sons, Gary (Yvonne), Greg (Dixie), and their families, as well as other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Beaverbrook Ward at the Bow View Manor for their care and compassion. At Lillian's request, a private Family Service will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, December 9, 1997 with Pastor Brent Kerr officiating. GILLETT - Susan Catherine Gillett of Calgary, in her 91st year, on July 17, 1997. Beloved mother of one son William (Eleanor) and daughter Susan of Calgary. Also survived by four grandsons, John (Margot), Douglas, Michael and Gary; and great-granddaughter Kirsten, all of Calgary; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward on June 7, 1986. Private Family Services will be held. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Unit 61 at Foothills Hospital for the care given to Susan during her illness. GILMER - Viola Janet. On November 24, 1997, Mrs. Viola Gilmer of Provost passed away at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son Richard (Karen) Gilmer of Calgary; three daughters, Joyce Gilmer of Provost, Rita (Ron) Keller of Provost, Rhonda (Barry) Gordon of Calgary; six grandchildren; her mother Regina Nett of Provost; five brothers and three sisters. Viola was predeceased by her husband Harold, an infant son, her father Peter B. Nett and three brothers. Vigil Service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Provost, AB. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 27, 1997 at 2:30 p.m. from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Provost, AB with Fr. Marian Strankowski officiating.
