Alice was born February 3, 1910 to Labon and Mary Eamor. Beloved mother of one daughter Charlotte Fletcher of Taber; five sons, Ken Jordan of Innisfail, Mel Jordan of Vulcan, Ron (Marj) Jordan of Lethbridge, Vernon (Jean) Jordan of Champion, Keith (Rita) Jordan of Spruce Grove; three sisters, Hazel Frazer and special friend George of Calgary, Minnie Dowling of Penticton, B.C., Laura (Walter) Dann of Vulcan; and one brother Melvin (Betty) Eamor of Vulcan; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 8, 1997 at 2:30 p.m. at Vulcan United Church with Rev. Don Watt officiating. Interment Vulcan Cemetery. JORGENSEN - Ethel May Jorgensen, beloved wife of Andy Jorgensen of High River and formerly of Blackie, passed away at the Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital at Claresholm on November 12, 1997 at the age of 85 years. She was born to Herman and Florence Millard in their homestead home at Jenner, Alberta on May 24, 1912. She received her education at Jenner, Brooks and Calgary. After receiving her teaching degree, she returned to Jenner to teach for three years at the Millard School. In 1934 she married Andy and they farmed near Jenner for the next ten years. It was while they were there that their three children were born. In 1944 they came to the Blackie area to farm until their retirement. From 1962 onward they made High River their home. While there, Ethel and Andy enjoyed many trips to various parts of the world. Ethel's special kindness and concern for her friends and neighbours was always expressed with her ready smile and kind words. Her newsy Christmas letters were legendary with those who lived far away. Besides her husband Andy, Ethel is survived by her children, Shirley Stein of Hedley, B.C., David and Connie Jorgensen of Hermiston, Oregon and Frances Fleischman of High River; her sisters, Alice and Harold Nielsen of Elnora, and Iva and Don Naegeli of Drumheller; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law Milt Fleischman, her grandson Jonathan Gritten, and two great-granddaughters, Sarah Harquail and Rachel Stanhope. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 17, 1997 at SNODGRASS Funeral Chapel, High River at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. Susan Lukey officiating. Interment to take place on Tuesday, November 18 at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. MAULSBY - Joan Carol Maulsby (nee McMullen) passed away peacefully on December 10, 1997 at the Rockyview Hospital at the age of 64 years. Joan will be sadly missed by her son David Maulsby; daughter Cheri Maas and son-in-law Richard; two grandchildren, Paul and Christine, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her cousins, Kerry Rankin and Tara McDowell and their families; as well as her devoted friend Barbara Kouwenberg. Joan was predeceased by her mother Kit McMullen in 1985. She will be best remembered for her patience, caring and the endless courage she possessed in the face of a life challenged by much illness and many hardships. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and it was from this love that she drew her strength. Joan's compassion for others extended into her nursing career. Trained at the Holy Cross Hospital, she graduated in 1955 and received the Gold Medal for Proficiency. She quickly advanced to the position of Head Nurse on Pediatrics and it was at this time of her life that she was the happiest. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 - 14 Street S.W.), on Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jesus Ronillo Timajo, Celebrant. MAY - Mrs. K. Irene May of Stony Plain, Alberta, passed away at her residence on June 8, 1997 at the age of 80 years. Irene lived and worked in the Balzac area for over thirty years for the Davy family. She was an avid gardener. Upon retirement she moved to Stony Plain, Alberta. She will be remembered by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Florence and Lorne Allan, Donna and David Koop, all of Calgary; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Elaine Gunderson of Stony Plain; nine grandchildren, David, Denise, Geoffrey, Shauna, Sheila, Shannon, Troy, Tanya and Ryan. She is also survived by a brother The Rev. Dr. Leslie Holdcroft and his wife Ruth of Abbotsford, B.C., and their daughters, Cynthia, Althea and Sylvia. She will also be remembered by many other relatives and friends. MAYER - Fred Mayer passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on June 17, 1997 at the age of 74 years. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Brenda and Judy (Chapman); grandchildren, Willi, Tom and Sheree (Obbagy); friend and former wife Hilda. MAYHEW - Mrs. Mary Mayhew (nee Webster) of Calgary, passed away surrounded by her family at the Mayfair Care Centre on Sunday, June 29, 1997 at the age of 82 years. Mary was born in Calgary and attended the Glenmore District School. She worked as a waitress at Deer Lodge in Lake Louise, AB as well as at The Bay's downtown store in Calgary. Together, with her parents, family and friends, Mary enjoyed the many trips to Banff in the 1930's. During World War II, Mary and sister Anne, were involved in W.A.C.S. She married Fred in May, 1947 and together, raised three children. Mary always put family first and enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens. In June 1992, Mary took residence at the Mayfair Care Centre where she has since resided. In spite of her illness, Mary always had a pleasant smile for everyone. Mary is the loving mother of three children, Tom and his wife Janet, Donna and her husband Rino Sorbetti, and Al and his wife Lynne; as well as five grandchildren, Phillip, Anthony, Kim, Marco and Jonathan, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Peggy Webster of Calgary; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anne Armstrong of Thornbury, ON, and Barbara and Ronald Barkley of Calgary; and her sister-in-law Ellie Vance of Calgary and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in October, 1992. KERR - Douglas Macfarlane Kerr died peacefully June 30, 1997 at Foothills Hospital at age 77. Doug was predeceased by parents, Genevieve Maud Crowell and Frederick Cumberland Kerr as well as brother Robert of Edmonton. Doug was born in North Battleford, Sask. on August 27, 1919. He served in the Second World War as a pilot with the RCAF in England, India and Burma. After the war he returned to North Battleford where he met his wife of forty-two years, Shirley (Jenn). With stops in Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, Sask., Doug and family settled in Calgary in 1970. In addition to Shirley, Doug is survived by sons, Fred, along with wife Susan Mawdsley of Calgary, and Grant of Saint John, N.B.; brother Bill and wife Doreen of Calgary; and sister-in-law Evelyn Kerr of Edmonton and their families. Also left to mourn are, Marje and Bill Ball of Dodsland, Sask.; Audrey and Harry Lockerby of Salmon Arm, B.C., and Eric and Grace Jenn of Kelowna, B.C. and their families. A Memorial Service will be held at Lakeview United Church, Friday, July 4, 2:00 p.m., 3023 - 63 Avenue S.W. KEY - Helen Key (nee Grassi) of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on October 17, 1997, at the age of 85 years. She was born in Calgary and lived here for her entire life. Helen will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family, as well as being a long-time member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was actively involved in the Confederation Park Senior's Group. Helen is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, as well as a daughter and a son-in-law, Ken and Lureen of Squamish, British Columbia, Bob and Joan of Calgary, Jean and Bill of Atlanta, Georgia, Dave and Vickie of Calgary, and their families. She is also survived by a sister Rosie deFerro of Calgary; several nieces and nephews, and other family members. Helen is predeceased by her husband Jack in 1985, a brother Mario, and two sisters, Mary and Lea.
