MARYSIUK - Mrs. Katherine Marysiuk of Father Lacombe Nursing Home passed away on November 26, 1997 at the age of 93 years, beloved mother and mother-in-law of Anne and Ernie Kuefler, Olga and Jere MacFarlane, and Allan and Linda Marysiuk. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Vodie Marysiuk; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her brother Julian Roczkowski and family of Edmonton. Katherine was predeceased by her husband Peter, September 28, 1986 and her son Edward (Ed), December 8, 1996. Mrs. Marysiuk was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1927 and has resided in Calgary since 1973. Special thanks to Dr. S. Cooper, care giver Jean and the wonderful caring Sisters and staff of the Father Lacombe Nursing Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 - 45 Street S.W.) today, November 29, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rendall Yackimec, Celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Reception to follow Graveside Service at LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.). If desired, donations may be made to the Father Lacombe Nursing Home, 332 - 146 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2X 2A3. As a tribute to Katherine, Leyden's Funeral Home will make a donation to the Father Lacombe Nursing Home. LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOMES LTD. (11/29/1997).

MASLOFF - Matrona (Mary) Masloff, beloved wife of the late John Masloff of Calgary, passed away on Friday, June 20, 1997 at the age of 84 years. Friends are invited to meet for Prayers Services at the Russian Greek Orthodox Church of All Saints (905 - 8 Avenue N.E.), on Monday, June 23, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Russian Greek Orthodox Church of All Saints, on Tuesday, June 24, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. George Primack officiating. Interment to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements in care of LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME LTD. and Bow Valley Crematorium. (6/22/1997).

MASON - Valerie Faith Mason, cherished wife and life partner of Lee, beloved mother of son Mark (Brenda); and daughter Fiona (Warren) Bedell, passed away at home on July 1, 1997. Valerie is survived by her beloved sister Iris of Calgary; and brother John (Kitty) Short of England; proud grandmother to Kyra; sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, friend. Valerie was a loving person and was generous in her love and self. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, c/o Alberta Cancer Foundation, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.), on Friday, July 4, 1997 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Thomas J. Carman officiating. (7/3/1997).

MASSEY-HICKS - Emily Jane, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary at 10:00 p.m. on December 7, 1997 at the age of 92 years, after suffering two cardiac episodes a few days prior. She is the beloved mother of three sons and their wives, Mirv (Rowena), Ken (Nancy), Art (Darlene); eight grandchildren, Sandra, Diane, Arlene, Gail, Clyde, Raylene, Blake and Teresa; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Gertrude in South Africa. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1942, who died in action during World War II. Emily was born in Redruth, Cornwall, England in 1905and with her family emigrated to South Africa when she was sixteen. In 1960 she came to Canada to be with her three sons and has resided in Calgary ever since. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Unit 57 of the Foothills Hospital for their kindness and dedication during her brief stay there. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Pierson's Funeral Home, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E. this evening, Tuesday, December 9, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements in care of PIERSON'S FUNERAL SERVICE. (12/10/1997).

MATHESON - Allan Duncan Matheson passed away on Sunday, November 9, 1997 at the Rosedale Hospice at the age of 76 years after a lengthy battle with cancer. Throughout his ordeal, his thoughts and concerns were for his family, Agnes, his beloved wife and best friend of fifty-four years; son David and his wife Verena of Vancouver; daughter Dianne and her husband Don Hutton of Calgary; and grandchildren, Spencer and Allan Matheson, and Stewart and Megan Hutton, who will all miss his warm love and care. He is also survived by one brother Bill; two sisters, Mary Belle (Murray) Wood and Margaret (Ken) Meador; sisters-in-law, Jean (Paul) Rolseth, Vi (Norm) Casson and Ruby Matheson; brothers-in-law, Bill (Eve) Barker and Gary (Terry) Barker; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom meant so much to him. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mina, brother Nevin Matheson and sister-in-law Betty Matheson. Besides his family, many true friends enriched Allan's life. His greatest enjoyment was to share his sense of humour with family and friends. Allan was born in Granum, Alberta on June 18, 1921. During the Second World War, he served in the Canadian Navy. After obtaining a degree in agriculture from University of Alberta, he continued this interest by farming at Balzac, and working in rural real estate. A Memorial Service will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church (290 Edgepark Boulevard N.W.), on November 16, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kirk Summers officiating. If friends desire, a donation would be greatly appreciated in Allan's memory directly to the Rosedale Hospice, 920 - 7A Street N.W., Calgary, T2M 3J3 or to Westminster Presbyterian Church Care and Share Fund, 290 Edgepark Boulevard N.W., Calgary, Alberta T3A 4H4. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Rosedale Hospice for the incredibly kind and compassionate care given to Allan and his loved ones, and to Dr. P.B. Dunham for his many years as their trusted family physician. In living memory of Allan Matheson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Crowfoot Chapel", 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. (11/13/1997).

MATSON - Judith O. Matson passed away peacefully at the Claresholm Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital on October 17, 1997 at the age of 86 years, beloved mother of Janet Olson of Chilliwack, B.C., Ken (Lana) Matson of Calgary. She is also survived by four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Matson was predeceased by her husband Emmett in 1990. Judy was born March 24, 1911, the daughter of Marie and Ole Vostad. Memorial Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (4071 - 1 Street West) Claresholm, on Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Barrett Scheske officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Wandering Willows Association, Box 700, Claresholm, Alberta T0L 0T0. Arrangements and Cremation are in care of LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOMES LTD., Claresholm, Directors of Services. (10/19/1997).

KEYES - John Clement "Clem" Keyes, beloved husband of Francoise of Calgary, passed away at the Beverly Nursing Home on July 19, 1997, at the age of 87 years. Besides his loving wife, Clem is survived by five daughters, Adele Keyes Lessard and husband Pierre of Montreal, Susan Keyes Karn of Charlotte, North Carolina, Nancy and Norm Ottewell of Abbottsford, B.C., Judy and Doug Rousell and Anna Keyes of Calgary; and one son Patrick Keyes and wife Albina Ollarek of Toronto; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Clem was born and raised in Montreal and after a successful career in real estate, he moved to Calgary in 1967, where he lived until his death. Clem was a very active volunteer in church and community work and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1414 Shawnessy Boulevard on Thursday, July 24, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Thomas Vadassery, Celebrant. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alberta Lung Association, 302, 609 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 2A1. Arrangements in care of MEMORIES FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORIUM, 12705 Lake Fraser Drive S.E., Calgary.

JONES - Geoffrey V. Jones, beloved husband of Mrs. Kathleen Jones of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on October 18, 1997 at the age of 59 years. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 AVENUE S.E. at GARDEN ROAD (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.). (10/19/1997).
